Meijer food stores are running a sale on house brand veggies- sweet corn, sweet peas, green beans, and red kidney beans- 4x 12oz cans $1.00. They also have Pasta 1lb elbow macaroni or 1lb spaghetti 4x for $1.00. They also have spaghetti O's for the same 25c a can price (kids favorite).

This is a great deal- 25c a can, or lb of pasta, can expiration is 1/09.

Time to rotate the stock!

For those in Minnesota Cub has an even better deal. In their weekly ad there is a coupon for $5 off if you buy ten participating items, and Green Giant canned vegies are .50 ea, so you can go through and get ten cans free! No strings, no minimum purchase.

I'm at 150 cans and it is only Tuesday!

Hopefully this is just a "loss leader" event and not a sign that your local stores are (1) clearing out the last of store-brand stuff and no longer manufacturing it or (2) preparing to be bought out by a bigger chain.

Of course, it could be (3) the stores clearing out old stock so THEY can rotate in newer stock- so check the dates on the cans!

Kroger has the large jars of Ragu chunky pasta sauce 10 for $ 10.00. A great deal for us pasta lovers!

They also have boneless skinless chicken thighs at 50% off. This is a good buy for a family that doesn't like chicken breast.!

Food Lion and Reid's both have the same deal going on and have for some time .... veggies, four for a dollar. It's a good buy.
