Now is the Time

for all good men and women to unite, and form a strong third party that would represent the moderate, middle-ground.

It would be pretty easy to garner support now from both dems/repubs, who are unhappy with their respective party, and all the independents who really haven't had a solid party platform yet. No time to waste, perhaps in four years, votes will matter when there are three parties, and perhaps the country's course can be corrected.

Facists, religious zealots, radical leftwingers need not apply.

F. Drew,
It looked like a third party might have been viable when Ross Perot ran and for a while he had a slight shot. I think you have to have the one person of stature that people feel actually has a chance of winning and not a protest vote. Good idea and yep the time is now.. Texian

All we need is a person of sufficient stature and prestige who has two neurons to rub together and who is also deeply into self-abuse and we're all set.

Any suggestions?

.....Alan.

I agree, F. Drew. I was thinking of this last night.

How do we start?

The Internet - following Howard Dean's model (or moveon.org), both in terms of exposure and financing. The first step would be to form an organization, to garner support, then a leader would emerge.

My sister and I were talking about this last night. I was wondering how to start too.

What should we call it? I was thinking "The Common Sense Party" .

I guess you'll have to count me out. I think I'm a 'religious zealot', since I'm a Bible-believing Christian. :D

The idea does have some merit, but how are you going to get enough people to agree on anything to make it happen? I would sure like to at least see some of the third parties get stronger and more able to influence the character of the major parties. That in itself might make enough of a difference. But also, it is really important for people to learn to disagree civilly, instead of calling each other nasty names. The sad part is, some of the people using those names actually believe what they are saying. :shk:

I think the trend to the left could be arrested if the public education system either was taken out of NEA control, or more people removed their children from it. They deliberately took over our education system as the first step in taking over the country -- it's time we took it back. :dvl1:

F. Drew, there are many small political parties in America. Perhaps instead of forming a new one, people could find one that already exists and work at the grassroots level at growing it. The problem is time, it would take a lot of time. The Libertarians understand this, and have incredible patience, it might eventually pay off.

LOL

Bush/Repubs are religious zealots?

Hehe.
Well, I'm out then.
I think Bush/Repubs are not conservative enough.
Guess I'm on my own.
:p
