The Savaging of Sarah Palin and the ‘Uncouthness’ of Barack Obama

By Vicki McClure Davidson * Frugal Café Blog Zone
Conservative talk-show-hero Rush Limbaugh, on today’s EIB radio show, illustrated how false images can be so easily created and magnified. For good or for evil.
Rush was right. Let’s go back to pre-election times—before November 2008. Two separate images, created and magnified at about the same time, for contrast/comparison:
The mainstream press, zealous liberals, Hollywood celebrities, Democrats, and many Republicans, about then-Sen. Barack Obama: He’s so elegant and calm and intelligent and suave. So cool and soothing and well-spoken. He went to Harvard! He dresses so well! Look at how cute he and his wife look together holding hands! Oprah endorses him! He cares about the poor, about me! Obama’s for hope and change and taking money away from those greedy rich people, so I’ll vote for him. His pet projects, issues, Senate voting record, Senate accomplishments, ideological foundation, and personal political agenda? Why do I need to know any of those? He’s for change, dammit, and that’s all I need to know…

Alaska's Gov. Sarah Palin

The mainstream press, zealous liberals, Hollywood celebrities, Democrats, and many Republicans, about Gov. Sarah Palin: How vulgar and uncouth! She’s so middle-class and stupid. She didn’t go to an Ivy League university, so she must be a moron. And that folksy accent of hers? Can’t stand it! Oh, and she had a baby with Downs Syndrome. How selfish of her that she brought this retarded baby into the world and didn’t have an abortion. And how horrible that she carries him around in public, using him like a prop, acting like she’s a real mom! I’ll bet he isn’t even her baby… prob’ly is the baby of her trampy daughter Bristol. Palin also likes to kill wolves and moose, so she’s a religious hypocrite with her stance against abortion. Only stupid people who don’t deserve to live are conservative or Christian. And where in the heck is ALASKA? Is that even a real state? Bet there’s no black people there… And then, last night, the metaphorical “other shoe” dropped loudly. Into a huge cow patty. Obama’s foot was in that shoe that plopped squarely into that cow patty.
We had the oh-so-suave, caring, and well-spoken President Obama make an unthinkable crack about the Special Olympics—on television, before millions of viewers on the Tonight Show. Yeah, real elegant and suave and caring.
When, pray tell, does this man do any “real president” work? He’s on TV and interviewed by all sorts of the media so often, he outranks Britney Spears and the cast of Gossip Girl in overexposure. And don’t forget those frequent White House bashes, with hand-massaged wagyu steak from Japan and conga dancing lines that go until real late. Especially on Wednesdays. Obama shouldn’t make any crucial decisions or make any important statements on Thursdays.
Hmm… Obama’s ill-fated appearance on the Tonight Show was yesterday, a Thursday. Coincidence or too much Wednesday-night partying catching up with him? I’ll let you decide.

Alaska's Special Olympics - Torch, 2007

A few weeks ago, Gov. Palin discussed the special love and dreams her family have for baby Trig. How the Special Olympics has given her family hope and excitement about how he will thrive and prosper and make a place for himself in the world. How he has given back so much to their family. The Special Olympics Motto is “Let me win, but if I can not win, let me be brave in the attempt.” The love in Gov. Palin’s voice, the unrehearsed, genuine appreciation she has for life and those who have special needs, was apparent. No speech writer, no teleprompter. A real woman with real emotions who could share them with a reporter without deceit or pandering or cautious “political correctness.” She’s also a successful governor whose approval ratings are through the roof in her state. Here’s a posting about Palin and the 2009 Special Olympics: Blue Star Chronicles: Sarah Palin Special Olympics Message 2009. It’s also on Mommy Life and other blogs.
Sarah Palin was savaged by the press EVERY SINGLE DAY prior to the election just for being herself. Fabrications and lies and insults swirled about her like locusts during the presidential campaign.
But, she retained grace and humor and unflagging energy during the ordeal (and I’m sure it was beyond difficult as the unbridled attacks increased as Election Day drew closer). The blatant hypocrisy was thick and pervasive, as noted by bestselling author and political columnist Ann Coulter in her September 3, 2008 commentary about Palin, “The Best Man Turned Out to Be a Woman”; here are a few snippets:
They claimed Palin was chosen only because she’s a woman. In fact, Palin was chosen because she’s pro-life, pro-gun, pro-drilling and pro-tax cuts. She’s fought both Republicans and Democrats on public corruption and does not have hair plugs like some other vice presidential candidate I could mention. In other words, she’s a ‘Republican.’
…They attacked her daughter, who actually is pregnant now, for being unmarried. When liberals start acting like they’re opposed to pre-marital sex and mothers having careers, you know McCain’s vice presidential choice has knocked them back on their heels. While the difficult circumstances of Palin’s pregnant daughter are being covered like a terrorist attack on the nation, with leering accounts of the 18-year-old father, the media remain resolutely uninterested in the parentage of [married Democrat leader John] Edwards’ mistress’s love child. Except, that is, the hardworking reporters at the National Enquirer, who say Edwards is the father. But at least liberal reporters had finally found someone their own size to pick on: a 17-year-old girl.
The media hysterically denounced Palin as “inexperienced.” But then people started to notice that she has more executive experience than B. Hussein Obama—the guy at the top of the Democrats’ ticket.
To those who still worship the ground Barack Obama walks on, please remember this isn’t American Idol. Although, Obama does seem to forget that he is our Commander in Chief and no longer needs to go on tour. Whenever his approval ratings drop, he shows up on a magazine cover or hops on the fuel-guzzling Air Force One to make another “remember how cool I am?” pitch for his socialist policies at another townhall meeting or TV show appearance. Maybe next week, if his numbers drop because of his Special Olympics crack, he’ll be a surprise guest on Dancing with the Stars. I’m tired of being told we “have to give him a chance.” You betcha, that seems fair and right… I’ll give him just as many chances Sarah Palin was given by the media and liberals and some Republicans.
Palin, on the other hand, is doing what she does best. She’s not a media hound like Obama, who skitters away to California or Colorado or Arizona or Canada or Illinois to appear on some show each time the country doesn’t fawn over him. She’s running her family and the state of Alaska with a frugal eye, a Christian heart, a conservative’s prudence, and a mother’s fierce love. She’s active in the Alaskan community and with local events and charity events. She serves Alaskans every day, with or without adoring photographers handy.
Alaska is one of the only states in America that isn’t in financial turmoil, on the brink of economic collapse. Alaska has been governed with the state’s best interests at heart, which included not going on a spending binge when times were good. Palin made sure that a huge chunk of the state’s money was saved, in the event that times would not always be so good. Palin knows how to be thrifty and cut back on spending. She even pruned the budget for her beloved Special Olympics—tightening the belt everywhere paid off for Alaska. Wish Congress would stop trying to destroy her and instead take notes from Palin. Right now, they’re royally flunking Economics 101, with Treasury Secretary Tim “Lying Boy Wonder” Geithner leading the pack of ineptitude with the AIG bonuses. They have the conspicuous consumption mentality of a spoiled high school prom queen when it comes to spending money they don’t have and isn’t even theirs.
So, where in the heck is the mocking and vilification of Obama’s insensitive, stupid remark on the Tonight Show? Or the one he made earlier in the day, that AIG was just like a suicidal terrorist with a live grenade in hand? Oh, trust that the outrage and criticism and lack of confidence in his leadership abilities are out there. They’re just not being reported by the American mainstream media. They’re too busy trying, even now, to squash Sarah Palin. Why?
Because the presidential election of 2012 isn’t that far away, and they fear that America will see past their empty savaging, get sick of the ongoing corruption in Washington with this administration, and will resonate with Palin’s fiscal responsibility and success, her honesty, and conservative family values—she must be targeted, ridiculed, and marginalized pronto. With the lies pouring out of Washington this week about the AIG bonuses (it’s now a bona fide “Bonus-Gate”), Palin is a bigger threat to them than she ever was before. Because, once again, she isn’t one of them. Which was one of the main reasons that they were compelled to crush and destroy her in the first place. But now, “not being one of them” is the next best thing to having a picnic in the park with no ants and perfect weather.
The British press reports Pres. Obama’s gaffes and blunders far more timely and accurately than our own media (assuming that our media even reports them). Very telling, and chilling.
Palin didn’t go to an Ivy League school? Yep, that’s right, and we’re so grateful she didn’t, since we’re seeing daily the dismal results of those who did. Liars, cheats, and wastrels. Does any one politician with an Ivy League education tell the truth? Or not make fun of the disabled? Or not spend money like a 5-year-old in a candy store?
Who’s vulgar and uncouth now? And which image, created in the pre-election months, is proving to be false?

Sara is one of a very few "Good Ones". I hope there is still a USA around in a few years so we can vote for her.

I doubt most people have anything against Sarah....they just don't see what's so special, either.

Jim Bramlett was raving that "God has anointed Sarah Palin" and another guy was crying that "She's an Esther!" during the election. Uh, no.

Nothing wrong with her - and targeting her daughter and her son were the most despicable moments of the campaign on either side - but nothing really makes her stand out, either.

Palin's prayer remark angers former staffers
Posted: 08:10 AM ET

Palin's speech last week has some former aides grumbling.
WASHINGTON (CNN) – Some of Sarah Palin's former campaign aides are frustrated with the Alaska governor for remarking in a lengthy, freewheeling speech that she had refused to pray with them before last October's vice presidential debate.

Palin told the story in a speech to a GOP dinner in Alaska last Friday.

"So I'm looking around for somebody to pray with, I just need maybe a little help, maybe a little extra," she said of the moments before the debate. "And the McCain campaign, love 'em, you know, they're a lot of people around me, but nobody I could find that I wanted to hold hands with and pray."

As the audience laughed, Palin noted that she meant no disrespect to the McCain campaign and that ended up saying a prayer with her daughter Piper.

A handful of the McCain campaign staffers who traveled with the former vice presidential nominee nearly every day for two months caught wind of Palin's remarks on Thursday morning — and they aren't thrilled with her quip.

"We all talked this A.M.," said one former Palin aide in an e-mail. "This set off a nerve for sure with a lot of people."

"It's yet another example of the few staff still loyal to Palin questioning their loyalty and ardent defense of her over the several months since the campaign," said the aide, who was granted anonymity to speak candidly about campaign colleagues.

Since election day, Palin has publicly griped about the way she was handled by the McCain team and pushed back against some of the campaign advisers who attacked her anonymously in the press.

But another former staffer said that in doing so, Palin is failing to distinguish between the strategists at McCain headquarters and the people who were at her side every day from late August through election day.

Oh come on, fruitloop! Ofcourse the Commie News Network would post blogs like that. Ever wonder exactly WHY they are in the basement in rankings???? As to your post about not seeing anything special in Palin...well, I'm gonna turn that around on ya. I didn't see anything special before the election about 'bama because as MY senator he did nothing, nada, zip, zilch...ZERO. All I see now is an incompetent that has been thrown into water WAAAAAY over his head and he can't swim. He can't even tread. He just keeps grabbing at any life line that anyone throws him and he's still sinking.

Palin was and still is being savaged by the leftist media and Hollyweird types. For cryin' out loud, the break-up of her daughter and the boy that is the father of her baby made the news. Gore and Kerry both had an opportunity to disappear after they lost and they ran for PRESIDENT not vice-president. Can't savage 'bama because his past has been sealed up and isn't available for public viewing. I really thought that someone as smart as you would be able to see this. I guess I was wrong.

Ah, yes.....the old "leftist commie media conspiracy" theory.....

You missed the part where this is her OWN STAFF.

She needs to get it together, and surround herself with long-term, loyal people if she wants to seek an office higher than Governor of Alaska. At this point she's alienated many GOP leaders and her own folks at home.

Not a smart move.

I'll say this much for George Bush.....he was good at delegating, and could select people who were dedicated to his cause. He was, unfortunately, better at gaining his staff's loyalty than that of the citizenry.

It takes a lot to get someone elected. They need a support system, and she's alienating hers. Granted, this may be due to some ego left over from the election, and that's understandable....except that she lost the election. She needs to sit back, regroup, and think of her next strategy. She will need quality people in order to do that. Alienating longtime, loyal staff is not the way to do that.

Well, I guess I did miss the part about it being "her staff" because they weren't her staff. They were ANONYMOUS McCain champaign aides! That should give you some clue right there about the integrity of said source...didn't even have to guts to come attach their name so anyone with half a brain could check 'em out. Gutless wonders! Just why do they want to remain anonymous????? Sounds like someone that didn't want to take the responsibility of screwing up, so they gotta go blame someone else. Just kindergarten tactics that should have been left in kindergarten.

But you are right it does take a lot to get elected these days. It takes a lot of money (from questionable sources) and a lot of corrupt people to do your dirty work so you can keep your hands clean. Just sayin'

And what in heaven's name is wrong with having people close to you that are loyal to you??? I'm not getting that one. In a tight spot, I would much rather have my loyal friends around me than some so called "expert" geek.

And you are partially right. McCain did lose the election for her. So why in heaven's name is she and her family still being attacked??? Humm???? Got an answer to that one??? Looks like a "warning" from a corrupt Chicago mob trying to teach her a lesson. Now, who do we know from Chicago? I wonder.....

The article says clearly that these were people who were loyal, and are now feeling dissed.

Of course there is nothing wrong with having loyal people around you. That's my point. The problem is that she is alienating her own supporters. Not a good thing to do.
