First time use of a Ryobi cultivator attachment Amazon.com : Ryobi Expand-It Universal Cultivator Attachment for String Trimmers : Garden & Outdoor . Tool vs hoeing. Effectiveness appears to be much better then hoeing. Time wise the attachment does the job in what I estimate to be 1/4 to 1/3 the time. Work effort I think is a tie with the tool needing more effort then the hoe to use but in a shorter duration. Drudgery factor has the attachment winning hands down (or is that just a man with a power tool thing?). The tool is relatively heavy after a while so might be difficult for less robust people to use. Also don't get to close to your rows of plants as soil is pushed out to the sides. I used mine on a 2 cycle power head though will work will battery power heads also.
