Well, I'm back home and it will be months before I can put my full weight on my right leg.
They put some hardware in my hip and may have to watch my self around powerful magnets.

There is a bit of a story behind all of this and I'm telling you it was one hell of a ruff ride getting to one hospital and then shipped off to Fairfax VA and with no pain meds whatsoever. The transport to Fairfax took an hour and 45 minuets.

Did they take you to city instead of winchester? Because I can believe city would send you out without pain meds

Heal up soon.

And for heaven sake Listen to what the Dr’s say on what you do and how you take care of yourself.

It’s the morons that feel much better after 8 days that end right back into the hospital and the second time IS MUCH HARDER to fix than the first.

Get well, but do it slowly..

Yep city and they had me sitting in a wheel chair for a few hours before they had a talk with me and only then they realized how serious a problem I had then off to x-ray as quickly as they could and boy it hurt getting from that wheel chair to the X-ray table and then on to a hospital bed and off to do a C-T scan, the x-ray tech was telling me they (city) and Winchester do not have anyone that can fix my problem took an about and hour and a half before a doctor talked to me telling me the same thing and that I have to go to Fairfax for a major rebuild that later turned out to be a four surgery to put it all back tougher with pins and other hardware. The people over in Winchester where I did the rehabilitation got ahold of the x-rays that showed the hardware and they were like wow they never seen that much medal in one hip.

We know that area very well, grew up in Alexandria, Falls Church, Fairfax and still have family back there, some in Winchester. I had several surgeries at Inova Fairfax and gave birth there, too. I can only imagine what you went through in what sounds like a road trip. DH's Father was life-flighted out of Prince William Hospital to Fairfax for emergency heart surgery decades ago. It used to be a great hospital and trauma center, I hope it still is. But, my gosh, a road trip??

So very glad to hear you're home and on the mend now. Prayers continue for a quick and complete recovery :-)

Don’t let the Piss Ants get you down…
Welcome back!

Get well soon. I've had a leg torn up and put back together. It may take a while but you can recover pretty well.

I was about to ask but you answered the Question-whether you had any pins sticking out for later removal. With hip dysplasia and some other surgeries with large dogs we left the pins sticking out for later removal.

I posted way up top when we first heard about this-do not sit on your ass. It's going to Suck but do the rehab and get self mobile-my grandmother busted her hip in her 60's and spent the next 30 years bedridden. She went from my Grandma to a shell of a person gone insane watching Soaps all day, needing to be taken care of and ass-wiped.

Don't let that happen to you.

Your medical care/talent, that put you back together, are likely among some of the best in the nation, for their specialty. Fairfax Hospital is a major medical hub/facility, serving the region of VA, WVA, MD and D.C.

Heal well - be well.

Best wishes.

Glad you’re home! You have some work to do now. Prayers for you on that. It’s gonna be not fun, but you have to do it. Patience.

I had a hip replacement several years ago. That all was fine UNTIL I fell and the pin in the femur totally busted up the bone. Do not remember the ambulance ride to the local hospital but when those ortho guys threw up their hands I was carried to one of Dallas's trauma hospitals. That trip convinced me that ambulance suspension has not advanced since the 1890's. There is a week that I do not remember much but saw the x ray and there was a bunch of hardware holding the bone together. I do agree that you have to do the rehab.

I think it's time for an update on where I'm at with recovery. After I left Fairfax hospital in Virginia wife came and picked me up and transported me to Winchester VA where I underwent Physical Therapy to learn to get around in a wheelchair and use a walker spent two weeks there before going home. We got setup with a closer to home Physical Therapy with a well equipped Gym and still using the walker for some time before trying to get me to use a cane which went well for a while before having a setback and having to use the walker for a week and a half before going back to the cane again. I'm no longer paying for Physical Therapy, but have three free months (up to June 17, 2022) free access to the gym and all of the equipment.
I'm doing much better and now driving and going to the local gym twice a week and still using the cane and no so sure if I will ever be without the cane for the rest of my life but time will tell, we are looking to signup in June for a membership with the gym, the treadmill is a great workout for me to get on it and walk 1/4 to 3/10th of a mile right now pushing to get to 1/2 mile and there is other equipment I like using that is helping me a great deal.
At home right now I can now get up on the tractor and drive it and lately using it to move wood chips that is being dropped at our place and I have to relocate them elsewhere on the property with the Kubota and also running the lawnmower but I can only take so much bouncing around and have to quit for a while and if hurting bad enough stop for the rest of the day.

Glad to hear yer doin’ good, Pub.

Good to get healed up a bit before festivities begin, if they ever begin......

But......if you spell “cane” wrong, just one more time.... Dennis likely gunna use it on you.

Ok; I fixed it and it's my fault this time and yeah Dennis gets after me for some of the misspelling, but that darn autocorrect I don't catch what it does all the time oh well. :D

I gotta watch my spellchuck like a hawk.

Folks occasionally accuse me of thread drift.

If they saw the garbled nonsense spellchuck throws together when I get up to pee or get coffee, well......

Man, it's bad enough that you had a horrible injury and no pain relief. But then they made you dance???!!

Sorry, couldn't resist. I sincerely hope you heal properly without complications.

Glad to hear you have progressed as far as you have are getting back to a somewhat normal life. Continue to take care of yourself and don’t overdo it and injure yourself again.

You will all note that he has not yet denied my allegations of wild and extreme sex having caused his injuries! The silence speaks volumes...

I wish you successful and continued healing, brother.

Ok; I think this will be the last and final update to this thread.
It was two year ago I did not make it into the back of my pickup truck and hit the ground hard busting my right side pelvis in four places I spent three days laying in the hospital before they could figure out how best to fix what was broken and then 4 hours of surgery. I'm here to tell you I was one sore puppy later that day and wondering if I will ever walk again.
I'm now getting around rather well and at home I get around often without the cane but still carry the cane with me whenever I leave the house and I can only go so far before I need a rest and the cane helps me go longer without stopping, I have limits because of the injury. The injury has not fully healed it still hurts me and I think I have gotten use to the pain to the point it's no longer as painful as it was in the beginning I have a major numb spot on my right quad and on parts of both of my feet .
I'm trying to not let this stop me from doing what I want to do or need to be doing and I have been cutting and moving firewood it just takes me longer to do it now.

Excellent final report... and I always wondered how you had been hurt! Just a simple fall, huh? We sure get more brittle as we get older! I'm sorry you still have pain, but I guess that's part of the price we pay for active lives. Keep moving! It's the best "medicine" there is for injuries as we age.
