Lights have nervous breakdown.

Have a 2001 Dodge Dakota truck, when lights are on they flicker then get okay then blink, flicker, took it in. Was told it was the Time Alarm module, 430 dollars to fix. Okay we have a keyless entry with a panic button but no alarm on this truck. What is a module? And this is really stupid, I am a woman but not blond. But could the keyless entry battery be going out?? We have checked fuses, wires, simple stuff. So any ideas before we take truck back Thursday to be fixed. Thanks Inky

My wild guess is: The alarm system has some sort of module that switches on a headlight flasher when it's "alarming," but switches back to normal headlight function when it's not. Probably a relay in the module that's getting tired, but they'll sell you the entire module that contains electronic circuit board, relay(s), etc. Could even be a connector to the module that that has toasted itself (recently happened in my Suburban).

Today's "repair" usually consists of replacing components until everything works. There aren't many "board level" technicians out there.

Thank You, this is my daughters truck price nearly did her in. College student and all. Guess I am getting old. Can remember just fuses going out caused problems not modules. LOL But your post made sense behind the headlight switch it is making a funny noise. Appreciate your reply. Inky
