Dr. Divot,
Chuck was correct, I use it all the time. This is the one I use. http://www.dragonsystems.com/products/naturallyspeaking/professional/index.html
After major research it turned out to be the best according to the rehab people and others using it. Takes a bit to get it to truly comprehend you. If you have a very deep and raspy voice like I do expect it to take a lot longer than they say for sure for it to work well. You'll still get some typo's here and there, but manageable. I had DIL help me type in words it just didn't get no matter how many times I told it to correct it. But for the most part it's pretty reliable. Although you really do need to buy the supplemental books at $29 a crack for your personal applications to make it really worth the cash it cost. Also I'm running a 900 MHz Thunderbird with 256k on memory, 60 Gig hard drive and their top of the line sound board. I think it's kinda slow doing some things like archiving, cut/pasting, and a few other things I do on BBS, but I'm also hyperactive and spoiled so.... But most people using this wouldn't be doing these types of things as often as I do. I also find that doing HTML with it is time consuming ... but does work if your clear in your instructions. Takes a few try's for me sometimes, just ask Abbey or Anne
Now they also have a cheaper preferred scaled down version that my Brother in Law uses because he just never learned to type for a heck of lot less and for Email, chat and his Word programs he say it works great. He isn't a former computer consultant and doesn't do the things I use it for. He's doing just the basic's of the Internet and swears it's been a life saver for him. You can go and check it out at some places, they have demo's contact the Dragon Systems people and they'll tell you where, usually a rehab or Computer store in your area they have an agreement with.
If you need more info let me know, this is just kinda the basics of it.
