The Des Moines Register makes it's endorsement

I don't care what a newspaper has to say or who they endorse, but sure seems that Obozo has really lost his appeal since this paper hasn't endorsed a Republicrat in 40 years.

And the LA Times, of all papers, is actually reporting it. :shr:

The Des Moines Register endorsed Mitt Romney on Saturday night, breaking a decades-long streak of backing Democrats for president in a state that launched President Obama's 2008 election.

.........

It’s unclear how much newspaper endorsements matter to voters, given that many gravitate toward media outlets that align with their political views. But the endorsement is notable because of the Register’s long history of supporting Democrats – the last Republican they endorsed was President Nixon in 1972.

Yesterday on a short trip spanning Monroe Wi to a point a few miles west of Janesville Wi we saw a LOT of Romney signs. Not one Obama sign. Some demons for state office, not one o sign.

Ya know to come to think of it, I have not seen the first Obama or Romney sign this go around, in my AO.

Interesting how many newspapers that typically support the D's are endorsing R this time.

The note about signs is something I've noticed around here. I've been many places in my county, haven't covered the whole county, but much of it and have not seen a single O sign. Lots of R ones. In fact, I didn't see any R ones until after the first debate. Then after each debate more and more would spring up - on the day after. Kind of funny. I do, however, see O bumper stickers in Columbus.

This in a state that Obama claims his ownership in with the auto bailouts. People may finally be seeing through his hogwash.

Wonder how he stands in the rest of the country?

Forums just as this one could be changing the media to some degree. At least some of them come here or other similar places to see what the latest hype is. When they constantly see themselves in unfavorable positions they may just wake up themselves.

Those O bumper stickers have been on cars around here since 08'. I don't see any new looking stickers lately and have been looking for them.

Maybe, considering this paper has endorsed Carter, Mondale and Dukakis, guess you could say the bozo appeal is lower than Dukakis.

here in colorado, especially around the major cities (except Colorado Springs), I'm seeing more new obama stickers than old.

Can't understand how these people think they're better off now than 4 years ago.

I'd point to the fact that the DSM Register almost always favors Democrats. I believe the last ten endorsements have gone to Dems.

This could be a very big deal.

I've actually seen some 2012 Obama signs and stickers around the Flathead Valley in MT, believe it or not. We've had an influx of liberals over the last couple of years, mostly of the sort who are so breathlessly earnest about random New Age spiritualities and the need for enlightenment.

Has the DSM Register come under new ownership of late? This is the same paper that did an op-ed on how people coming from chicago were ruining Iowa! The old DSM Register would never have even peeped about minorities running amok in the country side!

Same in central Florida. The Orlando Sentinel, a very liberal newspaper that covers all of central Florida and last election endorsed Obama, came out and endorsed Romney last week. All the libs were shocked

All I'm seeing in most yards around Orlando and vicinity are Romney/Ryan signs. Hell, I have 2 in my yard and 4 others on voting NO on any state ammendments that increase taxes, and one on voting NO on retaining any of the state supreme court judges.
