12 pack Pepsi used to be 3/$9, then 3/$11, now 3/$14.00

Six weeks ago, empty shelves in Walmart were due to no stockers. You get there early and you got product because the shelves were filled over night but not during the day.

Yesterday, at 0900, empty shelves. No product available.

I don't understand what is going on. I go out on the highway, both upper midwest and east, trucks bumper to bumper hauling something to somewhere.

I dont understand either. Is it location? Or big box stores in general? The thing that irritates me as a sandwitch eater is the lack of choice in lunchmeat. Yeah I know we are spoiled. But even so why have they quit making a varity of cold cuts?

I haven’t bought lunch meat in ages, but my hubby had a craving for turkey and Swiss sandwiches. $10.99 a lb. even for the cheap brand! The high quality Dietz & Watson was $14.99 a lb. I nearly fell over. They had prepackaged cold cuts in the deli section that you could just grab and take that were priced around $7, but they literally had about 7 slices of meat. It just wasn’t worth it.

I know, ridiculous prices. One of the stores I shop has that brand. I occasionally get the roast beef. The kind I like olive loaf, pickle loaf and that Oscar Meyer ham with little cheeses in it hasn't been available since this all started.

Talk about sticker shock. I went shopping at Smart and Final online looking for water and lawn bags and candy and they are limiting water to 2 cases, candy bars said low stock and are crazy expensive. The one that got me though is the lawn bags. 25 bucks for box of 80.

On The Level
Back in my own home after spending much of the last two weeks out of town.
Decided to get a little top off and fresh grocery shopping done.

Produce was 30-40% bare. Really wanted a big bag of broccoli crowns to bake with olive oil and salt/pepper. Got the last two of four small bags. Two for $5. At least they were on special. No other fresh broccoli in store other than a half dozen bags of broccoli/cauliflower crowns mix.

Blueberries were also on two for $5 special. Bought two but almost hesitated because they were bigger and fatter than I like.

Deli counter, wanted some salami as I was gifted a couple blocks of cheese. $7.50 per pound of some brand I've never seen before. Haven't done much deli shopping in last 18+ months. The case was low. Maybe 1/3 of what it's been in years past. Not a lot of selections. Deli manager looked frazzled, desperate for help.

Meat section, was low, especially beef. Grabbed a pound of Angus ground beef 81/19 for $5.87. Also a pound of ground turkey, that was the best deal $2.99. Guess I'm going to make ground turkey and carrot soup in the instapot; because I've got a lot of carrots that'll be spoiled soon.

Milk, whole White milk, was cleaned out, got the one of the dozen or so left. Store brand. Name brand out of stock other than expensive organic milk.

Cottage cheese was plentiful!

Decided I wanted hot dogs this week. Hot dog buns became expensive, debated buying another loaf of bread instead, which I know makes fine hot dogs and hamburgers. But I just want hot dogs, onions, and mustard in a bun.

Looked at paper plates, bowls, cups, etc. Very low, maybe 25% stocked. Paper towels and TP were fine.

Grabbed a few cans of sardines and mackerel wanted to try some new flavors. Both about $1 more per can than ordering on line.

Store now has sign offering a $2 per hour premium for new hires. Job fair this week for two days.

I just got back from my pickup order at WalMart. As usual only about 2/3 of what I wanted was available. It was slow when I went, so I talked to the 2 kids that bring out your order. They have been told by their boss that something really big was coming in December. They also mentioned that people are loading up on rice and beans. They were both males in their early 20's and kinda nervous about what was coming next. Usually guys that age are only worried about other things.

I ran to Kroger for a few things this morning. I mentioned to the meat manager that there was none of the ground lamb, for which there's an e-coupon this week. She said that she ordered extra but none came in. She was also going on about how much and how fast meat prices keep going up. Doesn't sound like it's going to get better any time soon.

What?! Wow.... that’s super out of the ordinary!
I wonder what they meant?? Do you think they were nervous about WHAT that IS, or just that they were talking to you?
Dang, I wish they’d said more!

I just got back home from our local Walmart where I did my bi-monthly grocery shopping. A small town, NE MS. Walmart.

The store was fully stocked on almost everything. I wanted to get more yellow rice, but none of any brand on the shelf. I did find plenty of celery seed, so I bought two bottles. There were no Margaret Holmes butter beans, so I substituted with the same brand of squash with vidalia onions. Plenty of canned meats. I bought a variety of those, but no Hormel chicken chili to be found. I got everything else on my list, so it was a good run.

BTW.....Cary saw a can of pork sausage with alligator canned meat! He tried to slip that into the shopping cart! :shk:

I have noticed a few articles in the msm lately accusing people of hoarding. Be extra careful who you tell what you have. On another note we may have to hide what we have. I wonder if it came to food distribution you would have to prove that you had a need….and they would also want you to be Vaxxed of course.

Shrinkage at WalMart in aisle number 3. I was wondering why they had been out of frozen veggies for quite awhile.
Previous packages were 1 lb for $1. The new stock is 12 ounces for .84 each. I'm certain that the public school masses can spot this new bargain.

I stopped by Winn Dixie yesterday in North Central Florida. Was going to pick up a package of sliders to have some for dinner and some to freeze. I've purchased them at $6.99 and on sale at $5.99 fairly recently. They were $8.99! For a pound of hamburger! They stayed on the shelf. In fact, the meat area, though fairly small in this store, was packed. One look at the prices told you why. Even the "quick buy, marked down" meat, was only marked down 50 cents a pound. I found a package of 4 nice looking strip steaks that were "quick buys" at $7.99 a lb. Bought those instead, and cut them up for us and they will make six meals (had one last night). Would rather eat steak at $7.99 a pound than hamburger at $8.99 a pound!!!

I pointed that out to DH this morning. More and more articles referring to stocking up as hoarding.

I got a notification from Ice Age Farmer saying he is "hearing talk of FedGov to soon take control of food distribution, and even rationing it." Anybody else hear anything about this?
This(!!!) could be, what those kids working at Walmart wax taking about!!
Ok, I’m at work but I’m sure it was on this thread from a member here reporting on their shopping trip!

This is the one! Maybe then heard our food supply was going to become fed controlled!

When Pelosi doesn’t have electricity to keep her 25k refrigerator/freezer running or source her favorite ice cream and “let’s go brandon” can no longer get an ice cream cone and woman can’t get shampoo so their hair smells oh so wonderful when he stiffs it these shortages will go bye bye.
Being sarcastic because I doubt they will ever do without.

Husband went to Tractor Supply ( Christiansburg,VA ) yesterday. He said the shelves were empty. He asked what was going on and the guy told him "this is the way it is now". They had one bag of Beet Pulp pellets and a partial bag of Timoth/Alfalfa pellets. He sold him the partial bag for $3.00!!!

Today he was in Salem, VA and stopped by the TS there. He said they were well stocked so he was able to get what we needed.

A Walmart Supercenter here in Norcal had no shopping carts yesterday. No employees to go fetch carts. The shoppers have to do it. Watched people with arms full of stuff. Thing is, you don't know there are no carts until in the store. Who wants to go hunt them down.

Have any of you seen the price of bologna?? I don't eat it often but once in a while get a hankering for a good ol' bologna and mustard sammy. I'll only eat beef bologna and Oscar Mayer is $5.99 for a 16oz. package!!!

Yes! Wife has a beef bologna addiction. We saw the same $ 5.99 a package price in WalMart this past weekend. Got two of them; the packaged meats section in the large WalMart we were at (Fredericksburg, VA) was pretty well picked over.

The milk was nearly nonexistent-missus buys the Lactaid milk (no tummy issues, it just keeps a lot longer) and there was ONE half gallon left on the shelves. One-in a 6' tall display case. There was plenty of (pricey) organic milk and soy and almond milk but little to none regular milk ( and no buttermilk at all) .
