I planned to pick up some fluids, belts and fuses. Then the battery died. It was at the end of its useful life but who thinks preps for a battery? Until now not me.

I replaced my truck battery with an optima battery. They pretty long-life. The summer heat here eat regular batteries.

They used to be great.

Johnson Controls bought Optima a few years ago.

Started seeing more failures, a lot more.

AGM batteries will probably last longer than an Optima. My experience is similar to Millright's.

My neighbor had an Optima battery that was 7 years old and still worked. That was why I made my decision to get one. We will see at some point whether it was a good decision or not.

I saw a lot of the older ones go seven years.

They were bulletproof.

Hopefully, you got a good one.

From what I've seen, they are just inconsistent now.

Friend who owns a battery shop likes the NorthStar AGMs, but I have no personal experience with them.
