Watch it live here! KIC 9832227 is a contact binary star system in the constellation Cygnus, located about 1,940 ± 30 light-years away. It is also identified as an eclipsing binary with an orbital period of almost 11 hours. The system was predicted to result in a merger in 2022 producing a luminous red nova for the first time in 10,000 years!

The light from every star in the night sky is from the distant past and a few are only a few short years ago but history just the same.
Cygnus (the Swan) is a densely packed section of the milky way and much observed by many, there is so much out there and the bigger the telescope the more faint light you can see it's mind boggling.

Take your complaint to NASA, it’s their telescope they’re streaming from. Might want to try contributing instead of complaining!
