I looked there to see if I could find the chocolate bourbon balls that Cary loves. You might know what I'm talking about. Dark chocolate round balls that are filled with bourbon. I think it's bourbon. We got those shipped to us from his grandmother at Christmas time every year. Thanks a bunch!
The Vermont Country Store carries a lot of those liquor candies at Christmas.

There are all kinds of bourbon balls on Amazon...with ridiculous prices! They're not hard to make; just google bourbon balls recipe.

Ran some errands today - went to Publix to return a watermelon that had no flavor. Just picked up a few things so I didn't notice much except I wanted corn, which is on sale (4/$2) and has been very good this year, but they were down to about a half dozen ears. A small pork loin was $9.99; I'll get it at Aldi, thank you! Got a watermelon in Trader Joe's; if this one isn't good then I give up! Dollar Tree was a mess - I'd say about half the shelves in the store were bare. I got what I needed, but had to settle for large freezer bags as they were out of the small ones. (TN Valley)

I'm planning to hit Sam's Club next week, then I'll cancel my membership before they automatically renew it, then I'll get another free membership. For anyone interested, you can get it at this link:

Official Sam's Club Coupons and Discounts

You pay $45 for the membership, then you get a $45 credit towards your first purchase.

I went to our small local store today. Shelves were kind of bare but the weekly truck comes in on Tuesday. Bare shelves could mean that could mean people are shopping there which is good. Due to high prices the store has been struggling. I purchased 1/2 gallon of milk $2.69, pasta sauce $2.55, 2 small pork chops $3.35 and 5 bananas $1.04 (59¢ #). Pasta sauce was more expensive than Aldi, but Aldi has not had the mushroom sauce that I like for a couple months so thought I'd give this store brand a try. Produce looked okay, but prices were crazy. A small bag of apples was over $7.

I again combined errands so went to library, post office and grocery store on one trip. Only a matter of blocks, but still I want to get as much as possible from a tank of gas.

along front range CO ...Wheat Ridge King Sooper's (Kroger) NO EGGS BUT HIGH END TYPE, FEW FRESH CARROTS, ORGANIC LETTUCE POORLY, and few meaningful markdown/clearances......bought several items which were on sale or coupons, and 4 pcks. American Waygu ground meat for $3.49/lb. Three small bags cost $30....full prices would have been around $60...

I forget you are new. I am in CA high desert.

It has nothing to do with being new. Everyone knows CA, NY, OR, WA, MA, etc. are blue states, FL, TX, TN are red states, but there's a bunch of them that most have no idea of where they stand because they're not often in the news. From what I've seen, the shortages are effecting the blue states more than anyplace else and I'd like to see if that's true. :)

And some of us live in states where it pretty much changes day to day...
I have more important things to worry about.

On reports like this, it's a courtesy to put a location.

I'm not new and don't remember where everybody is located.

Your location is not on your member card, so that's no help either.
I forgot to say this time. Usually I do say either Victor Valley in S. CA high deser or S. CA high desert. Would you like my street address? Or town? It isn't a secret. I have mentioned it before when there was a fire.
Or is it the fact I can afford to shop a large order that irritates the crap out of you and obnoxious newbie.

A general location is helpful to take into account high cost-of-living states - Cali, Hawaii, East Coast, etc. Also, high demand areas - densely populated.

Nobody cares about how big an order was - you might have ordered a case of canned peas and a case of canned corn.
As for "newbies" - :popcorn1:;)

I wasn't irritated until I read your reply.

Your propensity to go full snark when it isn't warranted is the actual obnoxious behavior.

This isn't the first time either.

I don't give two shit's about what you can or can't afford, only how you conduct yourself on this forum.

If necessary, I can go scorched earth nasty too.

You don't want that, I promise.

It would be in your best interest as a member here to not cross me.

Has anyone seen canned pears at Aldi's lately, anywhere in the country?

We've looked in every Aldi's we've passed in gosh, about 4 months, and haven't seen them at all. I'm just wondering if there's a problem with their supplier or if this is going to be a growing problem in all stores. Aldi's canned pears run I think about 95 cents (or used to), larger chains stores are at least twice that near us for any brand. We just happen to like Aldi's canned pears better :-)

Haven't seen any pears in over a year in my Aldi. I *think* WM had them last week, and they were $1.28 a can, because somebody had mixed them up with the pineapple chunks and I kept picking up the wrong thing. I looked until I found where they went and put them there.

Yes, got some last month; in fact, I was planning to get a few more cans - probably going later this week, so we'll see if they're still available. I don't remember the exact price, but they were under $1. TN Valley area.

Awesome, thank you!! I'll keep checking with fingers crossed, maybe it isn't a lost cause after all :-)

And when tempers flare on here, usually something big happens in the real world.
Just past full moon, or something else in the air. All I can say is - thank God for dog crates otherwise there'd have been a drippin' fresh Lab puppy skin hanging on my wall this morning...the little demon. As we sit, I don't even remember what she did (or destroyed), but at least she's learning when Ma is pissed...the crate is her friend.

Off topic, I know...but daym...I need some time out on the lawn mower this afternoon away from it all.

Still, there doesn't seem to be any shortages of anything here in the Tupelo, MS. area. Just high prices that keep going higher.
I can't comment because its three weeks since I went to the grocery, but DH is having a hard time finding his tampico mango punch drink. I'm in north central Louisiana.

I don't know if this industry-wide or just a profit-policy w/ our friends Kroger.

1. They're now selling single quantity house brand products @ 1.25-99 each when most were 10/$10 previously.

2. They've started pricing previously budget wise product up to the price of premium products in the same category i.e. Thomas Bagels were previously about 4.99-5.49/6 while Pepperidge Farm was 3.89-4.19/6. Now, they're all 4.99/6.
Rye bread is cheaper & goes further so I've stopped Breakie Bagels & gone to Breakie Sandwichs.

3. I also caught them breaking up 3 & 5 pack sleeves of Lysol wipes to sell as individual units but I'd think that was standard practice.

went to walmart this morning, the shelves were fairly stocked but the prices suck.

This particular Walmart has a broken air conditioner and big buckets everywhere where rain water was pouring in last night.

so, yeah...fun.

I see the same thing here in suburban Memphis, TN. Prices are climbing through the ceiling, but little in the line of actual shortages.

You are, of course, not that terribly far from me, and we are sitting right near some of the busiest commerce and shipping lanes in the nation - specifically the intersection between I-40 and I-55.

For the benefit of you newbies, let me point something out that the old timers already know.

Because we sit at one of the busiest shipping hubs in the nation, and so much of what you folks get (no matter how far away you live) comes through our neck of the woods on its way to your place —

BEWARE when you start reading Southern Breeze or me or the several others of us who live in the mid-south complain about shortages.

Oh, even we might complain of a single item shortage. Or even a late night Sunday visit to WalMart where there were alot of empty shelves - as rhey are likely to be filled again by Monday morning.

But when we start getting on here and talking about more than just an occasional, short lived shortage —

pull out your umbrella and cover yourself cuz the :poop: really might be about to hit the fan!

Our area will be one of the LAST to see systemic shortages, because so much of the nation‘s stuff rolls through our highways, railroads and/or flies through our airport (the main hub for FedEx is at Memphis International Airport, and we have a massive build up of both FedEx and Amazon warehouse complexes that support that hub And all the other commercial commerce that travels through here. There is so much stored in those massive warehouse complexes - that I am told are several square MILES in size - that you could just about supply the nation from just our own warehousing system alone.)

So, pay special attention to reports coming out of those of us who live in the Memphis area or surrounding areas in north Mississippi, west Tennessee and east Arkansas.
