Speaking of gas cans, I bought four new ones last year and I just ordered 3 gas cans and 1 for diesel. DH grumbled about where to put them, LOL. Two of our generators are dual fuel, but the biggest one is gas powdered. Normally we rotate our stored gas through our vehicles, but lately when we are in town we've been filling the vehicle up at the gas station.

Picked up my pick up order at a different walmart. This one had the canned zucchini, I now have 5 cases, I can rest easy, LOL, plus more cases of water and the no sugar added mandarin oranges. Resisted going in the store and its a new one in that town. We have a large stock of canned meat, and really everything else.

We ate out at Kentucky Fried Chicken, only three people in the place. No masks. It is what it is.

How do you use the heavy cream powder? Does it have a good shelf life? Is butter powder for cooking?
You can use it in soups, casseroles, ect. You can also reconstitute them and use as cream and butter. I've not used them yet. A youtuber, Rain Country, recommended them. She had success keeping them for several years vacuum sealed. Sorry, that's all I know. The reviews on them are good. Some people even used them for "bullet proof coffee".

I managed to get 14 quarts worth of veggies peeled/chopped and canned yesterday. I even managed to clean up most of the disaster I made in the kitchen before dropping on the couch until I could make it to the bedroom. I need to leave myself a note.
Self: don’t try and do that again, you haven’t been 30 yrs old in over 30 yrs and can’t/shouldn‘t do things like that anymore.

Both DH and I overdid yesterday. Today for the most part we just lazed around with the Princess playing games, watching cartoons and watching her playing in a big Sam’s box with her babies (dolls and stuffed animals). Cardboard boxes are the best toys ever. She’s really at a perfect age to be a lot of fun and talking enough to carry on a conversation.

I need to get my jars from yesterday cleaned up and labeled for the pantry tomorrow and get them out of the kitchen. There’s so much I wanted to get done this weekend but unless I get a burst of energy from somewhere, not to mention I’m footsore from being on my feet so much the past few days, I don’t see it happening.

Our apple trees didn’t put on anything last year but they’ve been loaded this year and now that they’re starting to ripen the deer are munching away. DH picked some and put in the fridge in the basement then went out this afternoon and a deer was eating off our winesap tree on the other side of the house. We don’t mind sharing but they take more than their share! Squirrels decimated the peaches again, grrr. The couple that we got to, were delicious.

I gathered up the few tomatoes that DH had picked and were getting over ripe and just about filled two gallon ziplocks of whole tomatoes and put them in the freezer, at least this way they won't completely rot.

The time may come when I need to eat squirrel pie but I hope not. I ate way more than I wanted of it growing up because you ate what was put on the table! I’ve had it fried, baked, stewed, squirrel and dumplings, pretty much anyway my aunt could think of since squirrel was my uncle’s favorite to hunt and eat and I stayed with them a lot (my mom just fried it). I much preferred venison.

I‘ll suggest the netting to DH for next year, thanks.

Got a good lead on a puppy that I will be going to meet this afternoon. The lady that is giving her away told me to come mid-afternoon, I would have been at her house at 7AM. Hopefully she won't give her away before I get there, and I won't have made a 2 1/2 hour round trip for nothing. Please cross your fingers and think good thoughts for me. I couldn't sleep last night.

I've got another 5 gal bucket of tomatoes in the kitchen ready to process, and put in the freezer. After these, I'm going to be giving them away to Mom and DDIL. I don't want to take up any more room in the freezer for them. I'll eventually have around 20 qt bags.

Stormy and rain for the next few days, but we're planning to split and stack more firewood this afternoon. We're getting a break from having to water everything. Not as hot, either, but still humid.

We're watching the Tropics......

I hope the puppy works out! I know how much you've been wanting one.

We had a bad storm last night, and lost power for at least 2 hours. My battery phone charger, and Dollar Tree hand fan were worth their weight in gold!

Awesome! And I just bought a second phone charger. That one will live in my bug out bag, along with an extra wall charger, with a USB port.

Today, I went to two farmers markets (that's four this week). Some take-aways: the larger tomatoes look awful. Glad I grew cherry tomatoes. Potatoes were very small, and the eggplants were also under-sized. Cukes, corn, green beans looked the best overall. Not much summer squash yet. That's late because of all the heat. Peppers were mixed: in general the smaller ones fared much better. Ditto: berries. I'm going to go pick gooseberries sometime in the next couple of days: they are at peak. I like blueberries better, but I haven't seen any. The early ones are normally available in mid-late July.

I think my potatoes look a little better that what I've seen, but they are on the small side, too. I'm looking for another source. In general, potatoes in my area are an after thought. To the east, where there are more Germans, they take their taters more seriously and pamper them. They also grow Superior Whites (potato chip potatoes!) which need TLC. I haven't been successful growing them here, yet.

Finally got a 6" gooseberry pie! Mmmm. I love August berries!

I got her! She's half Blue Heeler, and long and skinny like a whippet. About 6 mos. old, and really cute when she puts her ears up. She's already met the chickens and 2 of the horses, and she's terrified of all of them. She and the barn cat are sidling each other, I think they'll be fine. The big old house cat who rules the place came out and checked her over, said, "Meh." and walked off. My kitten is hiding under the bed but he'll get used to her. She likes cats. And naturally, she prefers my husband over me.
As much as I love all my other animals, there's just an empty place that only a dog fills.

I cannot tell a lie, I went into Academy Sporting Goods today without a mask, no sign on the door. Got a new pair of shoes and they were on sale. I would have gotten them anyway even if they were regular price. The new ones I got a few months back are almost too tight since I've gained weight and not lost any.

We went to KFC again in another town, Dh really likes their chicken, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it on my own.

Also, I bought DH a 22LR revolver with a 6" barrel. Now I get my small 22LR hand gun back from him, its a Taurus P22.

No grocery stores though. I think my fear has passed about going in a store, but I need nothing from the grocery store.

I got a message about the fuel cans I ordered, they are back ordered because of a high demand, go figure.

I took some stuff to the sheltered workshop to donate. I am glad all that stuff is gone. I need to get rid of more soon.

We have added a little more to the pantry. But there is only so much room.

I spent last night with my mother in law. It was my turn to stay. My father in law went into the nursing home Thursday. He did not want to go. It was sad, but he has dementia and was stressing his wife terribly. She said she had not slept in their room since 1994. She slept in her bed the last 2 nights. He was a difficult man. The nursing home gave him a shower even though he did not want one. He has only had a sponge bath for the last 2 years because he could not get in the tub. And they would not let any of the kids redo the bathroom. My mother in law is getting weaker by the day. I don't know how much more time she has. But her last little bit at home will be restful and peaceful. Poor Pete wanted to know if she would come see him. He just can't grasp that she is dying.

We went to the liquor store and bought more Jack Daniel's than I ever thought we would at one time. Hubby hurt his back getting his dad's wheelchair out the door to the transport van. But I wanted to make sure we had at least something for pain in storage. I also bought extra bio freeze. We use that every night where he hurts. I need to get more to put back.

Our son's divorce is final. I am glad that is over.

I have been gathering elderberries as they ripen. It is a pain because they are not getting ripe all at the same time. Even on the same head they are not ripening evenly. But I have harvested more than i thought i would. Tomorrow may be my last day to gather berries.

I am going to have to buy tomatoes and okra to can my okra creole. The varmints eat my tomatoes before they begin to ripen.

Blueheelers are great, smart dogs. Congratulations!

Digger, we have found Blu Emu ointment to be very helpful for muscle pain, including the generic one at Dollar General.

Anyone freeze store bought eggs? How did you like them? There's a sale. I'm thinking of buying more than we could eat in a couple weeks.

We finally got some rain! Hopefully more this week. : )

the muffin trays for the smaller sized muffins work well - make your frozen hockey pucks and bag them in handy usage packs ...

was actually thinking about doing a batch - Kroger has the 18 packs for 97c - got down to 79c at one time 6 months ago ....
