ALERT WARNING: Bringing Over Twitter Tweets

TB2K Girls with Guns
Maybe someone who knows coding can explain this better than I'm going to do, and if so.....feel free to jump in and explain.
Some of these are screen grabs from last night's X22 report video, (8/11/22) that might explain better than I can, though I will try.

Twitter is tracking where it's tweets end up and who shared them due to extra characters in its address.

About 6 months ago I noticed all those letters and numbers in the Twitter address. Had no idea exactly what they meant but decided to only copy everything in the twitter address bar BEFORE the ?.

Example: Say I bring over a tweet with the clean link (everything in front of the ? ) I grabbed this post as an example off this thread BRKG - Trump’s home being raided by the FBI

2.JPG

But UNDER the tweet, after it's posted here, Twitter embeds/attaches it's own link to the original link with a ? added, followed by a string of alpha and numeric characters.....

As I said in the opening of this post, I didn't know or like the ? and all those alpha-numeric characters that followed it showing up at the bottom of the tweets I bring over here. So, say I go over to Disclosetv on twitter, find one of their tweets interesting enough to bring over here, so I click on it to get the direct link, and this is what Twitter gives me......

current.JPG

But I don't want to bring over the highlighted part of the address onto TB2k because I was leery of all those extra characters and NOW I know they're trackers, so before I bring the link for the tweet over here to post, I'll delete the ? and everything behind it, hit 'enter' to refresh the screen and this is the link Twitter now shows me....

Clean.JPG

So, I'll copy the CLEAN link and post it over here.

Annnnd, for whatever reason, Twitter did not post their ? alpha-numeric tracking link under the post I brought over, as it did for Vector's post in the example I showed you above. (Maybe Twitter knows I'm 'telling' on them and decided to behave for this tweet).

Anyway, does anyone know if Twitter can ding/go after ME AS THE POSTER for not bringing over their original, long, tracking link AS WELL AS go after Dennis as the board owner? (BTW: I was banned from Twitter in 2018 so don't know what happened t my Twitter account - if they can track me through that).

Thanks in advance.

I stopped clicking on most twitter links. I also have them blocked so the links here don't post excerpts and I just skip by them without knowing what people posted. On the rare event I want to post anything from there then I just do a screen capture and post it. Most of the time I just end up with the lock screen at twitter anyways. Screw them.

My twitter doesn't , but I found that links from e-mail subscriptions notices do for posts like the Daily Caller. It is not just twitter. I do clean my computer of trackers and cookies twice a day so I don't inadvertently bring something in.

I just had my Twitter account permently suspended for no reason. I rarely post. I only read or retweet a few posts. Haven't done anything in days. Are they purging members who support Conservative views?

Amazon puts identifying information in the link as well, as we've discussed in the past. Always try to post the most terse link you can.

Probably.

They're likely getting ready to scuttle the place before Musk can really get in there.....

To broaden this subject out, it's not just Twitter links. Any website link a person adds to here to/on TB, that website will know about it. Regardless, whether the "?cxt...." text is there or not.

The link becomes a "backlink", which is easily trackable.

I track these "SEO" metrics on a daily basis.

Here's a few of TB's most recent "backlinks" that point back to TB:

So all those lib/socialist/marxist media/msm links we add on here, that site can see and track it. Including how many visitors click on it from here. Which, unless you're using a VPN, they now have your IP address.

If one of the admins want a complete report for TB in .pdf format, let me know. I'd be glad to run one. Send me a pm if interested. I have unlimited use of the software.

Roughtly how many backlinks track back to tb2k?

Tracking the exact number is difficult. No analytics software will catch them all.

For tb2k, one analytics site has the number at 12,801. The number is in the screenshot with the red circle around it with the red arrow pointing to it in my original post.

I ran tb2k through a different program and that one came up with 15.6k.

Now, next question, do we want to limit those down? If so do we want to go back and edit links to remove the back tracks to lower that number? Or is that something we should even consider or do?

If you're asking about the links we post in tb2k, all-in-all, there's really no reason to not post links here. For those that are concerned about their IP address being exposed to other sites, use a VPN or a Tor browser or something.

Like the Twitter links..Twitter has billions of links linking back to their site (backlinks). For an international site that large, tb2k would have to cause serious issues to appear on their radar.

Let me rephrase. What do we need to do to make that number next to zero?

Web browsers cough up the browser version, computer OS version and IP address (among other things) to any sites they visit.

There is no reason to stop posting links on here from other sites. TB2K and it's members are not at risk, unless someone does something really stupid. With all of the news articles we post here, we have to post the link back to the original for attribution. News sites use "duplicate content" scanners. So backlinks are mandatory. Most of TB2K is an "open to the public" site, after all.

Twitter links and other social type aggregator links could be minimized by going to the original source of the content and then copy-n-paste the original link back on here, instead of posting Twitter's post link, and that's only if there is an original article link in the social post.

If you're asking about stopping people from posting TB2K's links on other sites? That's simply not possible.
