OT/MISC Publius has hurt himself very badly - UPDATE, post 156, 181, 198

Make sure he understands that he is about to meet 3 or 4 of the most wonderful people in the world.
The only problem is these folks all have Torquemada fixations, and, even though they don't have his TOOLS they will STILL be working him over.

I can't say enough about my rehab people except that if I ever meet them again it will be 2 weeks too soon.
I had 2 slave drivers who PUSHED me to do the exercise work not only frequently but CORRECTLY.

And because of them, I am out of the arm brace AND the foot brace as of yesterday.
NOW it's a different set of slave drivers and strength and stamina work. I'm gonna be moderately sore for the next 3-4 weeks but it will be MY fault for pushing farther than they say.

Good luck to him and PLEASE PLEASE make sure he understands about the absolute FACT that his rehab exercises are VITAL to his getting back to110%.

Currently he is in the hospital having gone through 4 hours of reconstructive surgery on right hip/pelvis. He will not be posting anything until he is discharged and back home.

Just saw this & no time to read thru the thread (am on lunch hour about to head back to work)---did he have an automobile accident? fall off a ladder?

and--is there a way to contribute to help him out?

Prayers incoming. CoalCracker reminded me of the meet up all those years ago. 10?12? It doesn't seem that long ago but it was. Publius is good people. My first thought was; "Did he fall off the bike?".

Praying for our Lord to bless Publius abundantly with healing, grace and relief from pain. May his doctors be skilled, blessed and guided in their efforts to put him back together. May his family and caregivers be blessed with patience as he recovers.

Any updates? Oh Lord let the surgery have gone well. Please, we humbly ask this in your son's name.

I had the pleasure of meeting Publius in person back ten or twelve years ago at a gathering of TB2K members from the Mid-Atlantic region. He is a top shelf guy.

Hoping he gets back on his feet and on his motorcycle soon.

How do you get cardio bed ridden with a broken hip?

Arm cycling. I’m sure a rehab specialist has something like that. If not. Simply mimic the boxers speed bag movements in a slower style that does not upset your core tilting the hips.

But movement creating cardio is key to not going down in 18 months.

Well Doc, you know ol' Publius and those young college girls. He just couldn't help himself and when one suggested him hanging upside down from a tree limb while she... Well gravity won that one and Publius is in the hospital.

He's now a huge man, the most decent of souls. He longs for his mate, I understand it's not to be for him, I would never tell him that because it would hurt his soul. I never had a true mate in my life, and now it's too late. I just give it all and him to God. No other way to handle it.
