Time to get off my duff and stop looking at Ida stuff. Nothing I can do. Got lots to do around here. DH has been feeling poorly off and on the last few days but is better today. Its supposed to be hot, but he'll probably work outside anyway.

I dehydrated some fresh vegetables and I need to dehydrate more out of the freezer.

Keystone ground beef is tasty. I'm not ordering anymore because I get canned ground beef in commodities. Plus I don't use it regularly. The window for me to be able to place pricey orders has closed. However, I'm in good shape.

Placed an order for seeds from Rare Seeds. Still free shipping.
Put in my Walmart order.
Got the canned goods moved to the shelves and organized.
Dh feels bad hopefully he's not getting sick. We spent the morning yesterday at a small hospital getting his stress test done. I had the waiting room all too myself and wore a mask. Took my preventives.

Cary and I use Xlear nasal spray when we go out in public, plus a mask. Right now, Mississippi is over run with new cases, and our county is one of the worst. It just seems prudent to us to take a bit of extra precaution.

I got my Sam's, Chewy, and Pleasant Hill orders off. I hope it doesn't take 3 1/2 weeks for my Sam's order to arrive this time. I was taking a look at TSC this morning, and I'll be ordering clothing from them next payday, hopefully. Cary and I, both, need more long sleeve T's, and we like their Carhartt brand.

Shopping list for tomorrow is all made out. I need more cans of Spam to round out my 52 cans. Also, I'm still buying more flats of different varieties of canned veggies (butter beans, cabbage, squash, mustard greens) to add to the basics. That's about it this go around at the grocery store.

I'm bored, today. Nothing on "Main" to catch my attention.

I made myself do a Chewy order and a WM pick up order. Hopefully WM will go as smoothly as last time and I will just have to run in and pick up ice cream.
I was planning on doing nothing tomorrow, but I have to go and pick up parts for my car, which will be a little over a 2 hour trip, with no ac... usually I love living in the middle of no where, but not when I'm so far away they won't deliver.

Got eyes checked and glasses ordered this morning. You know, there are really some very lovely people out there. Took care of some business at the bank (who is down 3 employees in the loan department - it's a little weird), then to the grocery store where I ran into 2 LEOs I know - again, there are some really lovely people out there.

Went to town, treated me and the Lord to some quality time. Did errands. Dollar tree, WM, thrift store etc.
Then to hospital for CT on back. Nearly had a panic attack. Which is wierd as it's all wide open.
Get results tomorrow.
Boys and I are having our nightly cookout over the fire in the grill at the cabin. Burgers, Le suer peas, chips and smores.
Also picked up fencing stuff and vax for kittens TSC.
I see they have some pretty nice fruit trees, $30 each. Might go back. Have to stay on budget. But they are a good buy.

Ps: son doing good after vax. Dosed him with iver and he is taking his suppliments.
Truly. He has been splashed by so many patients the last year. I'm sure he's had one or both forms of this. He has had a couple spells of what he thought of as a cold.
One of my sister's has now disowned me for not getting the shots. She just knows we're all going to die.
I'm certain I've had the regular Rona and the delta so far. Not bad time of it.

Mine are gluten-free but just use regular flour if your don't need the gluten-free. These are very sweet. You could cut back on the sugar if you wish. I use coconut to hold the cookies together better. If you had regular flour the coconut would be optional.

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe
Ingredients
1 cup gluten-free flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon baking soda
¾ teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened to room temperature
1 cup brown sugar
½ cup granulated sugar
3 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
3 cups oatmeal (either regular or quick) or rolled oats
1 and ¾ cups semisweet chocolate chips
Shredded Coconut
Instructions
In a small bowl, mix together flour, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
In a large bowl beat butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar for 2-3 minutes, until creamy. Add eggs and vanilla extract and beat until combined. Add flour mixture and beat just until combined. Don’t over mix. Add oats and chocolate chips, and keep beating just until combined. The less you mix, the softer the cookies will be. Dough will be sticky and soft at this point, so I highly recommend chilling it for at least 30-60 minutes. Cover and place in the fridge.
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Drop rounded balls of dough onto baking sheets, about 1-1/2+" diameter. Bake for 13-15 minutes, until cookies just begin to brown at the edges and center is still soft. Keep batter in fridge between batches to make it easier to handle. Place cookies on a wire rack to cool completely.
I usually add coconut to help hold the cookies together (and for taste). Use raisins instead of or with the chocolate chips. Dried cranberries or dried cherries (dried cherries are the best!) work well too along with dried blueberries or most any dried fruit.

Turnips plus all fall crops are up! Planted on Sat right before and during a rain shower! Still have to plant onions in the next week or two. Today I am cleaning inside. Daughter coming in on Sat. But the real reason for cleaning is all the food prep done in the summer kitchen all summer. My stove was a mess. Unfortunately I have just been wiping after a canning session but today it has been taken apart and cleaned! My fridge in the summer kitchen that is home to eggs and extra produce has been cleaned. I feel sooo much better! Hope to plant some mums in my outdoor pots where the ducks have eaten the petunias. I would also like to bushhog. Mums around the mailbox are in full bloom and the poplars are turning bight yellow along with the ginkos. Muscadines are turning also. All of this is about 2-4 weeks early. World outlook seems more grim everyday but we continue to cling to the God of Hope. My honey and I both feel like we have done all that we have been shown to do and I feel like I am in a place of rest. Anyone else feel that way?

Cary informed me this morning that I had already spent all of my bi/monthly grocery budget on all of the online orders I placed, yesterday. So, I had to curtail my spending, today, at the grocery store, since I had to use money from our emergency fund. We went hog wild 2 weeks ago buying stuff, and over spent then, too. I've got to bring myself back within budget with my spending from now on. I really felt bad about it. I feel like it's God's way of telling me to slow down, work within my budget, and trust Him with it all. I still feel that sense of urgency, but there's no reason to get crazy overboard with it.

All I bought today was 4 12 can flats of butter beans, cabbage, mixed vegetables, and purple hull peas, 6 cans of Cream of Chicken, 5lb sack of corn meal, 1 gal milk, 2 doz eggs, 2 cans of Spam, 1 can of baking powder, and 6 1lb slubs of ground beef. It doesn't help when the price of everything is going up and up each trip I make.

I'm satisfied and thankful for this round of shopping, plus all of my online orders. I'm done for another 2 weeks.

We like yellow squash boiled with onions just until tender. Drain. Add butter and a little Velveeta cheese. Stir till cheese melts. Hubby loves it.

I got two packages of supplements in the mail today. That puts us in a little better shape there. I am thinking about ordering a rather large order. My Plexus is expensive. But I don't want to ever run out. It has literally given me my life back. Now even the old dog takes the Plexus Ease for pain that my husband takes. :xpnd:

Our daughter had surgery on her leg. I stayed with her and the grandson while her hubby went to work yesterday. The dr did not tell them anything about the knot, but they did take a picture of it for her. I hope she gets the lab results on it at her follow up visit. She can walk on her foot for a short time, like bathroom trips. Her hubby took today off to stay with her. Tomorrow if he takes there son to his other grandparents, our daughter thinks she can stay by herself while hubby works. If not I will go stay with her. My hubby will need to go stay with his mom till I can get there. Tomorrow is my night to spend with her. Hubby's back can not stand their bed or couch all night. And he sleeps with a c-pap machine that he can't do without. But the bathroom care she needs help with at times, she may not want her sons doing.

Hubby went to see his dad at the nursing home. He was not impressed. His dad was clean. But he is losing weight. And hubby felt he was over medicated as were 60% of the residents he saw. They were just slumping over in there chairs with their heads hanging down. His dad has dementia and gets agitated. He has medication for anxiety, but hubby thinks they are over doing it. And when he first went in, the day nurse was not giving him his pain medication. He has been disabled and on pain medication for 40 years. He was probably having withdrawal when he was being difficult and he was probably hurting too. At home he would get difficult when his pain was not controlled. It was just so sad. He did not recognize hubby either. But there were days he did not know his family when he was home. About 34 years ago, my dad walked around his yard and walked to the creek. He came in and sat down and died of a massive heart attack. I have always thought he was a blessed man to go fast. Thanks for letting me ramble a bit.

Digger, have your husband go in to the NH the next time the doctor or NP is there to discuss concerns. You can also schedule a care team meeting at most facilities. There are a lot of restrictions on over medicating people. There are so many things that could be impacting his father's energy and mood. Don't assume it's meds (though it may be part of the issue.) Definately discuss concerns at least with unit manager. Usually you can find out a lot from a good floor nurse or CNA too. Being nice to the staff is better than being nasty, at least at first. If the facility doesn't care about your concerns, it's time to find a new facility or bring him home with private duty nursing.

Father in law is being checked for medical issues such as UTI. He is in under hospice. He has numerous health issues along with the dementia. It may also be moving him to someplace besides home but he was more alert at home though not in the real world. He could never grasp that his wife is very sick and can't care for him anymore. She has been battling cancer 6 years. She has stopped all treatment and only has a short time left. Hubbys dad was moved to give his mom some peace her last days. It is incredibly sad. I heard from hubby's sister. Their dad seems better today. Still confused, but not like yesterday. Thank you for the advice. Hubby's sister is dealing with the nursing home officially. She has learned a lot lately.

OMG, my brother just called and said he will be here tonight, and bringing his 14 y/o granddaughter with him. Only notice is he's leaving his house in San Antonio now. I've got a lot to do and no energy to do it. Please pray for me.

Praying! Take some aspirin (or whatever you use for aches and pains) put on some upbeat music and do a quick declutter, sweep and call it good. People even family- who invite themselves without any notice don't get perfect houses to visit-cat least, not out in the country!

I've been doing a lot of shopping the last couple of weeks, and I think I have filled in the last nook and cranny in my house :) BOBO coupons on things like Aspercreme got me stocked up on those. Lots of canned chicken in the last couple of weeks as well. Little things like tootsie pops, soup, toilet bowl cleaner, dish soap, laundry soap, cat treats, water, gatorade, and on and on. Bought five more pounds of ground chuck to can tomorrow.

Two price increases that jumped out at me: distilled water at WM has been 80 cents a gallon forever. Last week it was up to 98 cents a gallon. Gatorade (32 oz bottles) have been $1 forever at WM also. Last week they were $1.18. Pretty significant increases.

Meat prices are insane. Winn Dixie was selling pork chops at $5.98 a pound today. I got the ground chuck at $3.49 a pound, but all of the other beef was high. Didn't even look at chicken. Glad I have two freezers full of stuff I bought cheap!

(BTW, I am in north central Florida)

thanks ST, I'm doing the best I can, its called a clear path to the couch, a clean bed and a clean commode. It would take more than a quick declutter, but I'm doing what I can. I took something for pain, put on my back brace and than I had to deal with the dissieness and back pain. But I'm making some progress.

Everywhere I look it says buy more food, but they don't tell you where to put it all. But I'm blessed.

I finally got all the groceries and storage food I bought, yesterday, dated, rotated, and put away. Started my list for the next 2 weeks shopping. I'm trying to stay within my budget this time. I got a notice this morning that some of my Sam's order will be coming, today. Looks like it's all going to be shipped in different shipments and on different days, again.

I'm doing a big load of laundry to hang on the clothesline. It's going to be a beautiful day. Sunny skies with temps in the mid 80's and no humidity.

Since last Saturday, Cary has another 2 trailer loads of firewood to split and stack. He's going to get started on that, today. This should give us, at least, another cord of firewood to put in rotation. I've been hearing some talk about us having a bad winter this year, so more firewood is always a good thing.

DS and DDIL have invited us to their house for a backyard BBQ tomorrow afternoon. We're looking forward to that. I got volunteered to bring deviled eggs. The weather is going to be perfect for that, too.

My brother has come and gone, it was a nice visit. He did come with gifts, DH is happy. We have enough ribs and bacon ends and pieces to last many months. He took pictures of my pantry and gasped. He's headed off to visit a college friend and then back home. I did manage to get some clearing out before he got here. I'm tired though, we stayed up late talking and then he gets up a lot earlier than I do, so I got up too.

ETA: Plus three cases of Margaret Homes canned cabbage.

It's hot here but we need to work on the garage at the farm. We got hit with a "might be lead paint on the garage" because the house is 120 years old. Whatever. We remediated all of the paint in the house. The new owners are going to take it down to the studs so this is just stupid. Oh well.
Other than that we are taking most of the weekend and having some fun. There's a farm an hour away that has 5 acres of sunflowers in bloom we are going to. Then I'm smoking some leg quarters for dinner tomorrow. Hot dogs for Monday.
Have a good weekend.

I received one of my Sam's packages, yesterday. 2 cases of Bush's pinto beans, 2 cartons of dehydrated hash browns, and 1 bottle of Aleve. I might get the rest, today. More coffee and toiletry items such as soap, shaving cream, lozenges, shampoo/conditioner, etc.

Chewy and Keystone meat has yet to be delivered.

I got all my laundry done, yesterday. I'm cleaning house this morning, and have already got the deviled eggs done, and in the fridge for the BBQ this afternoon.

DS's trip to Texas and back went good. He still has to wait 30 days, before his divorce is final. His attorney will send him the final notice at that time, without him having to make a trip back out there. We all will be so glad when this chapter is over! Also glad there were no children involved.

LOL. Correction, Chewy was just delivered. Yay! More doggie treats and food to add to his "stash".
