[rec] Lipton's Dry Onion Soup Mix

Onion soup mix is a great seasoning for all kinds of meats and dips. Here is how to make it at home.


Lipton's Dry Onion Soup Mix

Combine the following ingredients:

1/4 cup dried minced onion
2 Tbs. instant (granules) beef bouillon
1/2 tsp. onion powder

Makes the equivalent of 1 pkg. soup mix

Onion soup mix can be added to so many things.

I can buy dried minced onion and onion powder
at the local Dollar Stores for $1 sometimes 2/$1.

I lucked out on a close out of beef bouillon for 25 &cent.
So grabbed a bunch of those.
Can make it much cheaper than buying premade.

Thanks for the tip Homestyle. Right now I can buy generic soup mix for a quarter a package, but I can see the name brands keep getting more and more expensive. Am going to try your recipe.

Onion soup mix is great on fish. I take it backpacking.

Clean the trout, sprinkle Lipton onion soup mix inside and out, wrap fish in foil. Place on the coals, about 5 minutes per side.
