So. Duck meat etc. from Asia. Banned yet over bird flu? Do you check origin labels?

I haven't heard much discussion of meat exports from China and other nations affected w/bird flu.

Given that there has been some viable bird flu found in duck meat (see link), I'm just curious about whether anyone sees fowl meat and its origins to be of concern. And if so, do you check where a can/package of something originates?

Found a few ban notes, though not sure whether these are all 'live birds only' or bird products:

My dog just finished off a large bag of doggy chicken jerky strips---made in China. My resident teenagers mentioned THEY had almost eaten some, as the packaging and product looks like what they buy; of course they tend to eat and then read while chomping-- if they read the packaging at all!!! The chicken jerky was purchased at Costco.

Until I know better I will not be buying more.

99 % of stuff for the dogs comes from china. i stopped buying it a year ago because of that. also, just raise an extra turkey or a few extra chickens and cook and bag the meat in the right proportions for our two chihuhahas. also make a vitamen complete doggie cake that can be put in the freezer. so, with those two foods, supplemented with small amounts of leftover veggies and fruits from our meals, our two pipsqueaks are happy. and the vet says they are very healthy.

as to our food, i was dismayed years ago to find out how much distance most of our food travels to make it to our homes. not to mention the questionable practices that may be going on in other countries that are growing the stuff.
