TECH Trouble with YouTube and other videos

I’m using an iPad that’s 3-4 years old, with the Safari browser.

Sometimes in the middle of a video, I’ll get a black screen with the spinning circle. If it allows me to reload the page, it almost always goes to an ad, and then starts to play correctly.

Other times, while watching, my video will just disappear, I go back to a white page, and I get some small text saying something like “we had a problem and reloaded the page.“ But the video doesn’t restart on its own. Either I have to click the reload icon and the video plays, or clicking reload does nothing and I have to go back and find the video again and start all over.

Does anyone else have these issues, or know how to make them stop?

Last question: DH says my iPad messes up like this because I have too many tabs open at one time. I’ll pull up the Main page here, and when I see a post I want to read/watch, I’ll “open in background.” Sometimes I’ll have 8-10 tabs open. I’ve told him if Apple/Safari didn’t want us to open more than one tab at once, they wouldn’t have developed that ability. Any comment?

DH is correct.... Its all a matter of bandwidth. Have him explain that to you.

Maybe use the Youtube app instead of watching it via Safari.

Also reboot the iPad occasionally as sometimes the scripts go wonky and the machine had to be reset. The first step in troubleshooting any computer is to do a reboot and see if the issue clears up. Video especially takes a lot of memory and if you have a lot of tabs open you can run out of resources.

see if it acts up at the apple store. if not it is your internet...

You might try installing an ad blocker on your browser. It would help prevent video ads and lessen problems caused by them trying to load.
