I have a freakton of oatmeal that I need to be used. I was also doing some research for a story. And boom, got an idea for some freeze drying. I'll post my recipes that I'm using to use the oatmeal ... and I am also freeze drying and storing some of the oatmeal for our go-bags or just to use down the road.

This is the first set of recipes:

I don't eat oatmeal; my system doesn't do good with it. I sent the link to my Kathi. Lots of pleased noises from her and later she posted it to FB.

Oatmeal can be thrown in the blender and chopped up and then added to recipes in place of some of the regular flour. I have done this many times. The finished product is a little more moist (at least they seem that way to me).

Oatmeal, walnuts, raisins, a splash of vanilla, and cream or milk in a crockpot on low for a couple hours. Should be steel cut oats. Add cinnamon and a touch of nutmeg for Xtra awesomeness.

You could try soaking it in yogurt overnight and cooking in the morning...makes it much more digestible.
I don't like yogurt, but I do like buttermilk. Oats soaked in buttermilk does not sound appealing. Besides, me not eating oats leaves more for my wife.

I do like boiled rice, both white and brown, for breakfast. I bet a lot of those oat flavors would taste good with boiled rice or barley, I bet the apple walnut would be awesome on brown rice.
