Just goes to show, hit them where it counts. And it sure shows how fragile everything is right now under commie leadership. It won’t take much, they’ve already put many people out of business and lost jobs.

And the moron sitting in the Whitehouse after seeing all the hatred in his travels has enough guff to repeat time after time … 80 some million people voted for me. Chump.

I don’t feel sorry for the travelers one bit. They are vaccinated and think the unvaccinated should die…

Screw them…They have pushed the mandates…

They made their bed they can lay in it…
Hognutz, your sort of making a broad statement and it simply is not true. I have 5 family members stranded in Bozeman, Mt. and none of the 5 have had the vaccine. Two of them are teachers and still have refused the vaccine. Not every vaccinated person thinks the unvaxed should die. What a pack of untruths your spreading around.

Ok I retract my statement, but only for the unvaxxed….:p

URGENT: A Southwest Airlines pilot explains why you will not hear anything about vaccine mandates from his union - and why Southwest has more flexibility than it admits to stand up to the White House

URGENT: A Southwest Airlines pilot explains why you will not hear anything about vaccine mandates from his union - and why Southwest has more flexibility than it admits to stand up to the White House
The pilot emailed following the first Southwest post today (and provided his SWA ID to prove his identity). He asked that I paraphrase the email.
Essentially, the union cannot organize or even acknowledge the sickout, because doing so would make it an illegal job action. Years ago, Southwest and its pilots had a rough negotiation, and the union would not even let the pilots internally discuss the possibility of working-to-rule (which would have slowed Southwest to a crawl).
But at the moment the pilots don’t even have to talk to each other about what they’re doing. The anger internally - not just among pilots but other Southwest workers - is enormous. The tough prior negotiations notwithstanding, Southwest has a history of decent labor relations, and workers believe the company should stand up for them against the mandate. Telling pilots in particular to comply or face termination has backfired.

Meanwhile, Southwest has more flexibility than it has acknowledged. Federal contracts represent about 3 percent of its revenue, but even the Biden administration CANNOT alter existing contracts (please note, I have not checked this, though it seems reasonable); Southwest is only at risk of losing future contracts.
This pilot believes that the fact that the airlines received $25 billion in no-strings-attached cash for “payroll support” last year (as well another $25 billion in loans) has made them particularly reluctant to stand up to the Biden administration. Southwest’s CEO, Gary Kelly, may be in an especially tough spot since he is the head of the airline lobbying group.

Finally: This pilot says he loves Southwest and finds the crisis painful but feels that if this is the only way Americans can stand up to these mandates, then let the chips fall.

Hope Always
I wish there was some way to show our support, and gratitude, for what they're doing; it's the most hopeful I've felt about the issue in a while.
Right before I read your post my guy just said (regarding the pilots standing up to the jab/job), “good for them! This should be ‘hug a pilot day’!”

However, I think Meemur’s suggestion of praying for them is probably more doable!

Well, I guess I’ll reserve judgement until there is more confirmation, but it currently appears that Southwest management is lying through their teeth about the real cause of their massive flight cancellations. If that is so, I will lose a lot of respect for that airline (which I considered so far to be among the best of American airlines). I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

Certa Bonum Certamen
I hope it spreads like wildfire, even to the point of shutting down every major industry in this country. Maybe that's what it's going to take to send a message to this tyrannical administration. And if we all have to experience some inconveniences and discomfort for a bit, so be it. All of us here should already be set to shelter in place if need be.
Freedom is worth far more than inconvenience and discomfort.

It is worth everything.

Our Forefathers certainly thought so.

I'm the one with family that was caught up in this. They are making it home 30 hours late and endured a lot of stress. I support what the Southwest employees did. I hope other employees with other companies do as well. In my area many vaccinated people support the right for people to choose yes or no.

You know! There's a thing here that if I had family in harms way such as stranded out of town. I would have a bigger fear of them getting caught up in the cur's that have a habit of a lot of trouble when they go to scampering.

Just seem to me that it would be prudent to incourage them to make best of a bad situation. They should be hero's just as well as those on the rest of the list. Long term here may save the lives of twenty times the numbers that are inconvenienced.

Its occurred to me that we may be playing into the RatBastards' hands with resistance; it gives them the fuel to ultimately label us terrorist (and remember you can kill terrorist without due process-)---as well as to blame us for the shut downs, empty store shelves energy costs and every other thing that goes wrong.

But we have to stand together...and, as much as I value prayer, I do not start or end a day without it, we may need to find a way to do even more to show it's not an industry here or there that is saying NO, but the so far silent moral majority of the land.

Southwest Airlines Cancels Even More Flights as 'Issues' Worsen

By Nick Arama | Oct 10, 2021 11:00 PM ET

(AP Photo/David Zalubowski, File)

As we reported earlier today, Southwest Airlines canceled hundreds of flights yesterday claiming, initially, that it was due to bad weather and that there were air traffic control issues.

But their issues continued, with another 1,000 flights canceled today, as well — almost 28% of their total flights. This was the second straight day of significant issues.

As we noted earlier, the claim of “weather” didn’t match what was happening in the country, and it wasn’t hitting other carriers. So, that wasn’t the real story. Fox’s Leland Vittert indicated that there was a “mass sickout” in protest of vaccine mandates. That many scrapped flights is obviously an internal problem, not weather.

The FAA claimed that the problem wasn’t due to air traffic control issues, that there had been no staffing shortage reported since Friday. “Some airlines continue to experience scheduling challenges due to aircraft and crews being out of place. Please contact the airlines for details about current flight schedules,” they said.

Hardest hit by the cancellations were Denver, Baltimore, Dallas Love Field and Chicago Midway airports, and while they said things would get better on Sunday, they actually got worse.

While the Southwest Pilot’s Association said they weren’t participating in any official or unofficial job action, they decried Southwest’s “poor planning” and “operational challenges,” noting that the COVID vaccine mandate — on top of existing shortages and issues — was a further distraction.

From CNBC:
“Make no mistake about it – due to months of staffing issues and inefficient scheduling practices we have been operating at a higher than normal operational risk,” the union’s safety committee told members in a post on Saturday.
It said reports of fatigue, which require pilots not to fly, are triple historic norms.
“All of these challenges have led to an added distraction in the cockpit,” it said. “This week’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate announcement by the Company only exacerbates the situation.”
On Friday, the labor union asked a federal court in Dallas to temporarily block the implementation of the vaccine mandate and other Covid-19 policies, arguing the company took unilateral decisions that require negotiations with the union.
Southwest may only be the tip of the iceberg. American Airlines may be next up on the list, with the union representing its pilots warning the company could face a staffing shortage if they implement a stringent vaccine mandate. So, things could get very interesting, right as we enter the holiday season.

Thanks, Joe Biden!

Only worry about what you can control!
Remember, the Founding Fathers of this once great nation were also labeled as terrorists. The left is using labels simply to protect their power. If all they are bringing to the coming fight is an ink pen to write labels, they are woefully under armed.

See above.

Southwest Airlines cancelled many of their flights out of Austin, TX citing weather. Funny as there are lots of cancellations with ACL weekend 2 just ending....it does not appear to be affecting any other airlines going out of ABIA.

If we fire you for not taking the jab you deserve to lose everything
Marx would approve this. Don't do the will of your "betters" who decide what is best for you results in a "non-personing" you?

Lose everything. House, money, Maker given right,

How about the rest of the family. Because you don't take the jab doesn't that "contaminate" the rest of the family too?

Sorry. One hopes you overstate your thought in sarcasm.

More Info Surfaces On Southwest Airlines Flight Cancellations and Pilot Push Back Against Vaccine Mandates
October 10, 2021 | Sundance | 284 Comments
People inside Southwest Airlines are speaking out carefully and pointing out why there are so many flight disruptions. Essentially, the background issues are what were discussed earlier. Pilots are pushing back against vaccine mandates; and if you think about the curriculum vitae of a typical pilot, it makes sense.
A big percentage of commercial airline pilots are former military pilots. That group of people carry a strong disposition toward the principles of patriotism, service, liberty and freedom.

It is a simple truism that upsets leftists, but it makes sense for this specifically skilled workforce group to be the tip of the push back spear.

Alex Berenson provides some background details after being contacted by a Southwest pilot:
The pilot emailed following the first Southwest post today (and provided his SWA ID to prove his identity). He asked that I paraphrase the email.

Essentially, the union cannot organize or even acknowledge the sickout, because doing so would make it an illegal job action. Years ago, Southwest and its pilots had a rough negotiation, and the union would not even let the pilots internally discuss the possibility of working-to-rule (which would have slowed Southwest to a crawl).

But at the moment the pilots don’t even have to talk to each other about what they’re doing. The anger internally – not just among pilots but other Southwest workers – is enormous. The tough prior negotiations notwithstanding, Southwest has a history of decent labor relations, and workers believe the company should stand up for them against the mandate. Telling pilots in particular to comply or face termination has backfired. (read more)

This account is being confirmed by multiple people in/around the industry on social media:

As we previously outlined, this is not about vaccines per se’, this is more about a slippery slope of having the government dictate how you can live your life and earn a living.

If they can force you to have a medical procedure, and then carry documentation of that procedure in order to work… why can’t they force you to get a small electronic implant of your identification, which would coincidentally include your medical authorizations for work?

It’s just a metal detector…. it’s just taking off your shoes… it’s just wearing a mask…. it’s just a vaccination….. it’s just a COVID passport… it’s always, “just”.

Factually I do not believe a federal mandate for a vaccine is even possible or legal. It appears to me that all of Biden’s threats in this regard are simply that, threats.

The purpose of the threat is to push people to take the vaccine without actually attempting a legal federal mandate; and that approach so far has been successful. However, now they are going to encounter the more hard-core groups who will not concede liberty or freedom to a federal mandate.

It is obvious Anthony Fauci also knows a federal mandate will lose in court when challenged. The fact that Fauci brings up state vaccination requirements for education, as examples of historically forced vaccinations is both a strawman argument and structurally false. There has never been a FEDERAL mandate for any vaccination. All the vaccinations Fauci discusses (ex. his kids) were state mandates. Each state also has a different set of standards and laws for children and vaccines. There is nothing federal.

The federal government is attempting to set up a federal work authorization standard for private businesses. Non compliance means you cannot work, or you lose your existing job if your employer goes along with the government demand. THAT alone should alarm everyone.
There is a particularly enraging irony in that Joe Biden’s federal DOJ and Dept of Labor do not enforce employment eligibility authorization for illegal aliens based on legal status, while at the same time the Biden Dept. of Labor is putting OSHA in charge of a federal policy that will enforce vaccination requirements. Go figure.

All of the federal exemptions essentially undermine the “national health emergency” argument, because if there really was such a public health emergency, there would be no exemptions at all. The application of the executive order undermines the actual cornerstone of the executive order itself. It cannot withstand scrutiny…. hence, Biden doesn’t actually put any rules or regulations into writing because that gives lawsuits something specific to file injunctions against.

In the interim, as the freedom coalition digs in to mount a patriotic challenge, the authoritarian attempt of the federal government, the rebellious alliance is hitting back in unique ways as noted by the Southwest Airline pilots and Air Traffic Controllers, both groups hold a significant military service record.

Another group who are pushing back against the federal effort are local law enforcement. Again, another private sector group that has a heavy percentage of former military service members amid the ranks.

The blue-collar effort to bolster the resistance by these groups does not have to be too massive to have an impact. Remember, almost all of these leftists and elite-minded communists who now operate as Democrats have no capacity for self-sufficiency. If the working class stops picking up their trash; stops mowing their lawns, shopping for them, doing their cleaning and essentially facilitating their lives, this entire group of people cannot function.

My place of business is a Gov contractor and is implementing "jab or termination" by Thanksgiving. We just found out this morning. Not sure what's going to happen. How does anyone know whether you've gotten it or not? I thought there wasn't supposed to be a "list"?
