A Minnesota dad battered his two month-old baby daughter to death - then tried to claim she'd been fatally injured by his cat laying on top of her, police say.

Kristopher Dale Arlando Henderson, 39, was charged with the first-degree murder of his unidentified daughter at Blue Earth County District Court on Friday.

She was fatally-injured at his home in Mankato on September 23, and died at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester on November 3 after lengthy attempts to try and save the infant proved unsuccessful.

The girl's mom, who has not been identified, told cops her daughter was fine when she left her home for work on the day the fatal injuries - broken legs, broken ribs and a brain bleed - were inflicted.

She fed the little girl, then put her back down to sleep. The woman said Henderson texted her at 5pm to say he'd caught the family's 19 pound cat 'laying' on the baby, with the mom arriving home from work an hour later.

According to Law & Crime, she was stunned to discover that her daughter's eyes had 'bulged out' of her head, and took the infant to their local emergency room after calling her own mom for advice.

Cops were called, with Henderson allegedly initially claiming to have no idea how the baby was injured, before then blaming the family's cat.

They continued to probe Henderson for answers, who then said he may have been 'a little rough' while changing the girl's diaper.

During a follow-up interview on October 1, Henderson is said to have admitted that on the day of the girl's death he had 'cradled the child in his arms and struck her back more forcefully than usual,' according to the Southern Minnesota News.

The girl was transferred from the emergency room to the prestigious Mayo Clinic, but was removed from life support on November 3 after being declared brain dead.

Kristopher Dale Arlando Henderson, 39, was charged Friday in Blue Earth County District Court with second-degree murder without intent while committing a felony and first-degree manslaughter while committing malicious punishment of a child, according to the Mankato Free Press.

The baby had 'little to no brain activity' before she was pronounced dead earlier this month on November 3, the news outlet reported.

Meanwhile, autopsy results for the infant's death remains pending.

Authorities believe Henderson was caring for the child by himself at the time the injuries occurred.

He was originally only charged with first-degree assault, however the charges were upgraded following the girl's death, just over two weeks after she was hospitalized.

He was still in the Blue Earth County Jail as of Wednesday morning, according to the Free Press.

Henderson's bail has since been increased to $1 million.

We couldn't have kids. There's no kids in our home.

I've always wondered though. How can one get SO mad at an infant, a toddler or even a child that they use them as a punching bag? Or a pistol target? How does one's senses leave them so quickly, leaving them with nothing but a will to commit violence? How can one become so angry against someone so defenseless; to actually will violence on a being, an individual that cannot comprehend or protect themselves against what is being done to them?

Do they not realize what they have isn't just a child; but the most precious gift in the universe?

It boggles my mind.

It boggles my mind, too. I suppose some people are so irritated by the sound of a crying baby that they lash out, and have never learned how to ask for help, or maybe even to realize that they need help? Which is no excuse for hurting someone small and helpless....I do believe that part of the blame lies with our culture of death. It's okay to kill unborn babies. It's okay to kill the terminally ill. And that leads to, it's okay to kill anyone who annoys me or inconveniences me. But the fact that this guy lied about it and blamed the cat is proof that he knew what he'd done was wrong.

i have looked,
Rope is cheaper.
I suspect drugs. The mother didn't know?
Blaming the cat?? Pathetic. Hope the cat gets re-homed.

The mother had just gone back to work as the baby was only 2 months.

She had fed the baby before she left, and put the baby back to bed. Then she went to work, thinking she left the baby with a person one would think safe. Her father.

While at work, that is when he did this. He even sent her a text trying to blame it on the cat.

She had no idea. She came expecting all to be fine.

I am so sad for her.

I have never understood how some people that can't have kids, should and some that shouldn't have kids do. It just doesn't seem right and it's very sad. I'm sure there's some reason in God's plan but it's beyond my understanding and imagination.

I know there are other parents that can relate to having a colicky baby.

Fezzik Jr was very colicky for a very long time.

He ate every 1 1/2 -2 hours. For the first 6 months, that was day or night.

That meant I did not get more than 2 hours of sleep in a stretch at the most for 6 months. That didn't mean he suddenly was an 8 hour sleeper at 6 months. That meant it stretched from 2 to 3-4, and then up to change his butt and nurse and back to bed. Cluster feeding can be killer.

So combine a very colicky baby with no sleep for months. Fezzik gone working 12 to 16 hours a day most days, and he needed sleep, so I did the night shift with the baby because he had to be "on" all day and needed sleep. We were on our own, and had no family or friends or help in any regard. At all.

And that was the baseline. Any other problems, stress, difficulties, etc are on top of that.

It can be very overwhelming and stressful. It can seem endless and no way to make it better, and a colicky baby just never stops crying. It can get to you.

I really get it. Really, truly I get it hard core.

It is still not ok. It is not an excuse. I just do understand. NOT CONDONE.

But, understand. I understand a momentary reaction.

I never, ever did anything to any of our kids in those moments of frustration.

I admit that I put them in a safe place and going into another room and screaming into a pillow, and collecting myself for 30 seconds, and then back to it. Yes. Slapping, hitting, hurting, anything else? Hell no!!

At least 5 minutes (that he admitted to) of beating a 2 month old baby?!?!

I do not understand that. No. Dammit!

No!!

And then there are some people that want to do it.

Those people will need God's help, because they will need it.

Something all new parents should be told before they leave the hospital is that if the baby is crying and it is driving you over the edge, lay the baby in a safe place and walk away. It won't hurt the baby to cry while you calm yourself down. And face it a constantly crying baby can drive a person over the edge. This statement came from a mental health specialist to a mother who was going over the edge and abusing her baby. Not seriously injuring but yelling and being rough.

First time parents will do almost anything to stop the crying. By the time #2 and #3 arrive, its it won't hurt them to cry awhile so I can put in a load of laundry or deal with child #1 or whatever. I'm not talking hours, but maybe 5 to 10 minutes.

When parents do go over the edge, this is what happens. Sometimes is slamming the baby down and causing brain damage and sometimes its other abuse that leads to death or permanent injuries. Often times it's basically a decent person who goes over the edge and does a momentary act that has deathly results.

I know. My middle daughter and her husband haven't been able to have children, and they very much wanted some. They would have been excellent, loving parents. But it's not in God's plan, I guess. And then there are the druggies and the alcoholics, and all the other messed-up people who have whole bunches of kids and shouldn't....A woman who we knew when she was a young girl, has had several children by different fathers, just to get child support checks so she wouldn't have to work. One of the fathers was my nephew, who finally managed to get custody of his son (and is doing a good job raising the boy); he said she didn't cook or clean. The kids just had to open cans or cold cereal or something, if they wanted to eat. When he was with her, he took care of all of the kids, and when he finally managed to get his boy out of there, the other kids wanted to go with him, too. It's so sad.

Look at that man. His physiognomy screams "angry". I'm not blaming the woman, but I would never
leave a child with someone who looked like that. I don't believe that this she didn't know he was violent.

Ugh. Why? Just Why?? A 39-YEAR-old man brutally batters his own 2-month-old daughter to death. An 8 week old against a grown 39-year-old man. A ten-pounder against a 185 pounder. Execute him, for he deserves death! No excuses, no sympathy, no empathy for him. I do not give a **** about how trying parenthood is, most of us here know it is. Battering, broken legs, death--an 8 week old defenseless precious being. Kill the mother fu5ker, and don't be so quick to exonerate Mommy! Time will tell, in the meantime, baby daddy needs to go to Hell.
Just why! These stories make me so sad.

MARANTHA!! Even so, come LORD JESUS!!!
When I was 13 years old, I started baby sitting for the lady next door. She had a 3 month old baby. The ONLY reason she allowed this is because it was right next door and my mother was home all the time.

The very first time I kept her baby, she cried and cried. I did everything I knew to do>>>>checked to see if the diaper pins were sticking her, gave her a bottle, burped her, rocked her, patted her, played a lullaby for her on one of her toys>>>>nothing worked!! This was not a "normal" crying baby>>>she was SCREAMING, like she was in pain. I called my mom and she said to try wiping her down with a warm washcloth>>>did it>>>NOPE!

Finally, I called mom and told her>>>after about 3 and a half hours>>>>I cannot do this. Come over here>>>>SOMETHING is WRONG with this baby!!

She came over and repeated everything I had already done. Nothing worked.

Finally mom sat in the rocking chair and rocked the babe with her on her shoulder for HOURS, with the child still screaming!

FINALLY the mother came home and took the baby to the doctor/hospital. She had an intestinal blockage!!
After the surgery for that, the kid was fine. I baby sat for years there and the child was easy to get to sleep, feed, all that stuff>>>>THANK GOD no more SCREAMING!!

I can see how this can put someone at their wit's end>>>>BUT this guy wasn't 13>>>>he was 39 and he DID have options! He could have called the doctor, he could have walked away for awhile, he could have gone to the emergency room>>>>>he could have done SOMETHING besides beat this baby to DEATH!!

I do not believe there is ANY excuse for killing this precious life!

As I read this, I am saddened by the downfall of the love a parent should have for their child.
In the past I'm sure that this happened with relative frequency, but unreported.

And now with instant in your face 24hr news you can see these type of stories more often than not. Part of it being the internet, but part of it being "the love of your fellow man shall grow cold" if you will.......

The father of the poor child, well, the torturous death he should receive here would pale in comparison to when he meets his Maker.

The helpless infant, I can only hope that God Almighty holds the child close and shows a pure love as only He could .

As for me........I'm gonna go hug my 4yr old daughter a little bit tighter now........

Hopefully he will receive prison justice.
Tie his hands overhead to a tree.

Tie his feet to the ground.

Line up about 10 MMA fighters, let them take turns practicing kick, punches, etc on him. give each about 5 minutes at a time.

When he quits breathing, dump him in a sewage tank

I will NEVER understand this kind of EVIL!! That's what it is....just....pure....EVIL! Someone needs to get SERIOUSLY MEDIEVAL on his arse. Beat him to within an inch of his life....let him heal completely and then DO IT AGAIN....and again....and again....and again. For about a year.....or more. Until he begs for death and then answer him with a simple.....................no.

Or better yet. Just hang the bastard and let GOD deal with him for eternity. Murder is MURDER. A life for a life.

Just from the two pix, I'd say the dude has that 'mean' look to him. Not dangerous or badassed...just mean. I've run into a fair number of guys like that. They never want to fight anyone who has a chance of beating their ass, but are mean to their women and kids or other defenseless types.

Saved, to glorify God.
The TRUTH
This man has punished himself worse than anyone else could. He is cut off from his
legacy and potential descendants. He hasn't realized the full impact of what he has done yet. God gave him a good gift, and he destroyed her. Not a good position to be in. Most normal men would lay down their life to protect their children. When he comes to his senses, he may be a suicide risk.

At one point in time, I felt the sheer inability to deal with the crying....it was a long period of trying everything. I did not do anything, but the stress level was very high. Having tried everything, I just left the room for ten minutes or so and collected myself. I think she cried herself to sleep if memory serves me right. But it was a wall I had never seen.
