Lukashenko vows tough response by Minsk, Moscow to military build-up on Belarus’ borders
He pointed out that Poland was looking for excuses to move its armed forces closer to Belarusian borders

MINSK, October 28. /TASS/. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has stated that Minsk and Moscow would take a far harder line in light of the military build-up along Belarus' western borders, the BelTA news agency reported.
"The Poles will use Leopard tanks to combat illegal migration on the border with Belarus. Perhaps you are surprised to hear this. I can't imagine how tanks will combat civilians. They are just looking for excuses to move their armed forces closer to our borders, that is, to the borders of the Union State [of Belarus and Russia]," Lukashenko said at a meeting with Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov.
According to the Belarusian president, the authorities see it all clearly. "Naturally, we will provide a very tough response to all that. We will wait for a little longer and issue a warning to them. And then, we also have things to move closer to the border. We have them, to say nothing of Russia. We will act tough here, and shrug off their criticism," Lukashenko stressed.

I've been in Ukr for a year now, but in the last two months am i seeing a significant uptick in unformed soldiers, men and women, sometimes in groups , on the streets .

last week a company sized unit marched through downtown, going i do not know where.

no one seems concerned, however.

i am stocking up for a three month siege, though, if no one else is.

well, on the positive side, i'm learning to sing and perform and play music professionally, and a woman whom i simply adore , said 'maybe' , when i asked her to marry me... finger crossed on that one...

and , being a serious prepper, i have two great BOLs in the sticks (seriously)worked out, just in case.

i will keep everyone up to date as i can.

I things get dicey, hopefully, maybe will turn into yes as it will make it much easier for both of you to leave together if you have to.

Hopefully you won't have to, and I can totally understand making music in a more local venue, often that is a much easier way to start out a seriously professional career.

melodi, i can't imagine where we could go. except for the looming russian threat this beautiful ancient city is literally the best place to be right now, i believe. food is cheap and abundant, i live in a literal fortress (2 ft thick concrete walls, built in the austro hungarian era) with a deep basement, gas is produced from local fields, really good pure water (in my building at least), very conservative, traditional society ( no trannies, in your face fags, antifa, junkies, or, thank God, black people).

not back to madison, that's for sure. and anyway, they have stopped giving out visas for ukr women, even if married to you ... too white or pretty or some other idiot reason.

this summer there was a big parade down the main promenade on 'день прапора' (flag day) that was so touching i nearly cried.

if the global system breaks down, as it seems it probably will very shortly, i realized the other day i may be here for the rest of my life. i speak the language better and better each day, and everyone seems to accept me as somehow belonging. the other day two couples even asked me for directions in the 'високий замок' (high castle) park, in Ukrainian. was i pleased!

i can get legal residency by being the 'father of a Ukrainian citizen', which i want anyway... we have discussed it quite seriously. she's half my age, but i am good for a bit longer , lol.

i've even transmogrified my name into Ukrainian for professional reasons.

Ukraine is the "Bread Basket" of the region if I recall correctly.

Ukraine is one of the largest grain exporters in the world. As much as two-thirds of the country's surface land consists of black earth, a resource that has made Ukraine one of the most fertile regions in the world and well known as a "breadbasket".

And.....that's why Russia wants control of it. No different than the communists....and there is no love between the Ukrainians and the Russians. In fact during the early days of the USSR the Soviets did everything they could to starve the Ukrainians to death and damn near did.

Ukraine has a lot of natural gas that goes to UN/EU/NATO countries via pipeline….if they get control that and don’t route anything except by insisting Nordstream 2 then he can literally chill out most of Western Europe or use them to fund his “defense of Russian nationals”

Didn't I read where the Ukies sent a Turkish armed drone to the Donbass area and took out some Donbass/Russian artillery, even with Russian AA supposedly active?
More Turkish drones on order for Ukraine too as I recall.

Turkish drones wreaked havoc on the Armenians not long ago.

The Ukrainians put the Donbass in check with the new drones and Putin is responding.

And our SecDef all but invited Ukraine to join Nato, which Putin won't allow.

It sounds like Ukraine is a wonderful place, and I hope it stays that way.

Western Europe needs the Ukraine, militarly.
Western Europe troop levels are terribly low.
Equipment readiness is worse.
Ukraine and Poland are pretty key to western Europe mil strategy.
The Ukraine did a pretty good of stopping the Russians. And hitting back in some cases.
Considering they started the war with a hack government that tried to paralyze their military efforts.
Infact, if you want an interesting comparison: pre war Ukraine and current day America.
