Sure Enough, Protesters Have Shown Up Outside Homes of Supreme Court Justices, As Justice Alito Moved to Undisclosed Location

Update:
Breitbart's Ken Klukowski reported on Saturday that Justice Samuel Alito, who wrote the leaked draft opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson, has been moved to an undisclosed location with his family over safety concerns.
Jack Davis also covered the news for Western Journalism, including a tweet from Thursday of The Vince Coglianese Show, during which Ilya Shapiro, a guest on the show, told Coglianese he heard a rumor that Alito had been moved.
Justice Alito had, earlier in the week, as it was also reported on Thursday, canceled his appearance at the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals' judicial conference for that day.

Original:
On Saturday, footage was released of pro-abortion activists protesting outside the homes of U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Brett Kavanaugh. Such protests fulfill a promise from earlier in the week, after the draft opinion from Justice Samuel Alito overturning Roe v. Wade was leaked.
Douglas Blair of The Daily Signal tweeted throughout the day tweeted photos and video clips of such protesters, noting shortly before 8:30pm that many protesters ultimately left after the police showed up. At one point though, he had tweeted that protesters were arguing with police, who said arrests might start happening.

At 8:20pm, Blair had also tweeted footage of protesters at Justice Kavanaugh's house, noting an "energy" that was "negative" and "anger."
Indeed, some of the photos Blair had tweeted included protesters carrying particularly vulgar signs.
Mary Margaret Olohan, with The Daily Wire, also tweeted footage, noting about 50-100 protesters were there.
Such protests are almost certainly only a taste of what is to come. Spencer and Julio had reported earlier in the week that pro-abortion activists were being paid to show up at the homes of justices.
Shut Down DC has posted plans on social media for May 9 when it comes to showing up to the home of Justice Samuel Alito, who wrote the leaked draft opinion.

A group known as Ruth Sent Us, has called for protesting Catholic Churches, including this upcoming Sunday, Mother's Day. Leah reported such news on Friday, and the group has only more forcefully doubled down on their plans to disrupt Masses on Mother's Day.
The group also condoned vulgar pro-abortion protesters blocking churches in New York City.
Across the country, pro-abortion radicals have also already vandalized Catholic Churches and pregnancy resource centers with pro-abortion messages.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki on Thursday told EWTN's Owen Jensen that "we don’t condone vandalism" and encouraged "peaceful protest," but did not emphasize strongly enough for the vandals to stand down. She then quickly dismissed him soon after, interrupting him from finishing his question as she moved on to another reporter.
Pro-life members of Congress and organizations are calling on the Biden administration to protect churches from such vandals. As Fox News' Timothy H.J. Nerozzi reported, Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) and Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) sent a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland on Saturday calling on him to protect churches.
On Friday, Brian Burch, the president of CatholicVote, similarly called on Garland to make it clear that for protesters to disrupt church services would be a violation of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act.
Psaki similarly refused to condemn protests showing up at the homes of the justices; at best she provided lip service by calling for "peaceful protests." During that same press conference on Thursday, in an exchange with Fox News' Peter Doocy, she instead insisted on focusing on the "passion" of the pro-abortion protesters.

"Look, I think the president's view is that there's a lot of passion, a lot of fear, a lot of, uh, sadness from many, many people across this country about what they saw in that leaked document," she said, also telling Doocy that "I think we shouldn't lose the point here." With a passionate tone, Psaki added that "the reason people are protesting is because women across the country are worried about their fundamental rights that have been law for 50 years, their rights to make choices about their own bodies and their own healthcare are at risk. That's why people are protesting! They're unhappy! They're scared!"
Psaki told Doocy that "I don't have an official U.S. government position on where people protest," but, as others have pointed out, including her predecessor, Kayleigh McEnany, the law does.
While the Biden administration does not look likely to protect the homes of justices from such radicals, Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin, a Republican, at least aims to do so. Macaulay Porter, Youngkin's press secretary, told Breitbart that Youngkin is aware and Virginia State police will "monitor the situation."

Democratic allies in the mainstream media have also had ridiculous takes. Riot fencing, as Julio also reported, has gone up around the Supreme Court following the leak. A CNN segment actually framed concerns of violence, though, as coming from the "far right."
In a Fright night column for Townhall, Brad Slager addressed such ridiculousness.
Fox News' Tucker Carlson spent a considerable amount of time in his opening mocking such a narrative that the violence, and not just towards Supreme Court justices, but to do with riots and looting in the streets from 2020, would come from the right.
Shut Down DC, in a tweet included above, tweeted out absolutely adoring coverage of a protester who aims to disrupt the private family lives of Supreme Court justices.

On Saturday morning, The Washington Post published Ellie Silverman's "Outside Kavanaugh’s home, a neighbor rallies for abortion rights."
It wasn't merely Shut Down DC that picked up on such ridiculously glowing coverage, but our friends at Twitchy as well.
As of Saturday night, it does not appear that anyone from the White House has further addressed or called out the protesters and acts of vandalism.

This is an attempt to intimidate a Supreme Court Justice(s). Isn't there a law against this? Why aren't every last one of those protestors being locked up???

Tucker Carlson read the US Code section a couple nights ago but I do not remember the USC number. It clearly stated that interfering with judges, demonstrations, and attempts to coerce the court are all against the law.

We can also see how many demonstrators around the SC and at the homes of the Justices have been arrested by the Department of Just Us.

I didn't see anyone getting arrested. The message is clear; they're vulnerable.

It appears the law they "interpretate" and are charged with up holding doesn't protect the highest court in the country. It may provide them with a different perspective? It'll be interesting to see if and how this experience will color future rulings made by the justices?

Pro-Life Group Attacked In Wisconsin: ‘If Abortions Aren’t Safe Then You Aren’t Either’
By Ryan Saavedra

May 8, 2022 DailyWire.com

The headquarters of a pro-life organization in Wisconsin was set on fire on Sunday morning in what appears to be a politically-motivated attack.

The attack on Wisconsin Family Action, located in Madison, came a week after an early draft of a United States Supreme Court majority opinion leaked last week that indicated the controversial Roe v. Wade decision would likely be struck down.

No one from the organization was in the building at the time of the attack, which included a Molotov cocktail that was thrown through a window and failed to ignite. Whoever was behind the attack set another fire nearby that burned part of a wall.

Local media reported that graffiti was left outside the building that stated, “If abortions aren’t safe then you aren’t either.”

Madison Police Department said, “We have made our federal partners aware of this incident and are working with them and the Madison Fire Department as we investigate this arson.”

Julaine Appling, president of the organization, said that the attack was “a direct threat against us.”

“Imagine if somebody had been in the office when this happened,” she said. “They would have been hurt.”

Wisconsin’s Democrat governor, Tony Evers, condemned the attack in a statement where he urged people to engage in politics without resorting to violence.

“We condemn violence and hatred in all forms, including the actions at Wisconsin Family Action in Madison last night,” Evers said. “We reject violence against any person for disagreeing with another’s view. Violence is not the way forward. Hurting others is never the answer.”

“We will work against overturning Roe and attacks on reproductive rights by leading with empathy and compassion,” he added. “We will defend what we believe in with our words and our voices—in the streets, in halls of government, and at the ballot box. In Wisconsin, we must lead by example.”

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) responded to the attack by writing on Twitter: “This attack is abhorrent and should be condemned by all.”

“Terrifying to see the left attack @WiFamilyAction on Mother’s Day,” Republican gubernatorial candidate and former Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch said. “The radicals are trying to stop us but they know we won’t be intimidated from defending life.”

“Disgusting behavior from the left,” Republican gubernatorial candidate Kevin Nicholson said. “@JoeBiden has already refused to condemn it and both @GovEvers and @JoshKaulWI have shown they want to enforce mob rule and further degrade law & order in Wisconsin. This has to stop. @GovEvers cannot be silent.”

Yes there is. Merrick Garland / FBI cannot be bothered with that, they are too busy going after parents questioning school boards, or maybe some citizen that happened to be in / near DC on Jan 6.

If that were conservatives doing that to liberal Judges, they would have already been rounded up, and shot on the spot.

Should be beating the piss out of them on the ground, then arresting them and sending them to a lock up for a while.

But no…. That’s only for the Traditionalists.

In the end, we’ll get to the “let God sort them out” stage.

Yet they don’t know who leaked it? Isn’t it amazing how nothing ever gets investigated about the left looney liberals, even Trump had a shot at them and blew it. They snowballed him after that.

Just remember … this is suppose to happen. It’s all part of their game plans. They want a specific reaction. And it will play out all year. At some point it will all be a blur as many things together will spiral out of control.

We’re being setup, played, manipulated, and brainwashed. Keep your head screwed on straight ... Just saying. This is going to be a epic year.

At this point in the game with doxxing/canceling it would make sense for the opposition to learn from their tactics.

We did that in the 80's, picketed the local abortionist at his house. He didn't like it. Unfortunately, he lived on a private street (of course) so after a few times of picketing there the cops told us we had to do it at the end of the street, which was a busy street. So that was good too.

WASHINGTON — Activists supporting abortion rights demonstrated outside the homes of conservative Supreme Court justices over the weekend to protest the possible reversal of the landmark 1973 Roe v. Wade decision.
Abortion rights proponents are planning additional protests outside justices' homes this week in the wake of last Monday's leaked opinion that suggested a majority of the court would overturn Roe v. Wade.

Senate expected to vote abortion rights law as protesters demonstrate outside justices' homes
May 9, 202202:06

On Saturday, people gathered in the rain outside the home of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh in Chevy Chase, Maryland, according to organizing group Shutdown DC. It said on Twitter that about 100 protesters showed up outside his home and that of Chief Justice John Roberts.

Shutdown DC is advertising another demonstration planned for Monday night outside Justice Samuel Alito's house, the author of the leaked draft opinion. The group said on its website that it will hold a candlelight vigil "for all these rights that Alito is threatening to take away," where speakers will share testimony.

"Justice Alito’s draft opinion that would overturn Roe v. Wade is beyond alarming," the group said on its website. "It would not only allow states to outlaw abortion (which is already de facto unavailable to many who need it, particularly people from marginalized communities) but could also be used to allow states to outlaw contraception, same-sex marriage, protections for LGBTQ folks, and even interracial marriage."

Another group, Ruth Sent Us, is promoting a "walk-by" on Wednesday at conservative justices' homes in Virginia and Maryland.

Meanwhile, high fencing was installed outside the Supreme Court last week after several nights of protests over the leaked opinion. The barriers are similar to the panels of fencing constructed around the U.S. Capitol after the Jan. 6 riot.

The Roe Demonstrators: Where Did They Get That Idea?

By Clarice Feldman

Much has been written this week about the pro-abortionists’ plans to picket the homes of the six Republican-appointed justices over the egregiously leaked Alito draft overturning Roe v. Wade. Those criticisms, which I summarize below, are certainly valid. If we had an attorney general who cared about enforcing the law, he’d seek injunctive relief and criminal penalties for such conduct. If AG Merrick Garland fails to do so, the attorney general of Virginia, Jason S. Miyares, may step in to preclude any such protests in his state. But I think the rowdies got their ideas from Chief Justice Roberts’s strange role in the ObamaCare case mandate challenge and in the Left's success in rampaging and terrorizing the country after the death in custody of George Floyd.

When I want a good legal analysis, one of the first places I turn to is the Volokh Conspiracy, and in particular, the lucid and persuasive analyses by Professor Eugene Volokh. This week he explains why picketing the judges’ residence with the intent to influence them violates federal law. (And the intent is to influence, obviously because this is just a draft, not a final, opinion.)
The relevant statute is 18 U.S.C. Sec.1507 which reads:
1. Whoever, with the intent of interfering with, obstructing, or impeding the administration of justice, or

2. with the intent of influencing any judge, juror, witness, or court officer, in the discharge of his duty,

3. pickets or parades in or near a building housing a court of the United States, or
4. in or near a building or residence occupied or used by such judge, juror, witness, or court officer, or

5. with such intent uses any sound-truck or similar device or resorts to any other demonstration in or near any such building or residence,
6. shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both.
Previous courts recognizing that the State “has a legitimate interest in protecting its judicial system from such bullying tactics and maintaining a fair and orderly administration of justice have ruled that such outside influence may be banned without interfering with constitutional rights of free speech and assembly."

Interestingly, this section was amended by the crime bill of 1994, which removed the $5,000 limit on fines for violating this section, a law which James Freeman notes was passed with the support of Senator Joe Biden and co-sponsored by then-representative Charles Schumer.
These days, the supremely oleaginous Schumer said that Supreme Court justices “won’t know what hit them” if they supported anything like the Alito draft overturning Roe. (He later said he regretted that clearly threatening remark but never apologized for it.)

Indeed, it seems that Schumer is not alone in thinking that if you don’t like the way a ruling is going you can bully judges into changing their minds.
Democrat representative Karen Bass on ABC stunned T.J. Holmes of that network with remarks like this:
I’m glad it was leaked, because now maybe, just maybe, the justices will rethink this as they see the outrage spread across the country. We know that -- or at least we are hearing, that some vote took place, but we also know in the process before a final decision is made there could be other drafts. We have to see that the Chief Justice is going to do. So, maybe, it provides a little bit of hope that this will not ultimately be the decision of the Supreme Court.
If that is not an admission of an attempt to influence the Supreme Court justices in the “discharge of their duty,” what is?
The Chief Executive -- Joe Biden -- has said nothing to dissuade such conduct and his spokesperson Jen Psaki mumbled some mush about peaceful protesting when asked directly about the president’s position.
237312_5_.jpg
The threats are so serious that Justice Alito was this week forced to skip a scheduled public appearance.
Given the attorney general’s history of partisanship, absent an indication from the White House that they want him to act, he won’t. Laws don’t enforce themselves and subservient government officials don’t usually grow spines.
On the other hand, three of the targeted justices live in the Virginia suburbs and Virginia has both a relevant law banning such intimidation of the judiciary and an attorney general less pusillanimous than Garland.
Virginia Code Section 18.2-418 states:
It is hereby declared that the protection and preservation of the home is the keystone of democratic government; that the public health and welfare and the good order of the community require that members of the community enjoy in their homes a feeling of well-being, tranquility, and privacy, and when absent from their homes carry with them the sense of security inherent in the assurance that they may return to the enjoyment of their homes…
….that the practice of picketing before or about residences and dwelling places causes emotional disturbance and distress to the occupants; that such practice has as its object the harassing of such occupants; and without resort to such practice, full opportunity exists, and under the terms and provisions of this article will continue to exist, for the exercise of freedom of speech and other constitutional rights
Police can arrest protesters at Supreme Court Justices’ homes in Virginia. Virginia Code 18.2-419:
Any person who shall engage in picketing before or about the residence or dwelling place of any individual, or who shall assemble with another person or persons in a manner which disrupts or threatens to disrupt any individual’s right to tranquility in his home, shall be guilty of a Class 3 misdemeanor. Each day on which a violation of this section occurs shall constitute a separate offense.
Last, Virginia courts are given the power to stop all protests at a Virginian’s home. Better yet, courts have the power to award punitive damages against any protester who violates this Virginia law. Again, Section 419:
Notwithstanding the penalties herein provided, any court of general equity jurisdiction may enjoin conduct, or threatened conduct, proscribed by this article, and may in any such proceeding award damages, including punitive damages, against the persons found guilty of actions made unlawful by this section.
The left is blowing through the firewalls of decency. They have promised protests at Catholic churches this weekend. They have vandalized other churches. They have behaved like other monsters throughout history who despise democratic institutions. There is no doubt more unhinged behavior to come. At least in the Commonwealth of Virginia, consequences can follow.
Indeed, Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin just ordered the state police to monitor protests at the homes of Supreme Court justices.
Justice Clarence Thomas said that the Court will not be bullied. Chief Justice Roberts angrily deplored the attempt to do so.
Unfortunately, the idea that such tactics work can, in my view, be laid at the feet of Justice Roberts himself. In the face of ginned-up public support in the major media for Obama and ObamaCare, he clearly changed his mind on the constitutionality of the mandate in ObamaCare, calling it a tax -- something that “every lower court that heard the health-care cases rejected.” Something that the Congress rejected -- having explicitly called it a “regulatory penalty.”
It was widely believed at the time that Roberts did this legal macarena because he was cowed by the fear of the crowd. And as the Wall Street Journal observed at the time, there is evidence of his shake and shimmy in the opinion itself:
One telling note is that the dissent refers repeatedly to "Justice Ginsburg's dissent" and "the dissent" on the mandate, but of course they should be referring to Ruth Bader Ginsburg's concurrence. This wording and other sources suggest that there was originally a 5-4 majority striking down at least part of ObamaCare, but then the Chief Justice changed his mind.
The Justices may never confirm this informed speculation. But if it is true, this is far more damaging to the Court's institutional integrity that the Chief Justice is known to revere than any ruling against ObamaCare. The political class and legal left conducted an extraordinary campaign to define such a decision as partisan and illegitimate. If the Chief Justice capitulated to this pressure, it shows the Court can be intimidated and swayed from its constitutional duties. If this was a play to compete with John Marshall's legacy, the result is closer to William Brennan's.
Every kid on the playgrounds I grew up on knew that if you showed fear before bullies, they’d be stealing your lunch money next. Roberts' inexplicable kowtow on ObamaCare in my view only encouraged more of these bullying tactics today.

If you want to be effective cut out the money funding this and those doling it out and giving them instructions. Without them these people become ineffective quickly.
Of course you're right. Still, it would be satisfying to see a few laying in the streets.
