My Lavender Lilac Bush Bloomed Stark White this Year

So I posted about this on facebook when I noticed this this past Sunday and I got a ton of responses from people saying that their lilac bushes had also bloomed stark white this year, and several of these people have the darker purple varieties planted. One person even said that her Forsythia bushes bloomed a stark white color instead of the typical white color.

So now I'm left wondering is this due to the diminishing of the Sun's rays?

It's going to be an interesting summer to see what happens to the plants, I noticed that the leaves on all of the trees, we're just starting to get leaves, are less green and more yellow this spring.

One friend has orange trees in her yard, lives down south someplace, and she said they look and smell divine, and when you cut one open it's all dried up inside.

Curious to see what's happening in your gardens this spring.

currently we've got the most incredible locust bloom I've ever seen in 30 yrs here in WNC . . .

ETA: Raggedyann has a small Lilac about 6' that also bloomed white this year - but unlike previous years, without many blossoms

Mine is loaded with blossoms this year which is not normal for this particular bush and the blossoms are smaller than normal as well.

Normally I'd contemplate whether the soil at the base of the bush needed to be amended, which is never a bad idea, but with so many people commenting that their blossoms are white this year now I'm wondering what's really going on.

Oh I know, it's manmade climate change! :xpnd:
