Text message from fqdwic@messaging.nextel.com
Subject:SPAM
message: wachovia has limited your debit card.

I don't have a wachovia card. Called the number and an robo voice asks for your wachovia card number.

Jason - 13 Jan 2010
My wife and I both got one of those, neither of us have wachovia.

Nick - 13 Jan 2010
I just got one of these as well, I'm assuming that all Wachovia Debit cards begin with 4828.

Jared - 13 Jan 2010
I just got one as well stating the same thing. Strange thing is, i have wachovia, but i got the message on my work phone...Total bogus

R Garner - 13 Jan 2010
I got one of the messages saying that Wachovia had limited my ATM card, but I don't even use them and won't as long as I have a choice. Seems like the police should handle this joker.

Got the following text message from itisyv@messaging.sprintpcs.com:

"Subject: [SPAM]
WachoviaHasLimitedYour4828XXXXXXXXXXXXCard.
ToReactivateCall: 7325727050"

I called Wachovia and they said they've been getting a lot of phone calls from numerous customers about this. It's fraudulent phishing and DO GIVE ANY INFORMATION TO ANYONE AT THE NUMBER PROVIDED. Apparently, Sprint's firewall is easy to hack and all Wachovia's debit cards begin with 4828.

Got the same thing thru tet message.called the number and it sounded almost real so they must have been hacking wachovia 24/7 banking automated service to get the same recording. Call ur wachovia, havee ur card blocked and everything should be fine.

Got the same thing just now. Not a Wachovia customer to begin with but the fact that its a message from someone with a SPRINT address gives it away easy as a scam.

peach01 - 14 Jan 2010
I received this text message and I also work in the Fraud Department for Wachovia. Wachovia does not and I repeat does not send out text messages to their customer about limiting your card. You will receive a call or a letter if can not be reached by phone. If any questions, please call the telephone number on the back of your card.

There have been several numbers reported. Most of them start with a (732) but there are also some that have been reported with a (646) area code. Why would a major bank have you call a number that was not toll free?
