Story Remember Robert Heinlein story

I read a story years ago about A young man in the space school/academy?? who had to drop out to help his brother in a race between the planets. His brother got injured and was left on MARS and he had to be picked up later on. The Cadet won the race. Anybody remember that story??

Closest I can think of was "Between Planets". Kid leaves boarding school to join parents on Mars because of interplanetary tension. Caught in revolt and diverted to Venus. Ends up on rebel ship that went to Mars on a rescue mission. Book: Between Planets (e-reading.club)

Red Planet maybe? No, that's not it. It might have been one of his short stories because I sure don't remember it.

Are you sure it was RAH & not by Andre Norton? If it was Heinlein it was probably Time for the Stars. 195??? but pretty sure Norton had a similar tale; pushing 80 so, its been a while
