MNKYPOX Monkeypox - Consolidated Thread.

I posted a 1960's study of a smallpox outbreak in Norway (?) somewhere on this board. There were infections in vaccinated people with both very remote vaccination dates and some fairly recent ones.

Monkeypox in Africa tended to be clustered among people too young to have been vaccinated for smallpox, which may have indicated some residual immunity.

Asymptomatic cases are popping up, so there is a possibility some people are immunized naturally without knowing it.

It's a crapshoot. My Fire Island vectors have not given me pox. I am mildly disappointed.

It's quite peculiar that you are encouraged by a conclusion that is purely a figment of your imagination.

Your bias concerning continuing smallpox vaccine efficacy is noted.

And many genuine experts disagree with your assessment.

Perhaps you'd like to address the conclusions from the small study and the guidance found in the July 25,2022 piece from UCLA rather than deflect and reference an obscure CDC quote from 2015.

From post 4351

Results:
Vaccinated participants maintained antivaccinia IgG and neutralizing antibody titers above 3 natural logs essentially indefinitely. The absolute titer of antivaccinia antibody was only slightly higher after multiple vaccinations. In 97% of the participants, no decrease in vaccinia-specific antibody titers was noted with age over a follow-up period of up to 88 years. Moreover, Baltimore Longitudinal Study of Aging participants who survived active smallpox infections in their youth retained antivaccinia antibody titers that were similar to the levels detected in vaccinated subjects.

Conclusion: These data suggest that multiple or recent vaccinations are not essential to maintain vaccinia-specific antibody responses in human subjects. Scarce vaccine supplies should be applied first to individuals who have not previously been vaccinated.

From Post 4356

Adults like yourself who received the smallpox vaccine during the nationwide program that was in effect from the late 1940s until 1972 are believed to have continuing immunity. This includes members of the U.S. military, who continued to receive smallpox vaccinations until 1991.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that, based on past data collected in Africa, the smallpox vaccine is at least 85% effective in preventing monkeypox. However, since this situation is so new, the precise degree of protection is not known. Researchers say that while older adults who have been vaccinated against smallpox may be susceptible to monkeypox infection, they are likely to experience only mild symptoms. The data show that the majority of healthy adults who become infected do not become severely ill. And to your question about smallpox boosters, no, they are not available.

The "obscure CDC quote" is the guidance recommendation for vaccine using the different vaccines.

You seem to think that I don't believe the smallpox vaccine protects you from monkeypox. It does. Especially for the first 3-5 years and less there after. After all "the precise degree of protection is not known", particularly regarding monkeypox cross reactivity.

And yes, encouraged. You keep citing CDC and WHO material which is a change. After all, "The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that, based on past data collected in Africa, the smallpox vaccine is at least 85% effective in preventing monkeypox." Interestingly enough that data came from the WHO here: Monkeypox

Small studies typically have little direct applicability to treatment guidelines. They typically are not generalizable to the broader population. The study you want to tout has no information about long term vaccina titers vs monkeypox. As that study was done 15 years ago or so the sample contained folks from "13 to 88 years" post vaccination, and as in the US that would have been folks born in the 1920s-1970s most likely who were part of the eradication effort. That small sample did show testable titers--with varying number of boosters and/or infection so each discrete group had even further limited sample size. Furthermore, the bulk of folks under the age of 50 now have zero immunity as they never received the vaccine. So basically if you are over 50, have no immunodeficiency or comorbidities, were possibly exposed to the virus after vaccination and are lucky you might have a mild case if you get it.

None of the views you attribute to me are accurate.

And your being "encouraged" by some sort of mysterious change in me is entirely misplaced.

Where we part company regarding CDC, NIH, and FDA is primarily on their "guidance" concerning the COVID gene therapy injections. Lots of well documented issues there. And your unwavering support for the injections is well documented on the COVID19 thread--so much so that I tend to view you as a Big Pharma shill.

As a journalist, I tend to use a cui bono?--follow the money--approach and discernment where those agencies are concerned. It appears that those agencies have become co-opted by Big Pharma and those behind the globalist Great Reset agenda. And it also appears that the Monkeypox "emergency" is being used to promote public hysteria to bring about the declaration of a new plandemic, coupled with an additional series of new draconian public health measures. Though it is a potentially serious and fugly disease, I am much more concerned about authoritarian health officials and the destruction their overreach can cause to western civilization, than I am about Monkeypox.

Time will tell whether being vaccinated long ago for smallpox is helpful for some regarding monkeypox or not. Hope it is. But the truth is that neither you, nor I, know what is going to happen.

We can agree on that at least. No one knows whether it will be helpful or not, to what degree or even if MP is simply a flash in the pan and worth being overly concerned about in any event.

I need to read this, again.

Yeah. I've read thru the images about 3 times now, and I'm not sure I understand what they are saying. I think it is a study showing Monkeypox becoming more dangerous by crossing the animal barriers multiple times. But there is too much language I am just unfamiliar with at this point. I've added the link to the whole study to my reading material for later in the day.

That, and also they all died. But that was after, inoculation?

BREAKING NEWS
U.S. declares monkeypox outbreak a public health emergency
By Helen Branswell Aug. 4, 2022

The Biden administration declared the ongoing monkeypox outbreak a public health emergency on Thursday, a move that comes amid growing case counts and a groundswell of criticism over the way the administration has handled the outbreak.

“We’re prepared to take our response to the next level on this virus,” Health and Human Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra said.

The public health emergency declaration comes nearly two weeks after the World Health Organization declared the unprecedented international spread of the virus a public health emergency of international concern. The outbreak, first detected in the United Kingdom in mid-May, has now seen more than 26,000 cases recorded by more than 80 countries around the globe. More than 6,600 of those cases have been recorded in the U.S.

The declaration of a domestic public health emergency gives the administration more flexibility and powers with which to try to halt spread of the virus. The powers could, among other things, allow the administration to tap into additional federal funds for the response.

Earlier this week, the administration announced the appointment of a White House monkeypox coordinator, Robert Fenton from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Demetre Daskalakis, director of the division of HIV prevention at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, was named deputy coordinator.

Transmission of the virus is largely occurring within networks of gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men, particularly among those who have multiple or anonymous sexual partners. But the number of cases among women and children — while still low — is rising. In most instances such cases have been either household contacts or sexual partners of confirmed cases.

This is a breaking story and will be updated.

First, I must say your cookie avatar looks like monkey pox to me :::eek face:::
..and on an a more serious, unfortunate note, it won't stay "just ten" for very long I'm sure : (

I DO look a little poxxy today. :)

I sent them a heads-up a month ago yesterday. Told them to pay attention to MP, stock the pantry, get ready for lockdowns. You could almost hear them rolling their eyes in the emails. They'll shed the denial when they have no choice.

This will likely be the excuse used to implement "public health" measures that will be used to impose mask and vaccine mandates, lockdowns, increase mail-in ballots, drop boxes, etc to allow Dems to steal the midterm elections.

My concern is what happens with the schools: will they go back to online learning in Iowa?

My "vacation" (such as it is since I'm not working at the State Fair this year) could end abruptly
if they do. A lot of teachers don't have the computer know-how to shift their lessons online and will need a fair amount of help. I stand to make a ton of money helping them with that, but it'll be a frustrating 24/7 effort, especially if admins make that decision at the last minute or worse, several weeks into fall semester.

Most public high schools don't buy commercially produced online lesson plans. The individual teachers are expected to convert their lessons to PDFs (and such) and load them online into Canvas or Blackboard (I think Web CT is dead, but correct me if I'm wrong). This is NOT a trivial effort.
