Ah, how I was tempted to post this as "Putin arrested by KGB" in the headline.
There is yet another scandal in St. Petersburg: a deputy
commission headed by Marina Salier demanded the dismissal of
the chairman of the Committee on Foreign Relations of the
Mayor's Office, Vladimir Putin.
A KGB colonel in the past, he did not have authority
from the government, he issued licenses to export abroad for
the sale of oil, timber, non-ferrous and rare earth metals
by barter to dubious and little-known firms, often
created the day before. In addition, in most cases, licenses
were issued in advance - before concluding agreements
with Western partners and without presenting documents on
the availability of goods. And the prices were assigned
dumping - two thousand times lower than the existing ones.
Customs, however, did not allow goods abroad.
The commission is handing over investigation files
to the prosecutor's office and Russia's personnel
department, so Putin may have to answer to his
once-familiar agency for defrauding the city of US$122
million.
