Campers New to me pop up - maybe

So I'm going to temporarily ignore the scary stuff from today and instead focus on the surprising good news.
Barring something crazy, I'm being given a pop up camper so I can take my son camping again. While it's old and a simple model, the roof and canvas are good. Actually, it all looks good from the photos a friend took but I'm good as long as the roof, canvas, supports, are good. I can make the interior work.
And I've come to realize just how much I miss camping, even if it is just a small spot away in the back and we never leave the campsite. I'm going to have to find some campgrounds that don't pack folks in like sardines. Honestly, I'm silly giddy at the idea of being able to do my favorite "escape" again. Even if I do still have to make some mods so my son will be safe. I can't wait for that first night of sleep with nature being only a tent wall away. I can't wait for it for my son either because camping always calmed him for weeks.

no matter what the guy says, pull the wheels and repack the wheel bearings, setting for a long time can mess them up, and grease is cheap.
With my current health issues, that will be pull it around the corner to the mechanic and ask him to do it. But definitely noted, thanks for the heads up.

They say things come in 3's. So I'm next.. I want my free camper!!

Congrats, have lots of fun with it!
This just came out of the blue. And it just dovetails with some other things that the quiet voice has been prompting me to do. The bonus is that to be able to use it in an emergency scenarios, I have to practice with it. So I get to go have fun camping in it and hope that we manage to avoid any emergency scenarios.
We camped in one of these a lot when I was a kid. And I remember a lot of the basic needs. And interestingly enough, I have a lot of them on hand. I did have to laugh though because the same friend asked my why I didn't pack my cast iron in my emergency kit and I responded because it was too heavy unless I had a camper. Which is what prompted him to kind of poke around and see if he could find me one.

We had a tent trailer for many years. I bought it mainly for hunting but we used it for family camping many times. It was great.
I like them when I am hunting because I can drag them waaay back on the two-track roads.
