Six ambulances have surrounded a plane this morning at McCarran International Airport amid reports that a passenger on a Delta flight from New York is showing symptoms similar to Ebola, according to NBC3 local news.

Delta Airlines Flight 404 at Terminal 1, Gate D40 is the focus of the medical response.

UMC officials say they have been placed on stand-by to receive patients.

Currently on a plane stuck on a Las Vegas tarmac that flew out of JFK. They won't let us off the plane because of an ebola scare.

Two sick passengers, woman and child, came from Africa and have a fever. They aren't from a country in Africa with an outbreak though.

Passengers not showing any other symptoms other than the fever. CDC is now on the scene.

And so it begins, one plane at a time, one or two patients at a time, one city at a time. Whether these people really have Ebola or not, the system cost is staggering. It costs hundreds of dollars to deploy ONE ambulance for one single trip. It costs THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS for one visit to the ER, before any type of treatment is offered.

Yep, we are going to spend our health care system into a financial crisis from these potential Ebola responses. I count medical people deployed in Dallas, Oklahoma City, Birmingham, that I know about. Each deployment costs thousands of dollars to the medical system. Maybe we should start tracking all these medical deployments where somebody "may" have Ebola. If we keep doing this for the next few months, it is going to cause hysteria and financial hardship on already struggling local governments.

The fact they sent SIX ambulances means you are dealing with several people potentially exposed to Ebola. It has been well documented from airline passengers exposed to one person with TB, you need to deal with an infection zone. The primary zone is anybody who sat within four rows of the infected person. The secondary zone is anybody who sat on the plane at all. Airlines recirculate the air between four and seven times per hour, depending on how much cost/fuel they want to use.

Plane temporarily quarantined in Las Vegas because of sick passenger

By Joyce Lupiani. CREATED 12:29 PM

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- According to officials at McCarran International Airport, a Delta flight from New York was quarantined this morning as a precaution.

Delta Flight #495 from John F. Kennedy Airport landed at McCarran International Airport at about 10:55 a.m. Friday.

The plane was quarantined because it was reported that a passenger on the plane had recently traveled in Africa and had vomited on the airplane.

Clark County Fire Department, the Centers for Disease Control and the Southern Nevada Health District have responded.

After a thorough assessment, it has been determined that the affected passenger does not meet the criteria for Ebola.

So the passenger is vomiting and has a fever, and it's just dismissed? They do not even test any more, just wave the magic wand and they do not have it.

Las Vegas Reports (who knows how accurate though) show:
1. From Africa
2. Fever
3. Vomit on plane

But, nothing here--move along. :sht::sht::sht::sht::sht::sht:

My brother in law is working at that airport today. Just left a message for my sister. Hubby is medic/firefighter in Vegas so I am not thrilled regarding this crap.

When the backlash finally sets in, it is going to be unbelievable.

Watch what happens when individual states and cities act independently of the CDC/Feds.

All it will take is one or two people getting past the "thorough assessments" and all heck is going to break loose.

Instead halting travel in, making difficult for possible #ebola carriers to enter, now Americans on our soil will be kept on planes #madness

RB, there is a government method where you hold a press conference, and look like you are doing something, without actually doing anything. The entire federal and CDC response to Ebola is one of looking like you are doing something without actually doing anything.

If you wanted to do something about Ebola getting to the USA, you would ban air travel from Africa. If you want to look like you are doing something, without doing anything, you would announce "thorough assessments" and "health care screening" will be done on incoming passengers. Obviously, none of these new policies will do anything to prevent an Ebola infected person from getting to the USA. Duncan did not, repeat did not, show any symptoms until after he got to Dallas. The newly announced methods would not have detected him.

The populist backlash against Obama and the Democrats is going to be brutal and severe. The fact the powers that be refuse to ban flights will mean other Ebola infected people are going to slip through the so called "net." Obama is a PC moron who is going to get Americans killed from Ebola. He will eventually pay the political and legal price for that, but not until Americans have died from his stupid, PC policies.

AT THIS POINT IN TIME (meaning, if/when we get several cases "in the wild" in North America or Europe, this won't be valid) *as long as the patient can PROVE* they haven't been anywhere near West Africa or the Congo*, it is entirely acceptable to eliminate Ebola from consideration in a patient with those symptoms.

Fever and vomiting are common signs in almost all bacterial food poisoning, as well as Norwalk virus, and aren't unknown in influenza and other common viruses. It's also entirely possible for a person to be running a fever from a mild illness, and *also* to become airsick- hence the vomiting.

And it's also very common for vomiting to be "contagious"... I'll guarantee you, someone pukes in front of me, and I get a good whiff along with the sight and sounds... and I WILL join them. In fact, when our kids were ill, hubby became the designated "clean up" person, because he quickly learned that if I were to start cleaning up, there soon would be a much larger mess to clean up.

Now, if they are dismissing Ebola in people who HAVE been in West Africa, on the basis of them claiming that they "haven't touched anyone with Ebola or attended a funeral"... I'll scream right along with everyone else here.

But as Doomer Doug points out, responding to every case of fever, vomiting, stomach pain, etc on every plane that lands in the US with a full HazMat response is going to get incredibly expensive in one heck of a hurry.

Report: Plane isolated in Las Vegas after Ebola concerns, all clear given

By KTAR.com, | October 10, 2014 @ 12:35 pm

PHOENIX -- Authorities in Las Vegas reportedly isolated a plane at McCarran International Airport on Friday after a passenger complaint prompted an Ebola concern.

Passenger on the flight, Frank Esposito and Sasha Sabapathy, were giving play by play accounts of the situation on their Twitter accounts.

They said the Delta Airlines flight from New York City to Las Vegas was detained after two passengers said they were feeling ill.

After nearly two hours passengers were allowed off the plane and all was cleared.

We are being allowed off the plane and there's no follow up necessary with the CDC. Patients DID NOT have an infectious disease.
— Frank Esposito (@FBEsposito) October 10, 2014

Sasha had made everyone aware in the time leading up to being given the OK to get off the plane.

Ok so @Delta just told us the sick person just came from Africa. This is def an Ebola scare. No one will say Ebola tho it's like Voldermort
— Sasha Sabapathy (@sashasab) October 10, 2014

Now it's two people from Africa who have fevers. No one knows if they have Ebola and we have to stay on this infected plane. Cheers @Delta
— Sasha Sabapathy (@sashasab) October 10, 2014

Sabapathy said authorities were on the scene, but passengers were not kept well-informed.

CDC is refusing to make any decisions as to what happens with us or the two sick people. We are getting regular updates of "No new news".
— Sasha Sabapathy (@sashasab) October 10, 2014

She said she was on the plane with her boss, Frank Esposito, who was also keeping the Internet posted on the situation.

Pilot said screening for the 2 patients was "encouraging" and it doesn't seem like it's an ebola case. CDC doesn't know what to do with us.
— Frank Esposito (@FBEsposito) October 10, 2014

Based on Sabapathy's tweets, the plane was detained more than an hour.

Just like terrorist attacks inside the US are reported as anything and everything but, all of these cases will be "false alarms" and something other than ebola, until the numbers are too high to hide anymore. By that time, it'll be far too late to have any hope of keeping it under control.

How is a Level 4 pathogen different than a bomb?

If there was a bomb scare, would they force the passengers to sit in their seats,
till the bomb squad gave the all clear?

NO, they would evacuate them as quickly as possible off the plane.

Same here in Southern Missouri, we can dig in for the long haul, whether it's a year long epidemic, of an end of civilization, we've got Bibles, Beans and Bullets. But no firearms, thanks to that canoeing accident...
