Toyota Corolla Owners

I've had a couple of things come up on my 98 that seem to be common with gen 8 (98-02) Corollas. First was a PS pump shaft failure. $55 for a salvage pump off a 2000 model and several hours labor and I had it fixed.
The latest one is a bit more frustrating and according to the Toyota forums I read, is another common issue. The Bolt that secures the serpentine belt tensioner sheared off, leaving the rest of the bolt in the engine block. If there was enough room between the front of the motor and the rt side fender wall, it could be drilled and removed. No joy. Now, I'm doing all this...

<snip>Yes ,valve cover , drive belt, alternator, power steering pump , pass side engine mount, water pump( drain coolent), crank pulley, crankshaft position sensor, timing chain tensioner, pan bolt into timing chain cover. Yes lots of work. I would buy a manual before tearing this far into the engine.
I'm starting to miss my older Toyotas. They seemed to have less issues...:shr:
