Type 2 Diabetes, alternative med?????

I for one developed Type 2 Diabetes due to HIGH STRESS, and while yes I do have a few pounds over the norm, I'll have to live with genetic issues of having a father and grandfather built just like me.

What I really need beside a HUGE cache of pills is some alternative meds for this issue in case TSHTF, and besides I do have a pretty good supply on hand, I just want to extend them for a very long time.

I know about exercise and diet, but exercise even low impact makes me build mass, so I look like a human tank at 5-10 at 220, my diet is LOW SUGAR IF NO SUGAR, even keep the fruitose, glucose, maltose and all the other OSES well under control.
My glucose level with 2000 mg of AVANDAMET recommended dose via doctor cruises a normal 95 however I have cut it down to 1000mg without much impact, under stress in drops to 80, doc put me on BENECAR and NORVASC for BP.... it was 135/80, I asked why and he informed me, to make sure your kidneys are never stressed. :sht:

My metabolism is HIGH, I heel for normal wounds in ten days or less, my blood work is well within the norms for last three years....

I take 1000 mg of E, 500 of C, 1000 mg of Milk Thissle, 100mg of Alpha Lipolic Acid, and 100mg of Co Q 10 on a regular basis.

Any thoughts on alternative meds and other suggestions?? :shr:

I use fenugreek as well as cinnamon for sugar uptake. I also take starch blocker so I can vary my diet a bit as I am very limited with my allergies. I take hawthorne berry to keep my heart healthy. I take bilberry to keep my eyesight in good shape. I take ginger and dandelion root to keep kidneys from being stressed and digestion good. The dandelion root helps my liver as well. I drink plenty of water to keep my sugar diluted. I take passion flower at night to help keep my BP normal and to assist me to sleep. I use Metformin pills as prescribed for diabetes. Hope this helps.

chromium and selenium and fiber

I agree about the chromium. Also selenium is supposed to help Blood sugar.

I also read somewhere to avoid high glycemic index foods - that is food that turns into glucose rapidly. basically for carbs you want to eat complex carbs that take a long time to digest. You can Google glycemic index for info.

I also read that it helps to take some of that fiber type laxative like metamucil before meals because that will also slow down digestion and help control sugar - of course it also helps if you are constipated!

I read somewhere about some types of diabetes possibly being caused by the lack of one of the omega 3 oils, the plant sourced one found in fresh flax oil, walnuts and purslane. This omega3 oil is the one our bodies can not synthesize from the others. This needed nutrient is substituted for when it is not present. The substitute the body grabs for the job is usually partially hydrogenated crap like from crisco and 98% of all convenience foods today. This modified oil is sort of close, but it said that it does not allow proper transport of insulin and other needed chemicals through the cell walls.

Of course the article also claimed over 90% success treating cancers and all kind of stuff with flax oil and cottage cheese blended together, something about the concentration of the sulfurous proteins in the cottage cheese working with the flax oil. Surely something with a 90% success with prostate and breast cancers would be better known than this.

fish oil and flaxseed oil

I take about 3 gram daily of fish oil and flaxseed oil for cholesterol lowering effect.

I also eat bowl of slow-cook oats daily so not sure which one does the trick.

beats taking one of those prescription statin drugs from the BIg PHarma pushers.

The day before yesterday i was talking to an ICU nurse from the Phillipines and he mentioned that there is a Phillipino fruit red in color that is juiced to make an extract that reduces the need for RX meds... he said his sister takes it and it reduced her need for metaformin to zero, with a little diet and exercise. He told me the name but I'll be danged if I could pronounce it or spell it.

Anyone heard about this fruit???

I also heard about a new discovery. It's called Salacia Oblonga. You're supposed to take 1000 mg a day. It's not widely available yet though.
