OT/MISC Publius has hurt himself very badly - UPDATE, post 156, 181, 198

Don’t let the Piss Ants get you down…
Keep on working it.

I had (many years ago) a very involved operation on my right knee. For a long time (years) I had areas that were completely numb. That's gone now, I guess it takes a while for those nerve networks to reconnect. I'd be bothering the doctor if you feel like you're not fully or properly healed.

Excellent final report... and I always wondered how you had been hurt! Just a simple fall, huh? We sure get more brittle as we get older! I'm sorry you still have pain, but I guess that's part of the price we pay for active lives. Keep moving! It's the best "medicine" there is for injuries as we age.

The Truck is one of the long four door pickup trucks and it has a factory lift kit and the tail gate is about close to four feet off the ground. Here in West Virginia the ground is hard as a rock and will even resist the plow, to explain it I ended up landing on my right side and I hit the ground hard. This was the first time I have broken any bones and I was 63 at the time and now 65 and very active and now moving slower but still moving on my own.

Saved, to glorify God.
Developing such a "hitch in yer git-along" can instantaneosly transform an otherwise healthy, senior citizen from the active, bold, confident, young feeling person he was yesterday to a wiser realist, more aware of his age and the need to be cautious, lest he do it again.
Please be careful that you don't take out the other hip!

Glad to hear you're not letting the aches, pains and damages from a life well lived stop you from living and hopefully enjoying life. Was surprised nothing was said about swimming as therapy? I find it takes the weight off joints and allows for better mobility, stretching and exercise.

Are you anywhere close to Berkley? A nice long soak in a hot spring? Sounds good to me.

Best wishes OGM

Glad to hear you're still chugging along. Just take it easy - the work will still be there later.

We used to live near Beckley. I didn't break anything but I've had both hips replaced twice. Give it time.

Same boat here. Not planning on running any marathons or to do "armed 30 mile hikes" these days. But I do get around, albeit more slowly and stairs a mortal enemy.

These days there's a of forethought required before starting to move; where to park, which entrance to use, is there a grade in my planned route, how far I go before the knees start screaming "STOP!!!" and I need a resting spot. Getting old sux.

My folks are in their mid-seventies, and they're still out cutting wood. Just have to take it slow, they say. I hope I'm that good in MY mid-seventies.
Sheesh. To my horror my grandmother was still climbing trees at 83. So I had a good example of keeping on whatever your age is. You have to. I’ve found out that it makes it a whole lot more difficult to get back up if you sit more than twenty minutes. Lol.

I’ve decided that any pain I have will be there until one of us leaves and I have no intention of leaving. So the mess might as well move on. (Cough.)
