Had 8 participants that made it through to 'net control' on the first edition of the 'oldskool net'. We need to obviously work through some issues such as date, time and what band. Really NEED to get a competent net controller! LOL If you logged in, plz pm your name and call so I can put a 'computer face' with call signs. I apologize to all that tried to check in but were unable to be heard. Posts any comments, suggestion, or to just throw a tomato at me! MOD'S.....feel free to move or close this thread if it is tieing up bandwidth on the main !

a few thoughts . . . first of all you did a stellar job and the name "oldskool net" was a great idea. 40 was in much better shape earlier this morning - it got a noisy as the day went on.

lots of guys simply get together for regular rag chews. belonged to one group who would meet on 40 and move to 17 after a bit. typically they met at 1300hrs EST cpl of times a week - just a gathering and not a formal net - thus NO NET CONTROL required. less stress - more fun

lets say we have "old skool ragchew" - very informal -announce it here. meets at XYZ time on what ever freq. we can tell each other who we are and match a name to a TB handle - i.e KW** - Dennis aka RM. it goes on and anyone can join in if they care to

weekends are typically bad business becasue of contesters and qso parties. thats one of the beautiful things about 17 - but any band - especially 40 given the presumed nationwide interest of our group - would be great in the afternoon on weekdays.

just some thots

enjoyed it very much - good to talk with you and Randy - but missed Nowski and Henry as well as a few others who apparently wanted to get in but either couldn't make the trip or were covered up by the weekend crowd :(
lets do it again

OUTSTANDING IDEAS ! I agree. I check into a couple of 2 meter nets during the week, but do not want to be ' net controller' ! All that are like minded can post their thoughts and ideas. I really enjoyed it! De, KO4GGR

one other thot - we could start a PM "chain letter" and use that as well as a posting on the board to notify any who may be interested in joining when and where we'll be. its easy to miss a thread but that flag showing you have a PM is hard to miss

I have a radio check in on Sunday evenings with the people in my area; sponsored through the LDS church. That is at 8 p.m. PST. Please be sure to post the date as well as the times if it will be PST, CST or EST. I hate having to count on my fingers if it is EST and I'm in PST area; I always manage to screw up. LOL. Can a 'check-in' be done during the week, when people will be home??? Thanks
