For the first time since Afghan refugees arrived at Fort McCoy in Wisconsin, we got a deeper look inside the base.
Nearly 13,000 refugees call the base home, and that number continues to rise: so far eight children have been born there.
We also learned large numbers of guests are pregnant women and almost half the population is made up of children.
Guests have a community center, laundry facilities, access to WiFi and four dining areas, among other things.

I am reminded of a very wise saying:
There are only a few institutions that can certify something as being halal and they all have ties to militant Islam. The largest group that offers halal certification is the ISNA ( Islamic Society of North America ) and it is their seal you will see most often:
The ISNA is a Muslim Brotherhood organization and I have delineated the ties between the two many, many times here but if you still don't know the connections PM me and I will send you a copy of the book I wrote explaining the ties in greater detail.
Now, halal certifications are not free, they come at a great cost. For example, ISNA charges an initial certification fee (depending on the size of the business) of up to $2000.00. After that there are periodic inspections by ISNA which run around $15.00 an hour and a monthly fee of up to $150.00 ( each month ).
Fine and dandy, right?
So far, just capitalism at work... The halal market is estimated at two trillion dollars a year so why shouldn't the ISNA get a piece of the pie? After all, Kosher certifications work much the same way, don't they?
Here is the catch and the difference...
Remember ISNA is a Muslim Brotherhood organization and as such they will follow sharia law to the letter. In Islam there is a thing called the five pillars, they are kind of like Islam's ten commandments, and all practicing Muslims MUST follow the five pillars. The five pillars are:
- Shahadah: Sincerely reciting the Muslim profession of faith. In order to become a muslim you must recite that, "I confess that there is no God but Allah and Muhammad is his messenger."
- Salat: Performing the ritual prayers in the proper way five times each day
- Zakat: Paying an alms (or charity) tax on income
- Sawm: Fasting during the month of Ramadan
- Hajj: All muslims, one time in their life, must make a pilgrimage to Mecca ( if they are able )
Now, the pillar we want to focus on is the "zakat".
I own a hard copy of the book of Islamic jurisprudence known as "The Reliance of the Traveller". The English translation I have has been certified by the top Sunni University in the world ( al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt ) and the laws written in it are set in stone. Now, according to Islamic law ( sharia ) and in accordance with The Reliance of the Traveller, the money collected through zakat ( that ALL practicing Muslims are obligated to pay ) is to be distributed to eight specific groups. (As a side note, it is telling that ONLY MUSLIMS are eligible to receive zakat which is why Muslim countries give only token amounts (if at all) to non-Muslim countries who suffer great national disasters. And, all the bragging the you hear about how much charity Muslims give... yeah... It only goes to other Muslims). Anyway, the eight groups are:
1. Fuqaraa: Those who own property in excess of basic necessities but below the value of Nisab.
2. Masakeen: Persons of extreme poverty who possess no wealth whatsoever.
3. Aamileen: (Zakat collector) Those persons who are appointed by an Islamic Head of State or Government to collect Zakat. It is not necessary that this be a needy person.
4. Muallafatul Quloob: Those poor and needy persons who are given Zakat with the intentions of solidifying their hearts because they maybe recently converted to Islam or to bring them closer to Islam.
5. Ar-Riqaab: Slaves whose masters have agreed to set them free on a payment of a fixed amount. Zakat may be used to purchase their freedom.
6. Ibnus-Sabeel: A traveler, who, whilst wealthy at his residence, is stranded and in need of financial assistance.
7. Al Ghaarimeen: A person whose debts exceeds his assets and his net assets (after deducting his liabilities) is below the Nisab limit. To determine whether a person qualifies, his basic necessities of life (house, furniture, clothes, vehicle, etc.) will not be taken into account. It is conditional that the debts were not created for any un-Islamic or sinful purpose.
8. Fi Sabeelillah: Those who are away from home in the path of Allah. Those in Jihad, those seeking knowledge or a stranded Haji may be assist with Zakat if they are in need.

Every time you buy something halal certified, 1/8th of all the money that is collected every month and every year by the certification companies goes to fund jihad.
