WTF?!? MY BANK ACCOUNTS ARE *GONE*

Just read an account of Wells Fargo's ops immediately after San Francisco quake and fire. They had no records, so took patrons' word on how much was in accounts as they came in to get cash. Their total loss was in the order of $200 total. People were more honest in those days.

Thanks for the info Dennis. I switched my primary bank account to a credit union a year ago(BECU) and actually earned about $55 in interest over a one-year period.

I just found GESA Credit Union and they are offering 7% on checking. I'll have to jump thru a couple hoops to get that rate, but I'm done with banks now. If I can keep the balance around 5k, I should make $350 interest in a year.

I use USAA for car insurance but I hate their website and their app so no banking.

I use Navy Federal Credit Union for banking they have a much much smoother user experience, web and app.
Then there is the local bank, they aren't too bad either.

A cashless society will work just fine, I'm sure.

I used my debit card at the gas pump the other day. I accidentally hit the diesel button because I'm old and stupid now days. I put the handle down and went inside to tell the clerk to cancel the transaction and give me $20 on my card as credit which went right through as completed on my online statement. She did, but now there is a $150 charge pending on my card that is not going away. This has happened before on a canceled charge, and the card company says it will automatically go away in 7 days. Nothing I can do about it, and my $150 is tied up until then.

IT IS VERY RUDE TO YELL IN THE TITLE.

Especially since you knew they were not gone.

I agree. Plus it's a total clickbait title. Using *GONE* in the title amplifies it, to make people think the accounts are actually gone. Since you knew they weren't actually hacked/stolen/etc. you should have used "GONE" (the way people use air quotes).

;)

I only have $1,000 in any of my bank accounts once in awhile. Usually it is around $500 to $600 if I need more I will deposit it.

Oh yeah, I would have felt about the same. And had a few pieces of someone. That would have actually warranted me showing up at the bank and demanding cash in hand. Not that I don't have cash on hand, but I tend to get a bit itchy when people try to tell me that my money is "lost" because their systems are down.

But truthfully, I've been seeing a whole lot of internet issues since the massive cell phone outage a few weeks ago.
I have too. adobe acrobat lost its mind for a while too at that time frame.

I know a lot of you here like your tech but personally I am pretty fed up with it.
I remember the days before tech. I could fix my vehicle with a standard tool set and my bank account was managed in the ledger in my check book. I always knew to the penny what I had. Cash was so much better. So much simpler less stress. At least for me it was back then.
Every time something goes wrong now, or I get hacked I am “Oh FFS, WTF now”

Pretty sure any telemarketer that has the bad luck of finally getting me to answer a call sure wish they hadnt by the time I get through belittling them as scammers and general turd skids on the toilet of society.

Now I have a Experian Account to monitor my SS number, and keep my credit locked.

Not long ago I was notified by the IRS that someone had used my SS number to get a job with.

After Experian ran a scan I found it was Jesus trying to get a job in Texas with my SS number. Well that would dandy if Jesus needed a job but turns out it wasnt the Jesus I know. This one’s last name was Versalias.

My Son started getting Obama Care tax forms from Echo Construction, showing he had health insurance for the year with them. Problem is, he never worked for Echo Construction before. He had applied to work for them, more than once, but never got a call from them. I told him some Messacan probably got hired on using his S.S. number. His S.S. number was on the form. I said the good news is he might get work earnings credits on his Social Security account.

Just projecting what the real powers to be are actually building.

At some point it will come down to barter. I’ll give you 3 dozen eggs for five pounds of potatoes kind of stuff completely behind the scene and hidden of course.
And totally taxable and "regulated" sarc/off

Funny thing is I have had several clients have this happen this year so far.

Never applied, but have it for a month or two.

I was betting on the people who get bonuses for signing people up were the cause..... then again maybe not
