Hubby gave blood yesterday. While he was doing that, I walked over to Kroger. I had plenty of time to cruise the inventory and look for deals. I had a prep fail. We ran out of Italian seasoning. So I bought 2 large bottles. Then I just wandered down each isle. I found a few good deals. There was some low inventory, but not a lot. I did score 2 packages of the English muffins hubby likes. I will freeze them.

I bought clothes for the littlest grandson at the big consignment sale. I had bought some for both at another place last week. Our daughter wants to shop for her son this weekend at the consignment sale, so I did not get anything else for him. Hubby bought dinosaurs for both boys. I got them each a fire truck. Those will go into the Christmas stash. I bought a wooden puzzle to keep here for them.

I am wondering about getting more cooking oil. I bought 2 pounds of lard yesterday. I use it on my cast iron pans. But I am wondering if I need more to cook with. I mainly fry in peanut oil if doing chicken or FF.

Last night I was able to get rid of the armadillo digging up our yard. He was making a mess of it. And it was not easy to walk on rough ground. I will have to shovel dirt back in the holes today. At least he won't be excavating again tonight.

Sherree, if you can put a couple bowls of vinegar on the porch, it may help with the smell. Use plastic or something you don't mind throwing away.

I've had the door and windows open letting the house air out, today, with scented candles burning. I'm still using Febreeze air freshener, too. It's a lot better, but the scent is still here. I don't know what will happen, once the house gets closed up again, tonight. Can I use that bowl of vinegar in the house? At this point, I'll try almost anything.

Frisco had a good bath, but his breath still stinks like skunk! No doggie kisses for awhile, LOL!

Sherree, I grimaced at your smell problem, but don't know of any remedies that have not been mentioned.

We made it back from the big town and the VA. I'm kind of ashamed of myself for distrusting my doctor, she was so nice. Without hesitation she gave me the antivertigo meds, I told her about my fall and she said she understood about why I didn't go to the ER, but said it could have been dangerous with a head injury. I was anxious about my blood pressure but it was really good 108/71, when I checked it last night it was higher. She also told me the doctors are forced to do certain things a particular way even if they don't agree, that made me feel better, although out of caution I will only share certain things with her. I did not mention the ivermax and won't. I did tell her I'm taking a couple of new supplements and that I had gotten, what i consider, a good multi vitamin. She asked if I'd been taking it long enough to notice a difference to which I said "come to think of it I've been feeling really good the last few days".

I also went to Big Lots, I only bought a hand full of things there, their prices seemed really high, made a quick stop at Dollar Tree, added some more cans of Campbells Pork n Beans, 6 cans of green beans and a few other things. Their food stock was down.

Also made it to Walmart, got a flat of green beans, a couple cans each of butter beans, diced potatoes and a few other things. I looked for frozen pie shells and they had a few, although I did not buy any because we would not have been going back home for several more hours. Their shelves looked odd in that things were spread out and fewer selections of canned foods. Their paper products looked fairly well stocked and I did not see a limit sign.

I made it to three stores and then to my doctors appointment. I felt fine and usually after grocery shopping I'm half dead. I did take a nap when we got home. Now to get the stuff I bought out of the truck. Ugh.

DH and I both considered we had a good day.

Oh my stars SB, poor dog and y’all! I hope the “aroma” leaves soon.

Judy- You want to share what multi-vitamin that’s helping you?

Most of my WM and Sam’s orders were delivered today, still have a couple of things floating around out there.

DH and I had planned on making a Sam’s run today but little granddaughter has been a little under the weather so DH went on his own. The two places in the town where we usually get gas had bags over the pumps, not sure what is up with that. He went on to Jackson (I wouldn’t have went along with that at all SMH) and gassed up at Sam’s.

He managed to get most of what was on the list but they didn’t have any heavy cream or frozen biscuits not even a spot for where they should have been. There were some other things that was missing, celery seed, etc. even though you could order them online and were supposed to be in the store. I didn’t want to order online since you have to order a minimum of two of each thing. I’ll probably just make a trip to the Mennonite store to finish up my stock of herbs and spices including sage which always seems to be hard to find in a larger container. He did get paprika, dried chives, parsley, granulated onion, old bay seasoning and he went kind of wild with different Weber’s seasonings (I counted 7 containers).

You can put bowls of vinegar all over the house. Just try not to kick it over. Hopefully Frisco has more sense than my puppy who would drink it. Good luck with the smell. Sometimes it just has to wear off. Sorry, I know you didn't want to hear that.
I tried to take Judy's advice and just let dh fend for himself as far as buying boots goes, since he always tears up his last pair before he says anything. Well I knocked over a boot box in the storage room that was supposed to have new boots in it and it was empty. He had helped himself to every last pair again. I can not let the man go without boots. So the credit card got a good workout this morning. It is next to impossible to find Sasquatch size clothing in normal times. Always requires expensive purchases at multiple stores. Well, you guessed it. Visa put a hold on my credit card. After I told them that that I had made all those purchases, it took them 5 hours to take the hold off. I spent all morning messing with that.
Puppy got her booster shots this afternoon and she started screaming before the vet even stuck her. A bit of a drama queen.

Awana night. Always fun. I helped with the older kids.
Other errands and so on. Tomorrow is appt with pain clinic.
I do believe Judy, I am going to stop at the dollar tree and get some more beef stew and chili. I already ate all I bought.
Daughter had a huge pot of cooked down green beans with onions and pork omg it was good!
She's canning tomatoes. Lots of beans already done so she is cooking the rest down as she picks them.
Boy she has really got the education this year on food production and process. She has the schematic going for next year.
Boys and I harvested the sunflowers. Gallon jar we got.
I got her to put in a few things for cold weather garden and they are coming up great.
It has rained every day I think for a week. My solar isn't liking it.
Hayride for Awana kids Saturday and cookout. Bring a dessert.
That's it for now.

Worked a couple hours extra today, then grocery shopping and took some extra garden stuff to the food bank. They are always so happy to get what I have. Today it was beets, turnips, cabbage, pumpkins, and cantaloupe. Didn't get much at the store - both because I need to watch my pennies, and because the deals weren't that good.

DD and DSIL will be here this weekend - I'm so looking forward to it!!

This week I scrounged every single green tomato I could find in Wasilla and Palmer to use up the last of my green cabbages and a bunch of onions in this years batch of chow chow. I got a new cabbage shredder and it’s delightful; tomorrow I’m setting up a couple half-gallons jars for sauerkraut.

Meanwhile, three canners of chow chow on the shelf. Always have to make extra for all the folks waiting for this years jar, lol.

All my gardens are put away for the year, except the last corner of purple cabbage, kale and collards. They are still looking great even after several days below 20 degrees and a pretty good snowfall. But that ends tomorrow. Will continue working on my garden plans for next year and the seed saving…if anyone wants aspara-broc seed I’ll be happy to share!

We had a place way out in the country and had what seemed like an army of armadillos routinely march through the front yard, up close to the house. They rooted around and trashed up close to the porch that ran the length of the house. I had read somewhere that sprinkling cayenne pepper where they tended to walk and dig discouraged them, so I got those big plastic jars of it from Sam's and sprinkled the contents of two of them where I saw evidence of their digging. I went heavy on the application because I was absolutely DONE with those dang things. It worked! After I did that I only ever saw evidence of them in the "neighborhood" when there was a dead one in the road. :)

Wash your dog in a mixture of baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, and a few drops of dawn soap.
Murphy's Wood Oil soap straight from the bottle poured into your hand and worked into a very wet dog does the trick, too. We had several episodes of our dogs getting a *direct hit*. We soaped them up real well, let it work for about 10 minutes and rinsed well, then repeated. Skunk smell was gone. :rdog:

Did you ever look for something and can't find it and then later found it right where you were looking, frusterating isn't it.

I still think I need more green beans, maybe I've used more than I thought I did. Its one vegetable that DH will eat.

God is good all the time

Happens to me all the time. I blame the House Brownies. They are a type of fairy.

Green beans is the one veg that everyone in the house agrees on here. We stock lots.

We are gagging and almost puking here this morning! Can hardly breathe. About 3 am, our dog started acting like he was going to throw up. Cary got up, and opened the front door to let him outside. All of a sudden, the house got filled with SKUNK spray through the door!!! There must have been a skunk on the porch when Cary opened the door, and he startled it. Now, we're stuck with skunk scent all throughout the house! Dog, too. Even the porch still reeks with the scent. I'm waiting for it to get a bit warmer outside, so I can open the windows on the back. Won't do any good to open the windows on front, cause the scent is still so strong. I've sprayed the entire house with air freshener, but it's not doing much good. Maybe, I should light some scented candles. Doggie will definitely be getting a bath.

A fine way to start the morning! :eye:

So...
Your house smells like the houses on either side of me. Yours is legit, though. I play a game around here called "Is It Plant or Animal?" when I smell anything skunky.

Replaced my e-reader that was in my BOB that was stolen. Now I am working on filling it with books on off-grid living and survival.

I have a nebulizer coming in tomorrow to use with colloidal silver. (Thanx, Mushroom!) I had been putting it off, but hubby has been burning the candle at both ends this week with warehouse audits and welding school. He worked 20 hours today. I expect his immune system to crash from the stress. Better to be prepared for it. He can't miss any more work or he'll be out of a job. Gotta keep him going.

Midfest is this weekend. I hope I make decent money selling my crafts. I take the money I make and buy goldbacks. Other Anarchists be stackin' cryptos. I be stackin' goldbacks.

LOL. He sounds just like Cary. On the rare times Cary has to do the shopping by himself, he comes back home with twice as much as I had on the list. We would go broke if he shopped by himself all the time!

After letting the house air out all day, yesterday, the smell isn't too bad this morning. There is still a faint scent, and I'm airing the house again today. I'm so glad we have the weather for it. Sunny, and nice and warm, but not hot. Low 80's. The fan blowing through the house helps.

I got up this morning, and put a roast in the crock pot to cook all day. That's going to really help with the smell. We'll smell roast cooking, instead of skunk, LOL.

Thanks, everyone, for all your advice! :)

Keeping up with this thread as best I can -- this is my busy time of year!

This morning, I got in a walk first thing on the short trail and saw an eagle on the horizon! The Iowa DNR wrote on their website that there is a nesting pair down by the river now. Our leaves are just starting to turn, so it was a pretty scene. I want to take my kayak out one more time on a perfectly calm morning and get some photos of the turning maples along the shoreline. Physical fitness is a prep for me, and I'm pleased that I have enough energy to get out and enjoy nature!

Finished up a pickup order for tomorrow.
Found a decent sale on meat. Bought 10 lbs of hamburger, 10 lbs of pork country style ribs, a small hormel pork roast and a pound of chicken tenders for 53.00. Not bad.
Finished loading everything on the pantry shelves.
I need drain cleaner, wipes and a few odds and ends.
Have a great day.

Got a two case delivery of green beans last night from walmart, four more cases coming on Saturday.

Can't remember who said something about basil being in short supply, but I ordered a one pound package that came yesterday. Need to vacuum seal most of it. Funny thing is I really don't use it. Suggestions on using basil would be nice.

I also ordered the neck massager that someone in another thread said was heaven, and I agree its wonderful. I kinda had a crick in my shoulder last night and it massaged it right out.

My mouse for my computer died the other day, fortunately I had a new one that Ordered last year when supplies of things were hard to get. I ordered another for back up. My keyboard if funky but still functional, I have a back up for that too.

I'm gathering up the ingredients to make my homemade tooth powder and had to order xylitol for it. I ran out awhile back and have been using different tooth pastes, but I like the tooth powder best.

Got something for my BOB too:

It came yesterday and I like it, nice sharp hidden knife.

I also added some more broccoli sprouting seeds to my stash, now I just have to get some sprouted.

I've had so much trouble getting my online shipments, lately, that I've stopped ordering online. It means making more trips to do in store shopping, but I'm impatient waiting on orders to come. With shipping getting slower and slower, I'm afraid I'll never get what I order, especially when the orders are rather large.

I do all my shopping in a small town (Walmart, TSC, Dollar General, Food Giant), but have to go to big town for Sam's shopping. I like to actually look at what I buy, and if any substitutions are to be made, I want to do it, not someone else.

I do most of my instore shopping at walmart and dollar tree in the town nearest me. SaveALot became piggly wiggly. Since the change over I've gone in there once and I did not like what I saw. Brands I've never seen with higher prices. There is a super one but I rarely go in there.

My walmart orders are not getting on the correct porch, but I'm trying to cut back on those, although not very successfully. I'm not ordering much in the way of food from amazon, way too expensive, although there are rare exceptions.

We would probably still order from Amazon from time to time, but they have screwed up our account, and Cary has tried to get it fixed to no avail. He just finally said to heck with it.

Our Dollar General is about 2 miles from our house. Every little community has one now. In the small town, Walmart, Food Giant, and TSC are all almost in the same parking lot. I don't have to drive all over town.

Did the doc appointment, shot scheduled for Nov 15. They will offer Versed if I want it.
Has anyone had the shot? Epidural steroid injection.

Is Versed a pain medication? The reason I ask, everyone I know that has had this injection has been put to sleep for it first. I assume they're quite painful. I have no firsthand knowledge, though.

Oh no. Yes versed is mild sedative given in iv. That's how hubs always got it. Surgeon said whole thing takes 2 minutes. Start to finish.
My neighbor is having hers done on the 4th. I purposely scheduled mine after hers, so I can get the full report..
I have a panic/anxiety disorder in certain situations. That's why he offered the sedation.
I'm concerned about flare up pain afterward.

Wanderlore, I hope your procedure goes well. Versed should definately help with anxiety. I suppose if you didn't want that you could request a one time dose of Xanax or Ativan to take about 30 to 60 mins before procedure. Many people do that prior to having an MRI.

I went to Aldis. They never had such shortages, even during height of CV. I did find a flat of canned pumpkin. I noticed I only had about 6 cans left. It's really hard to find around here. I also found their generic Flonase. I got a case of their marinara which we like. They were out of their fall wines, but they had macaroons!

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

I'll do the Versed, only 10mg which probably won't be enough lol.
I have had Xanax, Ativan and Valium. None of it affected me at all. I don't know. A 2 min procedure can't be too bad.
It's the flare up pain I'm worried about. Have to up my diabetes meds too.

Starting a several day process in topping off, focusing on energy and long term preps. Stopped at an Asian grocery store looking for butane. They didn't have any, but if you like mushrooms, this place is a gold mine. Half an aisle of nothing but dried mushrooms. I don't care for them though.

To Dollar Tree. Some rice, dried beans, plastic utensils, candy (LOL!), soap, and some candles made it in the basket. My Dollar Tree doesn't usually have a lot of the tall, clear glass religious candles. They had cases and cases today. They were totally out of pasta. I also bought 4 bags of freeze dried strawberries. They are small, but I will repackage them into a glass jar. My grandkids really love strawberries.

My Dollar Tree was actually better stocked today than it has been in a while. I was surprised.

I totally understand how you feel. When it comes to me going to the dentist, I AM a big baby. He gives me Valium to take 30 mins, before I get there. He also uses gas on me. I had to have a root canal done, once, and he gave me a warm tea to drink when I got to the office. Knocked me out the whole day. It had Triazolam dissolved in it. I love my dentist, LOL!

As for the spinal injection, I guess it all depends on the person. DS with MS has to have them from time to time, and my late sister had several over the years. The doctor always gave her something to knock her out. They didn't with DS. You should do fine with the Versed.
