Wanted mini farm help needed

Hey y'all,

We have 27 acres butts up against a Nat'l Forest in the Ozarks. We've been here two years and need help getting things done around here. DH is 67 and me, 63, and we're just getting old! Things are not getting done because we just wear out too fast. It wouldn't be "24/7" work, just an extra hand would be nice when we start a project.

We're looking for someone who has their own self contained camper to put on about a separate 4 acre place on our land and live there, no charge but help us old folk get some stuff done! There is no elec to the plot, so a generator would be necessary, and no water, although a hose can be run from our well to fill their potable water tank when needed.

It's quiet, peaceful, except for rooster in the morning, but the coop is being moved in the spring, which we also need help building that too! Nice view, lots of turkey, deer and like I said, we butt up to a Nat'l Forest and don't even see the neighbors, it's our dream place. Two small towns about 25 mins either direction, one with a Walmart and fast food and hardware type stuff.

Anybody got any ideas for finding someone like that? I don't want to post on CL as that place just scares me and we're "new" to the area and don't know very many people here to put the "word out" and trust them.

Would appreciate some ideas...and thanks!

hope you find someone! Sounds like a very good opportunity for the right person.

Getting older is a challenge, isn't it!

Fraz, there's a website for "work camping" where you can post your offer, people with their own rvs that like to stay in one place and do some work on the side...

You could also check out a site called WWOOF. Willing workers of organic farms a neighbour gets helpers from there annually.

Neither here nor there.
There is a college down there in Arkansas somewhere that teaches the old ways, etc., maybe someone here will remember the name (it might be Scool of the Ozarks)? Anyway, they send their students out as interns to work on farms, homesteads, smithing shops, machine shops, and the like. Contact them and tell them your needs. Students work for free in exchange for college credit.

They are huge up here drawing students from multiple universities and community colleges, and local high schools.

If you go to a local church you might be able to find someone through word of mouth. I've only just recently moved to the Ozarks myself off a numbered county road and I'm pretty much already living the situation you were looking for out of an old motorhome I bought off a friend of a friend.

It seems there's a lot of people living on this road that are living off the grid and there's a lot of people looking to do odd jobs and such. I think if you can get to know your neighbors somehow you could find someone through word of mouth.
