I could handle this better if there weren't EQ kicking up in the New Madrid area, and something in the back o' my mind wasn't whispering the reminder that Edgar Cayce always alleged that the dramatic earth changes were going to be predicated by Mount Etna activity ::: gives the o heck, why not, right, our plates were overflowing already :: look and wanders off :whistle:

For the people living around Etna, having it spew the way it is currently expelling gasses and lava is much better than the alternative. This will prevent an explosive eruption, at least in the short run. If there are any earthquakes strong enough to seal the lava chamber long enough for pressure to build up though...that could be bad
