NEW: Two teens in California awarded $1 million after being accused of 'blackface' while wearing acne cream, forcing them out of their elite Catholic school.

The teens sued Saint Francis High School after initially seeking $20M.

The photos were taken in 2017 but reemerged after the death of George Floyd in 2020 when they were shared in a group chat.

The photo was shared on the same day that a meme of George Floyd was shared among students as well, sparking more outrage.

The photo began circulating and instead of investigating the matter, the school submitted to the pressure from students and parents.

"Defendants took it upon themselves to use the innocent and wholly unrelated photograph of the boys to make the malicious and utterly false accusation that the boys had been engaging in 'blackface,' and to recklessly assert that the photograph was 'another example' of racism at SFHS," the lawsuit says.
