Penzey’s Spices CEO: Trump Voters Must Be Punished for “Committing Biggest Act of Racism”

The CEO of Penzey’s Spices is the latest corporate leader to lash out at Trump voters.

Last Tuesday CEO Bill Penzey Jr. lashed out at Republicans in his weekly email:
The open embrace of racism by the Republican Party in this election is now unleashing a wave of ugliness unseen in this country for decades. The American people are taking notice. Let’s commit to giving the people a better choice. Our kindness really is our strength.
penzeys-trump-racism-575x333.jpg

But after Donald Trump’s historic victory Penzey Jr. UNLOADED on Republicans and Trump voters.

Jim Pensley says Trump supporters voted for an “openly racist candidate.” These voters now must be punished and ridiculed. Pensey then accused Trump supporters of committing the biggest act of racism in in American history since Wallace stood in the schoolhouse doorway 53 years ago.

From Pensey’s Spices weekly email:
You just voted for an openly racist candidate for the presidency of the United States of America. In your defense, most of you did so without thinking of the consequences of your candidate’s racism, because for most of you the heartbreaking destruction racism causes has never been anything you or your loved ones have had to experience. But the thing is elections have their consequences. This is no longer sixty years ago. Whether any of us like it or not, for the next four years the 80% of this country who did not just vote for an openly racist candidate are going to treat you like you are the kind of person who would vote for an openly racist candidate.
You can get angry at everyone else for treating you like you just did the thing you just did, or you can take responsibility for your actions and begin to make amends. If you are lucky and younger family members are still coming over for Thanksgiving, before it’s too late, take a moment and honestly think about how your actions must look through their eyes. Simply saying “I never thought he’d win” might be enough. But if you have the means, leaving a receipt from a sizable donation to the ACLU or the SPLC accidentally laying around where you carve the turkey, might go over even better.
Or, just do what you do best and volunteer. Through our customers’ support, we’ve given away a lot of our Penzeys Pepper, the Pepper with heart. More often than not, those we meet cooking and serving food to feed those in need are Republicans. You really are a good bunch, but you just committed the biggest act of racism in American history since Wallace stood in the schoolhouse doorway 53 years ago. Make this right. Take ownership for what you have done and begin the pathway forward.
Thanks for reading,

Yo, Bill, you're walking on a two-way street. You're standing with Geo Soros and others who are tearing this country apart without thinking about the consequences because you got your feelings hurt...well, how 'bout "we, the Trump voters" vote one more time to NOT spend any money in your direction? Hmmm? How's that sound?

Gosh, since the election, they're just coming out of the woodwork. I knew they were everywhere but I didn't know they were EVERYWHERE!!! And if anyone here found a donation receipt laying around to SPLC, I'd be kicked out of the house and eating Thanksgiving with the dogs!!!!

Another clueless progressive. I get the sense that these folks have never seen full blown real racism before. I could be wrong about that, but some how, I think I am on the money. I would suggest a visit to your local urban black area, if one is even near him.

I'm thinking a couple things here........

1) People who are most open to the idea of multiculturalism as a strength in Western/European societies tend to be those who are least likely to have been exposed to any of that on a first hand daily basis........aka elite and upper class liberals who praise such mixing but never in their neighborhood or as social/active members at their country clubs............

2) if you want to make a political stand against "racism" targeted against the America who voted for Trump I hope your company is a producer of soul foods........

Are they the same as McCormick?? I tried looking it up but couldn't really get a definitive answer.

I've never heard of them and they are right in St. Louis.
I stopped paying high prices for spices when I discovered bulk spices on Ebay!!

It's amazing how the biggest racist of all (Hillary) points her finger at Trump and calls him a racist and all dems believe it when it's been proven time and time again that Trump is not a racist. Neither are the majority of his followers. If there are any racist Trump followers, they are keeping it to themselves because Trump followers are adults. Hillary and the rest of the dems are children in adult bodies.

One thing about it, these liberal CEO's sure do make crappy capitalist's. I see a downturn in his profits soon.

that is the only way to punish people who make these offensive comments and that is with your $$$$$.

Walk away, don't go back. There are a number of companies I now, will not do business with because of their hostile attitude toward who I am.

I don't give a s*** if Trump is a racist.

The term has lost its ability to incite fear in anyone with a shred of common sense and any experience in the real world.

I'd rather be called a racist than a Democrat.

re this:

leaving a receipt from a sizable donation to the ACLU or the SPLC accidentally laying around where you carve the turkey, might go over even better.

Penzeys Pepper, the Pepper with heart

I'll do better than that ^^^.

Anyone at a table at which I eat who speaks positively of the ACLU or the SPLC will find themselves looking at my a** as I leave the table and the house in which it resides.

Furthermore....

If I am shopping at any market and come upon a display of Penzey's products I will notify the closest employee that they are welcome to place the products in my basket back on the shelves as I am leaving the premises and will not return until the Penzey's products are no longer in the store.

Silly s*** deserves silly s*** in return.

F'em.

F'em all.

Millright - I used to buy bulk herbs/spices from a place in central Va; give me a day or so for the memory to retrieve the name of the place and see if it's still in existence.

^^^This

And I will be sure that I never purchase anything from them.

Penzey says only 20% of Americans support Trump.

For a CEO, this guy evidently does not excel in math.

I bet he's ASSuming that every American outside of the 60 million that voted for Trump are against him. That would include those to young to vote and those that don't vote at all, along with the 60 million that did vote for HRC. When looking at statistics from liberals you really have to think illogically to understand them.

Penzey’s Spices CEO: Trump Voters Must Be Punished for “Committing Biggest Act of Racism”

Congratulations numbnuts. You just alienated half of your customer base. I hope everyone emails that guy to let him know if you voted for Trump that a) your not a racist and b) you will never, ever spend a single dime with his company until he openly retracts such a 'divisive' statement. I will do so as soon as this is posted.

Edit;

Email I sent this dolt;

Mr Penzey;

Congratulations for alienating half of your customer base with your reckless and divisive comments about those who voted for Mr. Trump. I voted for Mr. Trump and I am not a racist and neither is Mr. Trump I believe as he has given leadership positions to minorities and those of other races in his organization not to mention that he has several family members who are Jewish.

You are of course completely entitled to your opinions as I am mine. But I will never, ever again spend a single dime with your company when you denigrate me without knowing anything about me. Your destroying your business model with your reckless and feckless comments and I will only do business with those who appreciate doing business with me.

Apparently he's gotten a lot of email. And now he's trying to reel it back. In part:

"Since I ask you to read my emails, I feel it's only right that I read each of your replies. In sifting through those replies it was clear that, though not intended, a good number of people seemed to sincerely believe that in my statement I was calling all Republicans racists. In the emails of those Republicans who voted for someone other than the party's nominee, I sensed genuine pain at having the strength of character to not go along with what was happening, but nonetheless be grouped in with those who were. I apologize for writing something that caused you pain; that is not the person I want to be. You are your party's future, and you deserve my admiration and respect, and your country's as well."

I suspect I'll be calling them and telling them that I thought we were buying spices and not politics. And our relationship is now ended.

Oh, right. Not ALL Republicans are racists, just the ones that voted for Trump. Using this same "guilt by association" mindset, all Hillary voters should be in prison.

It's fun watching all the CEOs commiting corporate suicide.

Where does all this Trump is a racist stuff come from? That we shouldn't be letting unvetted Muslims from terrorist hotspots into the US without first figuring out how to properly vet them? By taking a stand against criminal illegals coming into the country? Neither stance is even remotely racist.

This unhinged jerk who does not deserve to have a viable business alienated more than half of his customer base. Most blacks don't cook from scratch, and the hispanics tend to buy from their local markets.

He will be lucky if his sales dive by only 25 per cent over the next year. I will never buy from them again, though it has been many years since I have purchased anything from Penzey's.

Otherwise, the more "unveilings" the better.;)

McCormick makes some really nice spice rubs for grilling. I've been known to put the Roasted Garlic and Herb in my soup. And McCormick's CEO doesn't seem to be stupid enough to alienate a large portion of his customer base by demanding karmic bribery.

It's mind blowing the number of supposedly "intelligent" people in all walks of life who have outed themselves as both racist or biased during the election cycle. Including the usual suspects in the media, but also now including purportedly Conservative individuals such as Megyn Kelly, Erick Erickson, Charles Krauthammer, Bill Crystal. Then of course we have the usual RINOS like, John McCain, Lindsey Graham, Paul Ryan. It's fun to see that Corporate America has joined the festivities like the CEO of Pepsi, this Spice guy, the IT Security CEO who was fired, etc.

Well snap, I just read the "About Us" page for the Spice House.

Spice House owner is Penzey's sister!! But I don't see an public evidence of their political leanings, though...... And I detect a hint of sibling discontent and jealousy........ The Spice House was the original Penzey's creation, and the current "Penzy's" spices is an off shoot by a ticked off brother who wanted to buy the business himself??????????

https://www.thespicehouse.com/pages/about

Owners of The Spice House, Tom and Patty Erd, are second generation spice merchants. Their business was founded by Patty's parents, Ruth and Bill Penzey, Sr. in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1957. Patty grew up working in the shop. (To Patty, as a child, it seemed a pretty torturous way to earn an allowance but Patty's perception has vastly changed about the business since she became an owner!)

The senior Penzeys sold the business to their firstborn child and son-in-law in 1992 as they looked toward retirement. The credit for the creation of The Spice House, its principles and its dedication to quality, goes wholeheartedly to Bill and Ruth Penzey.

I received the updates from Penzeys and sent them an email and unsubscribed. Sad day, my husband really liked the shallot pepper, especially on boiled eggs.
