Bush lost a percentage of the vote in only ONE state in the Union - Vermont. In three states, he stayed the same - North Carolina, Oregon and South Dakota. In -every- other state, his percentage of the vote -grew-. Although New Hampshire swung from red to blue, Kerry achieved this not by pulling votes from Bush, but by pulling votes from NADER!!!

This is -amazing- if true. And what it goes to show is NOT that Bush has "polarized" this country - far from it. To polarize it, he would've turned the blue states bluer, and the red states redder. But that's not what happened. He has in fact moved the -entire- country in the -same- direction. That's not "polarizing", that's leadership! The entire "polarizing president" claim has been demonstrated as the utter and complete myth it always was. Just -damn-! I'm never going to believe ANYTHING the mainstream media says again, -ever-.

this information, if accurate, is a big indication that there is a movement within our country to reject the divisiveness of the Left and to be a united country in the face of terrorism and World Opinion. or maybe it's just conventional wisdom that you don't change leaders in the middle of a world war.

Very interesting. I had to switch networks last night because the major three were so obviously trying to spin every little thing to make Bush look worse. Bet they never point out the above information.

Thanks for taking the time to do this for us. We can no longer count on the MSM for anything vaguely resembling objectivity.

If you will take off your red/blue 3D movie glasses for a moment you'll see that Kerry took 49% of the popular vote.

A mere 2% shift would have put some states over into Kerry's camp and he'd be the one claiming victory.

This red/blue nonsense blinds a lot of folks to the patently obvious that the nation is very close to evenly divided.

i agree Alan that the nation is very close to evenly divided, and deeply divided at that, but as the above tally shows, there is a definite MOVEMENT AWAY from the LEFT.

Being in WV, considered a 'good ole boy', democratic stronghold, 'swing state', I can tell you that the race here was incredible in that long/life time democrats crossed party lines to vote for Bush.

Could have had a lot to do with the duck shoot and guns issue but maybe it is that 'divide' and the ability of many to see it and not fall in.

there is a definite MOVEMENT AWAY from the LEFT.

i'd say there is a definite movement toward safety and security which is promised by the same party that instills fear. we are moving toward the status of an undeveloping country.

TWO percent Jed, a simple two percent shift would have given the victory to Kerry.

That's not much of a definite anything.

All the fearmongering, all the intentional deceit, all the empty promises, all the cheating, and even violence and attempts at intimidation --- and the left still loses.

I have renewed faith in the American people.

And Jed --- many thanks for your initial post.

If the marriage iniatives hadn't been on the ballots in so many states the divide would of seemed even larger.

Yes, in spite of all the left could do, the right still wins! :D

I think a lot of the reason Kerry lost was his record regarding the military and the Vietnam war. I suspect a lot of veterans voted for Bush who might not have if Kerry hadn't been a sort of male Jane Fonda. My stepfather was a Marine who spent three years in 'Nam, and believe me, feelings still run high.

I hope we don have to hear another four years of "we were robbed" sniveling from the left aka socialists.

Good observation, Jed. It does indeed appear significant. No, the mass-disinformation exit polls even tell a different story than your spin, Dave. They swung on moral grounds.

Well said, Phoenix. Let's see if it might be possible to reach their withered souls with that message before the next election in an attempt to modify their UNacceptable conduct. It's a long shot, but well worth it!

Freeholdfarm, I believe you are right about Nam vets. My dh doesn't usually get very excited about politics, thinks, cares, studies, votes but doesn't get excited. He had a visceral reaction to Kerry and his activites in relation to Nam; considered Kerry a traitor, nothing less.

You left Minnesota off your list. I'm not nitpicking--well actually I am, but I'm curious about where MN is, and it wasn't there.

I think one other state is missing too.

Very interesting analysis, though!

Bush got more votes than any other president in the history of the country. Think about it.
