Never did a man so meager exalt himself so greatly...

Devastating article by Charles Krauthammer, who successfully highlights the engima that is Barack Hussein Muhammad Obama...a candidate of minimal competence and even less achievement, who nonetheless considers himself to already dwell in the pantheon of history's greatest figures.

An excerpt:

Charles Krauthammer said:
Americans are beginning to notice Obama's elevated opinion of himself. There's nothing new about narcissism in politics. Every senator looks in the mirror and sees a president. Nonetheless, has there ever been a presidential nominee with a wider gap between his estimation of himself and the sum total of his lifetime achievements?

Obama is a three-year senator without a single important legislative achievement to his name, a former Illinois state senator who voted "present" nearly 130 times. As president of the Harvard Law Review, as law professor and as legislator, has he ever produced a single notable piece of scholarship? Written a single memorable article? His most memorable work is a biography of his favorite subject: himself.

It is a subject upon which he can dilate effortlessly. In his victory speech upon winning the nomination, Obama declared it a great turning point in history -- "generations from now we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment" -- when, among other wonders, "the rise of the oceans began to slow." As economist Irwin Stelzer noted in his London Daily Telegraph column, "Moses made the waters recede, but he had help." Obama apparently works alone.

O.H.--many thanks for posting this.

Charles K. is a gifted writer ... perhaps almost as gifted as Obama is an orator. Nope--Obama hasn't produced anything of value other than self-promotional wonders. But his speeches intoxicate.

I hesitate to say this publicly, but here 'tis ...

For those of us who are aware of and cautious about such things, Obama is scary-good in working a crowd, in mesmerizing an audience, in making love to the camera, etc. In a word, charismatic to the nth degree. Name another pol historically who approaches his level of instant mass appeal. (Fact is, Obama is now already running a global campaign.)

I'll name one--Adolf Hitler. I speak of Hitler's ability to transform an audience into his own. To change them. To cause them to overlook their own values and judgments and win them over to his own ultimately evil causes.

Many called Hitler an anti-Christ. The mindless Obama wave has me wondering about our own point in time and what seems to be happening.

As Charles points out: "... in the words of his own slogan, 'we are the ones we've been waiting for,' which, translating the royal 'we,' means: 'I am the one we've been waiting for.'"

To those who are watchful, I suggest being on your toes.

I can think of at least one salient difference between Sen. Obama and Adolf Hitler.

Ol' Adolf never really needed a teleprompter, and didn't stumble over his verbal feet without one. :lkick:

Well, all it took El Shrubbo was a term as governor of Texas (where he did his typically crappy job) and a daddy who was a former president to get elected....

Okay, I'll say it...the fix is in! Obama will be the next president of these United States whether you/I/we, want him or not. TPTB have annointed him...the mainstream media are falling all over themselves over him, and it matters not one whit, what you or I think! :shr:

He has been groomed for the position, and is merely a figurehead for TPTB...to further their agenda.

Of course, Mc Cain is also 'their man'...and if public sentiment just so happened to swing his direction, he would implement their agenda...as well.

I'm sorry to say it...but that's the way it is!

Actually, Fruit Loop, Gov Bush was unusually popular on both sides of the aisle and was overwhelmingly elected for a second term. But then this thread's not really about him. Is it.

I am in total agreement. No matter who gets in they are all working for the same entity. Some call it a shadow government. And it is definitely a hidden elite that has their puppets they control and fulfill their agendas.

Call it what you will. I tend to lean toward the term, "the dark forces". One of their tricks is to get you to choose and fight over who's better or worse. But the jokes on us. They are all the same and the results will be the same no matter who's elected.

Amazing how many just cannot see this game.

Read my sig.

Will it matter? Probably not. I just cannot see me voting for either major party crony.

I would ruin the voting machine when I threw up if I voted for O or M.

I don't even want to type out their names.

El Shrubbo was popular because half the stupid rednecks down here thought they were voting for his daddy.

I had to work for him in Texas. He was an asshole then, and he's a bigger asshole now.

Oh, and he WASN'T "tremendously popular" after the first term.....remember the numbers? It was really close. SOME people had started to wake up by then.

(Skewer the great Fruit Loop? Get a broadsword instead of a pin if you're going to try that)

The ego is what's scary, when you get down to it--the, "I'm so far above you mere humans that I can not only tell you what to do, I can make you do it and make you like it" attitude.

And the hypocrisy: you need to be bilingual (but not me); you need to make sacrifices (but not me), etc. ad infinitum, ad nauseam.

Heaven help us.

And when Krauthammer talks about Obama's narcissism, etc. his background in psychiatry gives him a bit more credibility than other writers may have.

(BTW, I generally like Krauthammer's work---I first discovered him because it turns out I went to the same high school as his wife.)

Good article but people are too mesmerized to see the facts and I shudder to see what "change" he is going to make. I hope it's not what I'm just now beginning to think.....

His wife assures us that President Obama will be a stern taskmaster: "Barack Obama will require you to work. He is going to demand that you shed your cynicism ... that you come out of your isolation. ... Barack will never allow you to go back to your lives as usual, uninvolved, uninformed."

How inspirational. Aside from the other fluff words, it's the "taskmaster" that I worry about. Could it be a Freudian slip to an intention for role reversal or retribution plan?

The very best description I have seen of obama (with one exception) is that of a post turtle. That exception is obama is dangerous, very dangerous.

The situation is actually much more dire than having him imposed on us by TPTB .... the poorly educated American people have actually come up with Barack, Hillary, and whats-his-name as the only contenders for the crown of Most Important Public Figure in the World. We have ... they have .... voted for them.

do you think Obama is the antichrist

He may well be worse. Gerald Warner of Scotsman.com makes a convincing case that Obama is another Jimmy Carter. He correctly observes that Obama has ambition and a horrendously inflated ego, but very little else.

The Linked Article said:
YES, folks, it's déjà vu all over again. That charismatic American politician Jimmy Carter II, aka Barack Obama, is carrying all before him – at least in Europe – riding a tsunami of media-driven hysteria. When you are possessed of unlimited reserves of rhetoric, boundless ambition, an increasingly undisciplined ego and – er – not a lot else, the soap-box becomes addictive.

Aye lad, I'm with ye! My brothers in the Lodge and I were talkin' one day about the election and try as I might they couldn't understand that I would be voting against both McCain and Obama.

They were tellin' me things like, "If you don't vote for McCain you're throwing your vote away; you're helping Obama." They still think with two-party mindsets.

Oh well.

Even in a purely practical sense, voting for a third party candidate gives that person more recognition and funding for the next election.
