Kia Question

I llooked at a used Kia Rio last week. It was much better than I expected.
I am considering one as a commuter car. Does anyone have any knowledge as to their relibility and lifespan? I was most surprised that it was more comfortable to me than some larger cars I have been in. While it is a go-cart they are supposed to get around 40 M.P.G. so am looking.

I don't know about the RIO. I have a KIA Sephia, 5 speed standard, that is 6 years old. Lot's of short runs, highway runs, curvey back roads & killer pot holes... so far, so good. It has about 147,000 miles on it now with most of the mileage put on the car in the past year.

I still miss my Jeep, but I can't complain about the gas mileage on the KIA. It's averaging about 36 miles per gallon at this point. I wish I had paid attention to the gas mileage when the car was less beat up.

Come to think of it... it's kind of like a Timex. It takes a beating...

Oh... we are the second owners - it's had a tree fall on it and a deer head butt the driver's side door. We've also spent time teaching our son to drive a standard using this car. Amazingly enough... we are on the original clutch!

We inherited a Rio from our daughter, 2001 model, w/ auto trans. On the highway, it gets about 38mpg @ a steady 70mph.
In stop and go traffic, it still gets around 28, with the a/c on.
Only 70k on the clock, but no problems.
Also was surprised at how large the trunk is.
BTW, if you're a ham, there's room under the radio to install a mobile...just remove the little cubby hole.
