BREAKING REPORT: CDC Suggests Gay, Bi Men Take ‘Temporary Break’ From Sex to Curb Monkeypox Spread..

I’m old enough to remember that CDC never suggested anything during Covid but IMPOSED restrictions on people to go to funerals, get together with family members or to visit loved ones in the hospitals or nursing homes.

Idaho? They show seven cases! And Michigan has only 70!
I have no idea! But the Twitter person gave the link to check
It’s definitely very strange!
Sometimes though, I feel bad sharing things as an “amateur “ that a professional might look at and interpret as totally different.

But we’re all trying to figure out this mess best way we can.

Yeah, SEVEN cases and it is in the wastewater, so where are all the other people? Asymptomatic? There are a lot of California people moving here and huge amounts from other states and travelers from Canada, but are they covered in moneypox spots and going to the hospital? Big gay parade thing here weeks ago and several months ago a big story about SYPHILIS outbreak in Idaho and then later I read there is a connection with monkeypox and mistaken diagnosis with the 2.

When it gets close to each of us, however you define close, you will have to decide how to pare your public contact down.

Close for me was having a little boy hold his pox-looking little arm up for female sympathy at Walmart. We now have two cases within minutes from me, not necessarily that little boy.

I've already decided that I'm going to continue working. Maybe we'll go remote as we did last time.

Hey, I skipped working at the State Fair for a second year in a row. I miss the income, but I don't miss the potential exposure to crud and the daily backaches. I think I'm getting too old for that job, anyway.

We're not ready to block the driveway, yet, but we are limiting going into the big city, unless it's an absolute emergency. I'm still more concerned with catching COVID or the flu again than I am MP. That could always change given enough time.
Same here.
We both have to work. Unless told otherwise.
But we did cancel all fun things planned for this summer anyway. Between finances and the creeping crud going around, we had to make a choice.

People who DO have the luxury to decide to stay home, or not, are lucky.

***im thinking about taking us out to dinner soon. I really miss a once a month night out. We love a good restaurant, date night.
sigh….but, also bills to pay.

Would love to get your opinion on a strategy that I use when doing things like working with raw chicken. I am wondering if it might be useful for dealing with objects during the Monkeypox pandemic. I call it the "dirty hand, clean hand" strategy. There are many things you can do with one hand (although some are more difficult). Although, obviously not everything can be. But basically, the dirty hand touches the chicken and anything that is "dirty", and the clean hand touches everything else like the fridge door as an example. This limits the number of times I need to wash hands while preparing food and makes clean up easier.

[I know you know this, but stating the obvious for anyone that may not]: Because with Monkeypox at the gas station (as a simple example), once the gloves touch the pump handle the gloves are "dirty" and will transmit the disease to anything the gloves touch, such as a credit card, cell phone, the car door handle, etc.

I have yet to practice it, and I can tell you it takes practice to get it right without making errors.

Since you use the gloves at work pretty regularly, do you think the "dirty hand, clean hand" strategy might be effective while out in public doing basic every day tasks?
This works well in the muslim world.... the left is for wiping and touching infidels....

Cary and I both have serious health conditions that cause us to have to see several different specialists every couple of months. There's no way we can just lock ourselves down completely. All of our doctors are in the city. That doesn't mean we have to shop there, though. We are already living like hermits, anyway, so staying home isn't a big deal for us. There's plenty to do right here at home to keep us busy.

Helen, I might be wrong, but didn’t you say something like the Internet would be taken off-line at the same time that monkey pox made an appearance? Thanks

Sorry about the health concerns.

I asked a friend in healthcare what the scoop was on Monkey Pox, he said "Don't put strange dick up your butt and you should be ok". MSM largely ignores that point
I have had the same experience with people in the medical field. They are woefully unprepared for what's coming, short sighted and can't wrap their heads around what this variant of the disease is.

I had a family member go to our dermatologist recently. The Dr. was asked his opinion on MP.

He was dismissive because "we weren't part of the group at risk".
