This is a new/continuation of the thread from the previous year (2021).

Post up your grocery getting experience as we enter the year during pandemic and political turmoil.
Shortages, runs, deliveries, finds, and what's new or back to normal at the grocery store, let us know what's happening in your AO.

Please include at least a general idea of a location!

Well everyday I check Chewy for Fancy Feast and they are still saying temporarily unavailable. Also the large plastic containers of Florida Natural Orange Juice are suddenly unavailable. Probably due to container shortages? They have the cartons.

Just north of Indianapolis - Meijer's- cream cheese (flavored type - in the small tubs) - almost nothing. Produce - no pre-packaged salad mix. Only needed onions & garlic so I didn't look around too much. Pre-packaged beef/chicken/port available (but don't need so didn't look too closely). Meat & Seafood counter closed. Prices up, noticed holes on shelves. The daughter loves the Ramen Noodle cups - almost nothing there. Very little of the cheap ramen soup packets either. I will probably have to do a bulk order from Amazon so I have some put back for her.

After work this evening,I stopped for lunch meat and a few other items for lunches this week at our local Savealot. Stocks seemed good as always but prices have notably increased. A young lady was looking at the meat section as I was walking by and she looked at me and said “ everything is getting so expensive that I don’t know what to buy anymore!” I felt so bad for her. I’m in Middle TN.

Pride comes before the fall.....Pride month ended.
Chicken thighs or quarters and some pork is still reasonable. The future is clear.
I've mentioned this in three threads but worth repeating. On The Price is Right, a can of peas and carrots was listed at $2.29 as the retail price. I'm like what...... first thought, conditioning the population.... Aldi's=.49cents..or so. Other stores a dollar and change, maybe.

Been to 5 stores working today and the Ramen cup if soup beef flavor is out everywhere. Chicken and shrimp still available. I have been "under the weather" off and on all winter and the Maruchan Beef Cup has been the only thing I've wanted to eat.

and...if you go to order it through Amazon (which you still can)...they are charging almost double what you'd pay in the grocery store.... kind of wish I'd have bought them all...

I have been buying a five pound bag of himilayan pink salt for $9.99 at Amazon Subscribe and Save. It was that price as late as Nov 2021.

A few days ago, the same bag of salt was offered at $14.95, with Subscribe and Save.

Thankfully, I had been buying extra and storing it away.

I passed on the offer this month.

Was that the price for a huge #10 can?

If that was the price for a regular 15 ounce can (as I suspect it was, given the context you are reporting that in), God help us all!

You are lucky you even have chicken and shrimp available. Ramen sells out at the local walmart on a daily basis. People usually buy 3 cases at a time. And for some reason all gatorade flavors and powerade. Can't seem to keep that in stock. This is in the Rio Grande valley in Texas. If you are not sure where that is, it is where a lot of the illegals are coming across.

Amazon has Cameron Organic coffee beans, 4 lb bag for $18 again. It’s pretty good coffee and the price is amazing. Last time I did subscribe and save and the price jumped way up so that isn’t something I would recommend…..

Accidentally posted this in old thread but wanted to get it here so everyone who might be interested would see it before it’s gone again.

Show is from CA, so CA price; not everywhere.

I don’t know if anyone has mentioned this but the shaky shaky Kraft Parmesan cheese is out everywhere I go. Pasta is scarce also.

Out on the cape, perhaps you're at the end of the distribution point for some products. I don't buy Kraft parmesan, so I don't know about the availability, here in western Massachusetts. Other, less costly, brands are plentiful. And pasta, still plentiful, and still on sale at .49/lb. Also, I picked up some dented boxes of Stop and Shop "Pastrnak" pasta at .44 each.

Here in Columbia, Missouri, what used to be 8 ounce bags of cheddar, mozzarella, etc. are now 6 or 7 ounces depending on brand. Of course the price remains the same so it's like a 30-35% increase in cost for the same amount compared to a few weeks ago...

Others have already pointed out the inflated Price is Right prices, so no need to beat that dead horse farther into the ground.

There seems to be a shortage of potatoes in general. I can't get the yellow potatoes that I have used for years at Aldi anymore. They switched suppliers, to a farm 50 miles from me --- that I didn't even know was there. I don't like Kennebec potatoes unless I grow them, but the salad greens from the new place are ok.

They are out of Ty favorite dog cookies and have been for several weeks the shelves are getting real low to some things are no longer available. What is available the boxes are a lot smaller. A lot of the meat is gone like sausage and those kind of things. I am well prepped and my daughter and SL sent we a lot of venison sausage and jerky. Instead of buying cookies I have been baking.

I have a very picky eater who only likes Kraft shaky shaky or the real blocks of Parmesan ground fine. We mostly eat the real stuff ourselves but it gets expensive. He is a teenage boy, 6’4”…so you get the idea of his appetite. I did find a few boxes of great value elbow pasta today in the 3 lb. box so I bought two and added it to the big Tupperware container I keep it in. You could be right about the distribution points….and you know the bridge tax, everything gets more expensive out here. The pasta you were referring to is .88 cents per box so double what you are paying out there. It’s usually sold out or only a few boxes left. I usually buy ten boxes at a whack.

On an order to Vitacost today I added 2 boxes of Green Forest tissue to qualify for free shipping. They sent an email canceling it. No longer available. I didn't need it already stocked on facial tissue and I noticed they are out of stock on so many things don't know how they are staying in business,

Sometime you ought to get the house brand shaky shaky and put it in the Kraft tube. See if he notices!

I went to the same store that I went to yesterday. Did a little more looking around. Many of the premixed iced teas ie turkey hill were oos. some boxed crackers oos, bagged salads oos some fruit juices oos.
This is just my opinion but if there is something you just have to have get it.
If more People are getting sick or just staying home in fear, the supply chain is going to take a beating in the next month or two and then it will take time to recover
id get frozen meals and pasta

Was looking for the ones in a Styrofoam cup that you just add water to. Lots of the regular non-cup Ramen has been recently showing up

Only worry about what you can control!
Produce and pet foods are getting really thin here on the south east North Carolina coast.

Ramen noodles of every kind and flavor here in rural Wyoming Walmart have been empty for two months now…almost completely bare. Also the following are very sparse to extremely low...
  • Canned veggies
  • canned fruit
  • cheese and yogurt completely empty
  • crackers
  • pasta
  • Mexican and Asian meal products faced but mostly empty
  • milk and eggs low
  • frozen foods mostly ok
  • chicken and beef meh...not out, but not overflowing
  • some fresh fruit picked over
  • coffee and tea ok
  • refridged tea and juice low
  • baking aisle ok
and currently, interstate 80 is closed from Utah to Nebraska, and I-25 is closed from Cheyenne north...meaning Walmart groceries are going to run dry....

Where I am supposed to be.
With all the talk about the flu with vomiting attached to it, I realized that I was out of Cola Syrup (for nausea). From personal experience, this stuff is soothing and a comfort when you can't stop throwing up or keep anything down. It used to be about $2 a bottle. my local pharmacies (Walgreens and CVS) websites say they don't have it, out of stock. Walmart used to carry it OTC, now you can only order it online, they don't carry it "in store" anymore!!!! I price checked Walmart and Amazon.... Amazon won for the price @ 4 bottles for $22.21, it's on the way.

The way I use it when I'm "sick" is crush some ice, put a couple of tablespoons of syrup and eat teaspoons of the mix.

I won't anymore.....but four to five fold is significant....no matter the state of mind.
