Report: DOJ’s Probe Of Clintons Ends With A Whimper

U.S. Attorney John Huber effectively concluded a sprawling investigation into several matters related to the Clintons without a finding of criminal wrongdoing, according to a Washington Post report.
In November 2017, then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions tapped Huber to investigate the Clinton Foundation as well as Hillary Clinton’s actions as secretary of state toward Uranium One, an energy firm linked to Clinton Foundation donors. Huber was also tasked with investigation matters related to the Russia probe, but that part of his investigation was ceded to the Justice Department’s office of the inspector general.

Huber reviewed documents related to the investigations and coordinated with federal investigators in Little Rock, Arkansas, who were probing the Clinton Foundation, according to WaPo, which cited current and former law enforcement officials. (RELATED: What Is John Huber Up To?)

WaPo’s sources said Huber’s review turned up few leads worth pursuing. The Justice Department has not formally closed the investigation, according to WaPo, but it appears essentially to be over.

One source said neither Huber nor anyone else at the Justice Department expected the investigation to go anywhere.
“We didn’t expect much of it, and neither did he,” a source familiar with Huber’s activities told WaPo.
“And as time went on, a lot of people just forgot about it.”

Huber’s investigation was overshadowed by other Justice Department probes that focused on the origins of the Trump-Russia investigation. The Justice Department’s inspector general investigated the FBI’s surveillance of former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page. And William Barr, who succeeded Sessions as attorney general, tapped another U.S. attorney, John Durham, to investigate U.S. intelligence agencies’ actions toward the Trump campaign.

Barr said in an interview in May 2019 that Huber was “winding down” his investigation.

“The other issues he’s been working on relate to Hillary Clinton. Those are winding down and hopefully we’ll be in a position to bring those to fruition,” Barr told CBS News in a May 31, 2019, interview.

The Justice Department did not respond to a request for comment about WaPo’s story.

FEBRUARY 20, 2019|JUDICIAL WATCHClinton Collusion
Clinton-Benghazi.jpg

Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe into possible collusion with Russia by the Trump presidential campaign dominates the news, but behind the scenes another bombshell story is coming together piece by piece. Was the Clinton network knee-deep in Russians and did the FBI shut down an investigation that would have provided answers about Clinton collusion?

Judicial Watch is one of the few organizations in pursuit of the story. We filed a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit against the Justice Department after it failed to respond to our request for “all communications” related to “the closure or possible closure of an investigation into the Clinton Foundation” in 2016. Last week, in a separate lawsuit, we uncovered evidence pointing to undisclosed documents related to controversial FBI official Andrew McCabe and potential charges against Mrs. Clinton. We sued for records of a meeting between a top FBI official and an attorney for a Clinton-connected law firm related to then-candidate Trump and Russia, a story first reported by Fox News. And we’ve taken a skeptical look at the appointment by then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions of U.S. Attorney John Huber to “evaluate certain issues” rising from the 2016 election.

One of those issues is the Uranium One controversy. Russia’s Rosatom atomic energy corporation in 2010 received U.S. permission, including a sign-off from Hillary Clinton’s State Department, to buy Uranium One, a Canadian company that owned significant American uranium assets. Was the Russian purchase of Uranium One connected to payments to the Clinton network and improper actions by Secretary of State Clinton?

Judicial Watch is lonely on the story but not alone. The Hill’s indefatigable John Solomon a year ago broke the news that the Clinton Foundation was under FBI investigation. “The Justice Department has launched a new inquiry into whether the Clinton Foundation engaged in any pay-to-play politics or other illegal activities while Hillary Clinton served as secretary of state,” Solomon reported.

Earlier this month, Solomon was at it again. Revisiting an episode that has “escaped significant attention,” Solomon reports that there is “clear evidence now that shows Hillary Clinton’s family and charity profited from Moscow and simultaneously facilitated official government actions benefitting Russia.”

The episode centers around the Skolkovo Innovation Center, a high-tech business center launched in Moscow in 2009. Five years later, as Skolkovo entities expanded in the U.S., the FBI issued an extraordinary public warning, saying that the Skolkovo connection “may be a means for the Russian government to access our nation’s sensitive or classified research development facilities and dual-use technologies.”

Solomon notes that Secretary of State Clinton’s “handprint was everywhere” on the Skolkovo project, part of an attempt by the U.S. to reboot Russia relations. Leading the Russian side of the project was oligarch Viktor Vekselberg, a Putin-connected billionaire and Clinton Foundation donor. Firms connected to the oligarch donated at least $75,000 to the foundation. As the Skolkovo collaboration got underway, Solomon reminds us, Bill Clinton made his way to Moscow and was paid a jaw-dropping $500,000 for a speech to a Russian investment bank, Renaissance Capital.

Solomon reports that Bill Clinton sought permission from the State Department to meet with Vekselberg and “Arkady Dvorkovich, a senior official of Rosatom,” during the Moscow trip. This was at the time Rostom was “seeking State’s permission to buy Uranium One.” The Washington Examiner notes that the Clintons’ “relationship to Vekselberg continued throughout Hillary Clinton’s time at the State Department.”

Solomon adds additional details on possible Clinton collusion with the Russians—read his full report here. And Viktor Vekselberg certainly is a busy man, making a cameo in the Mueller probe and turning up in various other sketchy endeavors. Not everything in the Russia story comes up as collusion, cover-up or crime, but Solomon correctly notes that evidence related to Skolkovo, Rosatom and Uranium One “shows that the Clintons financially benefitted from Russia—personally and inside their charity—at the same time they were involved in U.S. government actions that rewarded Moscow and increased U.S. security risks.”

Hillary Clinton has Russia Collusion Problem

All of the huffing and puffing about President Trump and Russia these past two years effectively took the spotlight off Hillary Clinton and her foundation’s activities. That, I suspect, is the purpose of the Mueller/Comey/Rosenstein/McCabe farce. Our chief investigative reporter, Micah Morrison, updates us in his latest Investigative Bulletin.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe into possible collusion with Russia by the Trump presidential campaign dominates the news, but behind the scenes another bombshell story is coming together piece by piece. Was the Clinton network knee-deep in Russians, and did the FBI shut down an investigation that would have provided answers about Clinton collusion?

JUDICIAL WATCHClinton v. Trump: A Tale of Two Foundations

rexusa_1711374c.jpg

Clinton v. Trump: A Tale of Two Foundations

“Here ruining people is considered sport,” White House Deputy Counsel Vincent Foster wrote in a note shortly before his suicide in 1993. Foster’s fate in the early stages of the Whitewater scandal comes to mind with the news of Robert Mueller exonerating President Trump on Russian collusion and Attorney General William Barr clearing the president of obstruction of justice.

In Washington, as Foster recognized, politics is a blood sport and the whirling blade of scandal can be murder. Donald Trump recognizes this too. “There are a lot of people out there that have done some very, very evil things,” the president said Monday with barely contained fury. “Very bad things. I would say treasonous things against our country.”

The Mueller Report is not the beginning of the end of the scandal war, but the end of the beginning. The media will not back off. The Democrat-led House will launch probes. Republicans will parry. The 2020 election vortex will soon be upon us. And state prosecutors—particularly in Trump’s home state of New York—have signaled their intent to destroy the president.

The threat from New York is serious. One way to understand the jihad is to consider a tale of two foundations, Clinton and Trump.

The Trump Foundation is no more. In December, the foundation signed a deal with the New York state attorney general, agreeing to dissolution and distribution of its remaining assets under court supervision.

Mr. Trump’s main sin was using his own charitable funds—for years, he was the foundation’s chief donor—for non-charitable activities such as settling legal claims and once purchasing a portrait of himself. He also allowed the foundation to be inserted into several improper campaign activities in the chaotic 2016 race. Details here.

The price of these deeds? Small beans in Foundation World: New York is seeking $2.8 million in restitution and “additional penalties.” The foundation’s remaining $1.7 million will be disbursed with a court’s permission. New York wants to ban the president for 10 years from serving on any foundation board and ban his children for one year.

The Clinton Foundation is still in business. It had a bad year in 2017, raising only $38 million, “a sharp decline from the $249 million raised during [Hillary] Clinton’s first year as secretary of state,” reported the Center for Responsive Politics. Not small beans.

When Mrs. Clinton became secretary of state, she pledged “to not participate personally or substantially” in matters involving the Clinton Foundation and its related entities. But evidence soon emerged—thanks in part to Judicial Watch’s Freedom of Information Act lawsuits—that the Clintons were running a massive pay-to-play scam at State and the foundation, premised in part on the notion that Mrs. Clinton would one day be president. Donors—including foreign donors—flocked to pay tribute to the president-in-waiting.

In a news-making report on Clinton ethics, Judicial Watch uncovered documents showing that Bill Clinton raked in $48 million for 215 speeches while his wife presided over U.S. foreign policy. And that was only the beginning. Millions poured into the foundation from foreign governments while Mrs. Clinton was secretary of state. In the Uranium One controversy, entities connected to the Russian company bidding for control of U.S. uranium assets—a deal that needed sign-off from Mrs. Clinton’s State Department—contributed more than $140 million to the Clinton Foundation. Tycoons, lobbyists, foreign royalty and various monied riff-raff all sought and gained access to the Clinton State Department through generous donation to the Clinton Foundation. Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton last year provided a roadmap of foundation malfeasance in groundbreaking Congressional testimony, “Oversight of Nonprofit Organizations: A Case Study on the Clinton Foundation.”

Where was law enforcement? New York state was dismissive of concerns about the Clintons. The New York attorney general in 2016, Eric Schneiderman, forced the Trump Foundation to cease fundraising activities while he investigated, but rejected an investigation of the Clinton Foundation. The Clinton Foundation issues were “ministerial, routine stuff” and the organization was “properly registered and properly filed,” he said. Schneiderman resigned as attorney general in 2018 following shocking allegations of physical abuse from four women.

The Department of Justice was equally incurious when it came to the Clinton Foundation. An October 2016 FBI probe appears to have sputtered out. Reportedly, senior Justice Department officials in 2016 refused FBI requests to issue subpoenas on Clinton Foundation issues. And while news surfaced in 2018 about a new FBI probe into the foundation, there has been no indication it is going anywhere.

In New York, a new attorney general promises to make destroying Mr. Trump her life’s work. “I will be shining a bright light into every dark corner of his real estate dealings, and every dealing, demanding truthfulness at every turn,” declared newly elected New York State Attorney General Letitia James in November. Later, she told NBC that her office “will use every area of the law to investigate President Trump and his business transactions and that of his family.”

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has doubled down on Trump probes, saying the president “is not out of the woods—there are many cases that are pending.” New investigations, unrelated to the Trump Foundation, have been opened. New York carries considerable firepower. It has jurisdiction over the Trump Organization and related entities. State attorneys have a long track record in prosecuting corporate and tax fraud. An ambitious state prosecutor—not bound by Justice Department guidelines—might be tempted to test the proposition that a sitting president can’t be indicted. Or sealed indictments might await the outcome of the 2020 election.

So buckle up, because one knows what the road ahead will bring. The immutable law of presidential scandal is that there are no immutable laws. Who could have imagined Monica’s blue dress? Or a secret taping system in the Nixon White House? Or a former CIA director calling a sitting president’s conduct “treasonous?”

No surprises, but it is disappointing to know that she really is above the law.

I think failing to arrest, indict and imprison these traitorous rats is the biggest failing of Trumps tenure.

Hillary reportedly cleared as DOJ’s ‘non investigation’ of Clinton Foundation ‘results in non prosecutions’
January 10, 2020 | Tom Tillison |

Citing standard anonymous sources, the Washington Post reported Thursday that a Justice Department “inquiry” — not quite as trespassing as investigation — of Hillary Clinton has effectively
ended with no finding of criminal wrongdoing.

Never has an opening sentence exhibited more bias: “A Justice Department inquiry launched more than two years ago to mollify conservatives clamoring for more investigations of Hillary Clinton has effectively ended with no tangible results, and current and former law enforcement officials said they never expected the effort to produce much of anything.”

According to the newspaper, current and former officials said that U.S. Attorney John Huber, who was tapped by then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions, has largely finished a look at possible corruption at the Clinton Foundation and the Obama-era sale of a uranium mining company, Uranium One, during Clinton’s time as secretary of state.

Through the deal, Russia acquired about 20 percent of uranium production capacity in the U.S. Investors reportedly donated millions of dollars to the Clinton Foundation.

“We didn’t expect much of it, and neither did he,” said a source said to be familiar with the matter. “And as time went on, a lot of people just forgot about it.”

Attorney General Bill Barr said in an interview in May 2019 that Huber was “winding down” his investigation.

“The other issues he’s been working on relate to Hillary Clinton. Those are winding down and hopefully, we’ll be in a position to bring those to fruition,” he told CBS News.

There may be an argument to be made that the Deep State looks out for its own, as the instances were people are held accountable in Washington are few and far between.

Count Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, among the skeptics.

Taking to Twitter, he said it was of no surprise that a “non investigation results in non prosecutions.”
DOJ non investigation results in non prosecutions? No surprise. DOJ has NEVER stopped defending Hillary Clinton’s email misconduct. @JudicialWatch faced six DOJ and State Dept attorneys in fed court last month who were trying to shut down our Clinton email case. Devlin Barrett on Twitter

Looking to justify their actions, she tweeted: “Yet another two year investigation, yet another conclusion that the FBI didn’t shirk its investigative responsibilities. Huh. I’m starting to sense a pattern here…”

I'm disappointed but not surprised. We as regular people continue to hold ourselves to a higher standard while these parasites feed off everything from the real workers. They go to work in nice suits and have fancy name plates on their desks and office doors.

They feel important because their titles and high salaries reflect their importance. A days work means doing absolutely nothing because there is no getting into trouble that way. This of course means a higher evaluation since they didn't piss anyone off.

They look forward to a promotion so they can have a nicer office, higher pay and be responsible for a group of people who do nothing. Again their higher position reflects their importance. Just ask them.

Wait, someone slap me....I'm describing my government co-workers over the decades.....I need to wake up.........snap out of it..

No one seems to have the balls to bring the Clintons to justice, why is that?

Is there an end to this cluster----.?
