Life BEFORE computers: A Poem

An Application was for employment,
A program was a TV show.
A cursor used profanity,
A keyboard was a piano!

Compress was something you did to garbage,
Not something you did to a file.
And if you unzipped anything in public,
You would be in jail for a while!

Log on was adding wood to a fire,
Hard drive was a long trip on the road.
A mouse pad was where a mouse lived,
And a backup happened to your commode!

Cut - you did with a pocket knife,
Paste - you did with glue.
A web was a spiders home,
And a virus was the flu!

A monitor was in study hall
A Ring Tone was a note on a bell
To "Burn a Copy" involved a fire
An UpGrade ment something got better, not slower
A Hard Disk was a medical condition of the back
A Port was where a ship docked
There were only 2-3 TV Stations, CBS, NBC and maybe ABC (if you are old enough)
An Interchange was for parts not highways
Keys were for skates not encryption
A bite was for food not 2 bits and certianly not part of a word.
An interupt was when the phone rang at dinner
The only Up and Down Loading was at the Grain Elevator.
A server brought you dinner.
A child process what a game for your kids.
A cell phone call was the one call you got when you were arrested
