Recalling a Prediction from Years Ago Regarding Pawlenty's Presidential Substance

Came across this today: "Is McCain inching toward Pawlenty?"

Was reminded of a post I made almost 4.5 years ago: "Speaking of MN governors, let me be the first to make a prediction for our current governor, Tim Pawlenty. I believe he is of sturdy presidential timber and will in probably 8 years or so be a front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination."

I had recently met him at that time at a military event and was blown away by his genuine, humble, unassuming, yet energizing way. (He insisted on taking a photo with my 10-year old son and that my son put up "bunny ears" behind Pawlenty's head!) Today, his record and political views have continued to be almost 100% in line with my own and what I think most conservatives look for in a candidate.

Too bad he's a white male, otherwise he'd be more than a match for the Obama steamroller even today.

But bottom line ... whether Pawlenty gets the VP call or not this year, I'll reconfirm my call that in '12, he's going to be a Republican front runner for the nomination. And I think he's going to be electable on a national level.

(Interestingly, at about the same time a few years ago, I ran into McCain at the MSP airport. He was with one aide, period. Said hello to him, but he was preoccupied and unapproachable.)
